after releasing abe security systems on the previous release, luis malon returns, this time with two tracks which take up the whole of the b side. a constant progression of obscurity and curious sounds from the south american artist in maybe forever baby . rounding off the ep is astrosonik , broken drums lead you to a place of otherworldly atmospheres, absorbing you in the trip. acquired grooves intelligently arranged by the young talent.

mantra makes an entry to finnish proform series with his raw and uncompromised four track acid ep called “the abyss”. after releases on bunker records, polybius trax, solar one music and abstract acid under the mantra alias craig stainton delivers four tracks of jackin pure acid techno madness in the veins of true underground. starting with “next culture” is a good introduction to pumping beats and a moaning 303 while “beat methods” takes a rougher and tougher angle to acid. just imagine yourself in a warehouse party in the morning jammin to some acid. on the b-side “the abyss” leads us to the deep end of the 303 or even to the bottom of the acid sea. “singularity” ends this package with great 303 lines definitely burning up the house! a limited and numbered edition of 200, after that it’s gone, no represses, no digital, so you know what to do!

the law of seven refers to the spiritualist philosopher gurdjieffs idea that the evolution of phenomena proceeds according to a universal seven-step process. clay tells us that while this idea did not strictly factor into the composition of these tracks, you could abstract some elements into the musical creation process. gurdjieff was quite a thinker, but also composed music so i thought the lines i was drawing carried some weight. in particular his notion that creation proceeds through increasing restrictions which i find to be incredibly relevant to my process at least. time limitations and performance settings particularly seem to allow me to be far more productive than just working freely with no solid end point in mind

the german boogie compilation “boogie on the mainline” presents a selection of 10 rare disco tracks from germany plus one more tune from austria, all of them, originally released between 1980 and 1987. check! . the fully licenced album contains little known tunes by groups like imagination (which you can also see on the cover of the lp), squish, upstairs, the poptown syndicate and more. as the boogie-ish post-disco side of german music history still basically remains undiscovered as of yet, “boogie on the mainline” hopefully will shed some light again on 11 rare gems that were mainly published on small or private labels. the album is released on loudly pressed double vinyl with gatefold jacket on the new artless cuckoo sister label boogie on the mainline records. it includes extensive liner notes by compiler john raincoatman aka dj scientist.

mark archer aka dj nex returns to music mondays for a limited edition, bespoke, shrink wrapped, collector’s item, triple pack vinyl album of his legendry dj nex ep’s.
originally released in 1992 and 1993 the nex ep and poundstretcher ep have become incredibly sought after on vinyl. however, the poundstretcher ep was always cut too low with 4 tracks aside. we are now taking both ep’s and remastering them to 3 loud pieces of vinyl.
the sleeve will be a specially designed piece of art just for this project, while the label on the 3 records will represent the original releases, keeping that authentic dj nex vibe!

bill browns super rare brownstone release is one for the deep heads, less well known than label mate everyday people but just as rare and collectable. shuffling sunshine soul its all about the groove and feeling. 500 copies only. one for the heads. bill brown and al hall jr met around 1971, they were both in south central l.a and shared the same apartment building, also in the same building was doug carn and brownstone singer billy wilson. these studio sessions were done at paramount studios hollywood where al hall jr was working for producer art smith a&c music. the main distributor for a&c was accent records.

second up on our bobby boyd unreleased recording we have some dope mid 80s material from bobby, “i like what you do to me” is boogie / proto house joint that is totally my bag, feels like it should be in a 80s movie weightlifting montage (in a good way) it just works on the dance floor so well.
on the flip things get even stronger with the proto-house banger “girl like you” a sick soulful number with with a biggest swinging kick drum i have ever heard, both proper club material.
if your not a rare soul or disco collector bobby’s name might not be a name your familiar with but as one of the founder members of lafayette afro rock band you will have experienced his music and influence which is far reaching. &#8232,,,

some time around 20 years ago, the artist known as dub surgeon made an absorbing album of beautiful dub infused with ambiance, found sounds and horizontal rhythms. the lost future was recorded at the former amsterdam film academy where dub surgeon. the recording engineer for the project was ricardo villalobos. dub surgeon and ricardo villalobos then mastered it together, putting it through several vintage mixers and recording it to 2 inch tape. then, tragedy struck: a storm surged and ignited a fire that ravaged the studio. the master copy was thought to have been lost forever. dub surgeon stopped making music and disappeared into the shadows after just two eps on future dub in 2002/3. but one day 15 years later, totally out of the blue, he received a demo of the lost future. pay attention to this, it said. attached was a demo version of the long lost album and now, finally, it has a perfect and impossibly poetic home on dubais ark to ashes, which is named in homage to the story of lee scratch perry burning down his black ark studio to rid it of demons. sounding as fresh as ever, the lost future is an authentic dub experience with a story as special as the music itself.

killer, cosmic leaning german funk-rock moves here on the repress tip courtesy of epsilon, a 4 piece from marburg, just north of frankfurt. that kind of grooved out, downtempo dusted glam type of gear that one might hear dj harvey play at wrong o clock in the morning, or something that loda might flip into mid-set that would have everyone scratching their head in disbelief. one of a handful of cool jams the epsilon guys cranked out, remastered and repressed on a lovely, handy 45. sounds heavy. essential listening for those of a more left-field disposition. dig it.

julius is finally back on his own home smallville with along the coast- its the first solo 12 since his mesmerizing flocking behaviour album in 2014. after remixes for telfort and lerosa recently, a 12 together with moomin on his closer label and some smallpeople material last year plus a surprising non-electronic album with his band-project tonight will be fine (together with abdeslam hammouda) on japanese label mule musiq, julius is now back on his own imprint, delivering 3 deep cuts for the dancefloor. next to running the smallville record-store and -label, julius started his own club-night and accompanied stamp-label down by the lake (catalogue number 03 is out now) in freiburg, plus hosting the smallville & friends thursday at legendary golden pudel club in hamburg every month as a smallpeople residency together with just von ahlefeld. they also put out record no. 5 on smallville-offshoot fuck reality recently. watch out for more good things to come this summer.. as always along the coast comes with a full cover artwork by stefan marx. all tracks are written, produced and mixed by julius steinhoff mastering & vinyl cut by helmut erler, dubplates & mastering artwork by stefan marx distributed by wordandsound

this latest work from vanity productions is a turbulence steadied to rest with care, and marks a critical high point in the project’s evolution. as the nom de plume of posh isolation’s co-founder christian stadsgaard, there is a deeply private yet fiercely empathic quality to “only the grains of love remain”. pirouetting between his collaborative work with loke rahbek as damien dubrovnik, as well as the empire line with varg and iron sight, to name just stadsgaard’s most recent activity, the inwardness reserved for vanity productions is perhaps a necessary step. that the emotive experimentation should generate such a touching soliloquy is an arresting watermark, presenting only the grains of love remain as the most eloquent work of the project to date.
