feel the drum beat of uneasy change in the eager hand drums, bass throbs, and stalking synth stabs turning up the tension like rents in a hip neighborhood. terrence parker goes more optimistic turn on the remix. hand stamped vinyl only rsd.

this four track ep kicks off with cladistic mutation , a sparse underwater soundtrack with only the gentlest suggestion of rhythm, lots of reverb and tiny little details that float by like micro-bacterial debris. m2 is a more beat driven dub track but is still way below the surface: the kicks are smooth and hunched over, the chords are smeared out in all directions and the atmosphere is lo-fi and grainy. on the flip, grain gets even more energetic, with firm techno kick drums setting a stern tempo as all sorts of aqueous details and spacious effec ts peppe r the groove. there s a heavenly nature to the pads and an industrial texture to the percussion that makes this a cerebral but physical affair from start to finish. lastly, neurowaves closes things down in blissfully dubbed out and horizontal fashion, with large sweeping pads, tweaked filters and evocative little details all placing you firmly under water.

fkclub aka marc lapeyre did it again with the illuminati ep on astrolab. mixing modern synth and old school analog sounds to create a dirty, catchy and powerful track: illuminati. volta is new wav-ish with its dark synth bass and voice, like depeche mode on magic mushrooms. pilooskis remix of illuminati brings the track to a point of dissonance and trippy arp, where the man show us one more time what a flair he has for it.

our dear friend and oslo label mastermind federico molinari returns on raum, this time together with his mate alexis cabrera. both of them are hailing from argentina but currently are living in berlin. there they also met and decided to start this project together. these two jams are the first result now and we hope you like them as much as we do!

lee webster s soul reply ep kicks of the year for iutsan with two contrasting, yet seemingly connected tracks. on the chocho side you ll find soul replied - a low slung love song with moodymann-esque sampling and swung-out drums, dipping out occasionally as the female vocal comes in like a lullaby. in contrast on the culo side, you ll find devils avocado - an ibiza terrace style jam that builds from the cutting synth line into a crescendo that finally drops into a total dc10 weapon. an strong start to the year for barcelona based i used to sleep at night.

eye teeth, the new techno sub-label of interdimensional transmissions, launches with an ep from israel vines. the label say: we started this sublabel as way of exploring pure and experimental techno in an entirely contemporary context (where it often uses historical lenses and a wider musical context). this is techno from detroit and america, not detroit techno. we would like to see american techno evolve, and this new imprint is an attempt to be a catalyst in that arena.

much like its three predecessors, the fourth format release is carved out of stripped beats, stained bass textures and a great deal of dark atmospherics that take the sound of techno back to its very foundations.

another recent masterpiece from the rising barcelona label “modern obscure music”. this time the label is introducing a 12’’ with two long lasting analogue jams made from synthesizers like moog voyager and the mythical juno 80 on abstract rhythms created with a powerful roland 909. this is an essential record for collectors of relics focused on the club. to the mysterious, exotic and even tribal vibe, the record label adds a remix by daniel martin-mccormick, best known as ital, who has recently published his 3rd album with mike paradinas (planet mu) apart from also presenting some pieces from his own record company lover’s rock or in the prestigious workshop house. remixes by jmii and pettre, aster’s ex-band components, are also added in the digital version of it.

damn! did somebody upset carlo coz that boy has been throwing down some vicious balls-to-wall beats across his recent releases... and we love it! he got nasty with shaded s gender bender and kicked some serious ass on his latest for carl cox s intec. whilst carlo s latest outings may be fierce, our toronto brother has lost none of the trademark funk that permeates all of his work. the magic ingredient that keeps our hips on the move. carlo returns to mood with deebug, the rampant techno tick that burrows into your brain with its rapid, pincer-like drums and thumping kick. on the flip its fellow ear-bug, no turning back, flows with an almost laid-back and effortless groove. a perfect pair from mr. lio.

from the tropics comes whiskey disco, a sneaky re-edit label bent on dredging the decanter for diffident dancefloor genius from latent disco perpetrators. it is loosely connected to sleazy mcqueen and his assorted cohorts.
wd37 broadway kiss showcases the hair-split-contrast in our disco genre. 4 songs so good, they all deserve equal attention, pontchartrain delivers, lifesaver, an immaculate distillation of house and disco fused, buffed and polished. on the inside, osmose has bottled pure disco fire with broadway kiss, a perfect party starter for any warehouse with disco leanings.
flipping to the aa, seasoned jock, derek kaye has reworked holding on and in the process landed it (and a few others!) in greg wilsons top edits of 2014 chart. by now, you must know that we are very fond of a bit of cheese in our whiskey… rulefinn sidesteps the usual elements of la biondas i got your number to focus on the slick guitar, while retaining the vocals until the end for optimal impact.

master londons joseph russel signs for funkdriven quirky chicago techno but a 1, drums of lagos, stands out of many. what starts like a sturdy minimalist drum and snare pattern monotrack turns inti a discotech monster all at once and seemingly oout of almost nowhere. and once the surprise swingbreak of the track gets you hooked there no stopping.

great groovy disco edits as we like it

attention please, w’d like to shine a light on the man whose records would come to define many a numbers party, who once described his music as for the strippers, for the street. the original master of ghetto house, the one and only dj deeon.

early support from raresh, fred p. julietta, dana ruh!! after a first year of spellbinding releases, sol asylum returns in 2015 with a fresh various artist’s compilation featuring three finely crafted tracks from the sol asylum crew to kick-start the labels second year. bringing together a family of artists who have been there since the very beginning. starting off with the odd boys danny and damian, we go all the way back to the first release with a brand new remix of broken spell. whisking us away to a parallel universe of this odyssey, this remix is masterly conjured into a percussive exploration of the planet of odd. following the odd ones, julie marghilano unleashes another side of sol asylum with dragon drops. she unveils her known atmospheric soundscapes but with a heavily detailed rhythmic twist, made by experimenting with her field recordings to create a more stripped down sound that shows her range and versatility. last but certainly not least, miss jools calima brings the ep to a triumphant closure like a mystical fog. the elements of the track melt into drowning synths with crackling percussion and the elegantly designed grooves that levitate us steadily through the hypnotic melodies. the percussive strength of each track, while still being diverse links this collaboration of like-minded family members together as a cohesive potion.

midgar is proud to introduce a newcomer for the third release. a great debut for the maltese cloned, delivering not less than 4 cuts with sapphire 1990 e.p. the record, way more straightforward and groove centered than the previous midgar outputs, opens with sapphire 1990, track that sounds like very nostalgic memories from a timeless rave. thanks to a genuine simplicity and the great arrangement of its elements, this first cut has the perfect characteristics to become a dancefloor anthem. on the same side, a live out-take from cloned’s repertory, the pendulum swinging synth-lines which dominate pretty direct rhythmics filled with hi-hats and claps over a costant background noise. belgassem as the first cut on the b side, is an absolutely heavy one for the label’s standards, made of deep kickin’ drums and haunting voices empowered by a really strong and obsessive acid-line. closing the vinyl, the slow (and again really acidic) submerging is like a lysergic vessel headed to more comfortable dimensions, where groovy drums are embraced by very bright heavenly pads. sudden death is instead a chilled-out broken beat interrupted by confused speeches and detroitish pads, resulting as a modern ritual of ascension towards higher spheres. corel drives the release to the end, recalling most of its main features: a restless run through misty soundscapes along a path studded of bells and overwhelming, sharp hi-hats.
