ok, first of all i want to reveal a myth: these infotexts are mostly writtenby the labelowners themselves, not by hard-working editors. so what happens, when the guy behind a label releases his own music? well, either he is a well-organised deadline-machine and he asks somebody capable of doing this stupid job, or he realizes:

this ep marks a newbeginning in my career. since some time now, >the fog burns off< and we get more and more stable in the buisness. last year we were on the road quite a bit and we found many new friends. people from other cities, who believe in the same things, who do similar stuff and who are of the same kidney as we are. so that makes me very happy, which reflects in the music. for the first time i feel like coming home, although we are at the beginning of our journey into the industry yet.

john cage once stepped into an anechoic chamber expecting to hear silence. instead, he heard the low-end throb of his own blood pulsing through his body. this is the story that gave blood music, the first new act on diagonal, their name. it is an appropriate one too: simon pomery, the creative lead and only ever-present member of the band, strikes his guitar with screwdrivers, mallets and his own bare fists, frequently putting real blood into the blood music that spits violently from the band.

1nce again is back, this time with the first single in a double package! this is the first of two 12 inches containing one of our absolute favourite tracks from prolific producer ken duke aka dj duke. closer was orginally released back in 1994 on dukes power music records and the amazing klubb kidz mixes quickly found its way into many djs record bags, including label boss mad mats who rates the flava dub as one of his favourite deep house cuts of all time. if u ever heard mats spinning a house set chances are big you have heard this mix blasted loud! first up for remixes duties this time is mark seven, parkway/parkwest label owner, a true djs dj, a passionate music lover and record collector extrodinare. the so close mix of closer is deep house at its finest, an homage to the classic prescription sound keeping it ultimately atmospheric. the stalker mix continues on the same vibe yet develops into something more meaty and pumping during its course. together with the original klubb kidz flava dub and the mark seven mixes this release got everything a true deep house head needs.

this is a whole new level of weird - intones a disembodied voice on proximas thermal vision the lead track of his new 12 inch for tempa. it is a perfect summary of its disorienting appeal: winding upwards through a tense opening, it abruptly explodes into a turbulent salvo of percussion. its monstrous chunks of sound chop violently back and forth from speaker to speaker, assaulting dancers from all sides and broadsiding the senses, while sub-bass blasts upward from beneath. it is both alien and astonishingly intense, poised to detonate on dancefloors without ever resorting to stereotypical club banger tricks. it is easy to hear why proximas tracks have become regulars in dubstep scene figurehead youngstas record bag.

needwant welcome back family member mario basanov with his bill ep to delve into the harder and darker side of his production skills with three bombs guaranteed to destroy any dance floor

little is known about mysterious producer tommy rawson. our first acquaintance was the aptly named shy track on red rackems smugglers inn 001 release. we tried to find out more but the trail got cold pretty quick. it was not until hearing gilles peterson playing a version of hugh masekelas dont go lose it baby on his show that word got around, tommy rawson was back. this particular anthemic track found its way to mats who then started playing it out and every time, in every club no matter where in the world the reaction was same, people completely lost it on the dance floor! we had but no choice to release the track and luckily enought tommy must have a sixth sense because at the same time mats blasted the track at the local talk office to convince tooli shouting: this is the next big release for local talk, i m telling you! another track made it into his mailbox, the soulful house jam brenda done died with no name. both tracks ended up on this 12 inch of course. mr rawson has delivered the goods here, warm, sunsplashed music all the way. a name to watch for this year and probably not mysterious for long.

hessle audio co-owner pangaea (aka kevin mcauley) distils the sounds explored on his last record release into a three-track ep to begin his new hadal series. techno meets uk hardcore in 2013.

keith tuckers optic nerve persona returns with the timelapse ep. side a1 minimal detroit mix is a dark minimal mood beat pumped excursion into techno floor stumper. a2 time displacement mix is a completely different take with alternative beats creating a sort of shift in time. the tracks show tuckers growth and influence on electro and techno with his work in aux 88. side two one moment in time is a detroit sort of metroplex gem. tucker once again shows his melodic melodies and baselines that shows his love for detroit music and grooves. a highly thought out sequence of great sounds and string chords as only optic nerve does it. tucker has hinted many times that he has a lot of unreleased music from his metroplex days! b2. transient force records label owner as1 gives us a true electro mix which keeps alot of the original mix of one moment in time. the tone is a more electro clash techno mesh of urban beat programming for the electro heads.

now for the second central part we were able to win even more well-known and influential artists of the bernese music scene. on one hand, the world-famous and bustling starfighterz aka deetron as well as the versatile creative collective filewile, and on the other, morgan le fay aka benfay amongst many other things a member of the round table knights. in addition, mike machine (sinneswandel) and adriano mirabile (sinneswandel) join in to both present exciting pieces for diving into

sophistication and elegance have not always been the strobe light honey for die-hard divers into the dance genre, but it has been octo octas strongest suit since his 2011 debut 12 inch on 100% silk, and here again are those initial ideas of identity and hunger for intimacy all leading to an adrift, uneasy feeling, only they have materialized into that instantly recognizable, authentic oo sound.

luke williams has released an extensive catalogue of electronic music under his quinoline yellow and tatamax pseudonyms which are predominantly found on skam as well as his own imprint uchelfa. in the present and now seemingly back from his self- induced hiatus, we find luke composing again and instigating a spell of remix projects for various producers.
williams plot returns from his extended period in the wilderness to realign his priorities and interject some overdue music back into the public domain. he delivers his eighth release, palisade mount under his quinoline yellow moniker for touchin bass. expect twenty-five minutes of archetypal hill jogging beats and cawl-fuelled melodic sustenance. open wide!

vulkandance started as a party for african dance music in berlin in 2010. the amazing feedback and success of the party led nomad to turn it into a series of events and into a concept (including theme based decoration and sometimes catering) that travelled and hosted some of the cream of afro and global funk/disco djs, including legends such as beppe loda.

disco bloodbath recordings latest is the debut solo release from one of the founders and original residents of the disco bloodbath clubnights, dan beaumont - formally of production duo jam factory and the man behind london venues dalston superstore and the newly opened dance tunnel. reality checkpoint is an atmospheric mid-tempo house chugger based around judicious use of samples and a slight dub-reggae sensibility to the groove. the original is accompanied by two alternate versions - one from neville watson, which pushes the track into club territory, and one from dan himself, which strips things back, further accentuating the tracks dub overtones.

if you look into the night sky you can see a shadow of the headless horseman and his steel. this time around he has taken perc prisoner in the graveyard. as we know, decapitation does not come without con- sequence. rumor has it that the horseman is continuing his journey throughout the land and will strike again so beware.

after sides from matthew burton, seuil and albert schwartz, sammy dees ultrastretch label returns in 2013 with volkan akin. a regular presence at berlin institutions like club der visionäre, akin has been slowly rolling out his brand of prickly, spaced-out club tracks since the end of the last decade, both under his own name and as v for volkan. but if volkan akin has up until now been unfamiliar beyond germany, his ultrastretch debut, voltage, featuring an absolute beast of a ricardo villalobos remix, stands to turn more than a few heads in his direction. densely packed and intricately constructed, voltage is an extended groove you can get lost in. cymbals ring softly amidst whirrs of faintly melodic clicks, scratches and voices. but at the center of akins churning, percussive arrangement lies a warm and weighty kick sure to keep dancers pinned to the floor. like so many great perlon records, voltage can be taken as a deeply considered exercise in sound design or as a deadly club track simultaneously, with akins musical sophistication and knack for an inviting beat working hand-in-hand. the original mix spends over 11 minutes unraveling, but as you fall further into the swirl of akins interlocking rhythms, youre likely to stop counting. a shorter constant voltage mix evokes sunrise, pulling back the originals heft to reveal gorgeous pads and hints of organic rhythm. ricardo villalobos, sammys longtime label mate at perlon and a producer who likely needs no introduction, digs deeper into the thump at the heart of voltage on his acdc remix. focusing on the originals wisps of melody, villalobos turns in a warm, zoned-in remix that feels of a piece with the singular techno trips found on his recent lp dependent and happy

may 20th 2013 will see koreless release his debut solo ep yugen on young turks. following on from previous releases 4d/mti and lost in tokyo, and his collaboration with sampha for short stories, welsh born producer koreless has well and truly defined his own sound. existing somewhere between soulful electronica and eno-like ambience, the emotion filled soundscapes of y?gen give the listener a glimpse into the vast concepts imagined by koreless and presented through his music, artwork and performance.
remarkable in its restraint, sophisticated despite its simplicity, and almost entirely beatless, y?gen is a bold statement that deserves to be listened to and lost in.

the mysterious wpbh label strikes again with two killer tracks from the vaults of one certain harry baldi. all that is known about this harry baldi character is that he once squeezed 100 tracks into a 9 seconds mix on his soundcloud and that he has never played at panorama bar or any other club for that matter.
so this one is truly a matter of the music doing the talking, and with the reggaefied dubness of cant kick this feeling when it dubs and the vintage theo parrish-styled tonight tomorrow the music will well and truly talk to a lot of music lovers.

with local talk release no. 30 we are moving further into territories of straight up no fuss dance floor action. already having releases on dirt crew recordings, murmur & hypercolour elef knows a thing or two about delivering jacking tracks. wake up call comes in two versions. the original version is a kick & snare pattern driven monster track with heavy arpeggios and deep pads. on the flip brennan green doesnt hold back either. the main melodic pattern together with percussions is unleashed straight on and as the tracks evolves he adds tr-303 lines making the track even more epic. as elef described the remix as perfect for a panorama bar set. the remix is worthy enough based on that one side alone.

alan fitzpatrick yet again doesnt disappoint with his remix of riots in london that uses delayed stabs and a rolling bass line to construct another dark peak time player. jerome sydenhams carbon dub of smoke and mirrors is heavily dynamic and uses a piano chord andthe original vocal to create an energetic vibe. cari lekebusch remix of bullet uses a phased underlying melody to really drive the track forward before the bleep melody is introduced later into the track.

adesse has recently turned heads with his sought after and limited versions releases. for prime numbers he brings another high quality ep featuring three more excursions. the title track, untitled love, is a dubbed up 90s-esque workout. repetitive vocal samples swirl over a deep, low-slung bass groove & peak’d-up snares. its an unashamedly wide eyed, bouncing production that will please those checking for the current resurgence of raw garage sounds. supernal takes things into deeper territory with an intriguing steppers outing. the track oozes soul with rousing keys & smoked-out production that is all kept in line by a mesmerising, metronomic vocal. the set is closed by metachemistry an equally engrossing track utilising a shuffling groove wrapped in breathy, reedy horns & heavily reverbed percussion. all told a deeply reverential release highlighting a producer with an obviously wide palette of influence & a natural feel for what simply works.

run by two thirds of the team behind hypercolour - ste roberts and alex jones, alongside dave elkabas - the initials imprint has made an auspicious foray into the world of electronic music, with releases and remixes from the likes of the analogue cops, kris wadsworth, boola, jay bliss and the greenville massive. for the sixth ep, roberts himself appears with a solo track, as does finale sessions producer will azada, and the pair also contribute a collaborative effort featuring dick darling.
