the remix package kicks off with a reworking from alexi delano who has recorded for poker flat, harthouse. items and things, plus 8 amongst others who takes the title track secret moon in a deep and spacious house direction with their superb mix that works from the off. l.a. artist david alvarado steps up next on kazantrip and drops a driving slice of brooding techno that is perfect warehouse material. last, and no means least, is the rather legendary d. digglers live dub interpretation. the urgent low end tribal nature provides a solid backdrop for the fluid elements of the original to drift over. this wax edition release is a rich & complex package of mixes with real depth and is another stellar single from the ever­impressive klartraum and certainly worth to be pressed on lucid vinyl.

norwegian dj/producer cave returns to shadowfax with more mind blowing sub-science. known from his tribal driven techno creations including the huge ingoma 008 and pumping work on his own spilo, cave now shows a very different side of his interests...

a four-track ep, bemired and evil-eyed, but with room for arnaldo to breathe out and flex a little after his spooked, sparked contribution to blank slate 001. the opener is a dubwise bubbler, with spaced-out keys, free woodblocks, shuffling hi-hats and elastic 303 bass. atmosphere breached is more jazzy and messed-up, running funky organ through sizzling fx, syncopated handclaps and filtered groans. the flip is dancefloor-trained. our pick of the bunch, verano is in a dark, hissing, aqueous world of its own, chugging and stomping, with relentless tambourines, crunchy filtered tribal drums and detuned horns. heads down to close: lost voices and a 909 kick, chattering hi- hats and rattling percussion administer the licks.

this ep on memento records sees alfonso leon take his production skills to the next level. vinyl compresors soulful melodies and tribal percussions are matched by a deliciously funky and luscious bass line, until acid synth stabs open the way to a low-pitched, creepy, almost manic dark vocal that crawls along the groove.
fabrizio maurizis unique taste resonates hugely in his remix: a computerised, robotic low frequency bounce underpins a loopy rework of the dreary vocal, bringing its more rhythmical and human elements to the fore, marrying them to the relentless beat. outstanding works, both tracks.

irish producer myler presents the fatland ep, a collection of two originals and two remixes that marks the fourth release for burgeoning brooklyn imprint fifth wall. the original *blue madams* is a percussive slab of techno that drills away with tribal crunch, while *glad bags* sounds like a wonky take on a 70s horror soundtrack. on the remix front, berlin-based vault series affiliate moerbeck provides a lascivious techno/house hybrid in his take on *blue madams*, while londons metrist seems to channel an eccentric warehouse-dwelling baboon in his remix of the same.

africa friends is a tribal-inspired tech-house track with a lot of driving elements. the remix of yapacc however is rather a remixer typical interpretation somewhere between funky minimal and melodic techno. another centerpiece of this ep is the remix of quenum, who founded the imprint cadenza along with luciano a few years ago. as a small gimmick nicolas duvoisin serves an additional groovy track called people dance.

first of two new bassheavy techno-ish dub eps by mystica tribe. four tracks of excellent electronic dub with heavy techno and acid influences. although only his second release after his debut in 2011 with meditation stick the japanese mystica tribe already delivers a powerful trademark sound: loose, shuffling beats, layered with heavy basses, tribal percussion and trippy elements, like the dark acid tale on titletrack flowers and the classic melodica stabs on fractale and moon & stone. tokyo dub at its best.

the second ep on the dutch imprint pinkman comes from roberto auser who brings a varied ep with his unique westcoast sound. first off is the outer space dance track never say never again, remixed by dutch techno pioneer mark du mosch on the flip. the final track eclipse brings us back to his native country ausland, a tribal battle track for all the weekend warriors out there

limited reissue of this incredible and highly sought-after futuristic 12 from 1981. released on west african music, a tiny label from the ivory coast, and finding a spiritual home on the italian eclectic cosmic scene, both tracks on this 12 are brilliantly innovative and exhibit a minimal techno-esque aesthetic way ahead of their time. side as closer is a chugging sinuous flow punctuated by jerking monotone vocals, horn stabs and synth arpeggios with a strong dancefloor sensibility. flip over for stunningly weird electronic percussion workout tam tam - a crazed sparse soundscape of strange falsetto tribal chants, funky hand claps and drums, synth wobbles, spasms and tweaks. mystery surrounds the identity of the elusive artist codek but evidence points to it being an offshoot project of french new wave producer john marieux.

the >just for fun< ep starts with the title track just4fun, which in fact breathes fun and doesnt take itself too seriously. the funky and highly infectious keys and the butt shaking groove will remind you of a track that moodymann never made, but wishes he had. next comes unlimited01 with a joyful piano melody that would fit right into a french disco with a funkier version of alain delon behind the decks. still, the rhodes chords, the slow sexy groove, the vocal hooks will get you moving in no time. thang then goes into a more detroit beatdown direction with its deep chords and smooth pads. it creates a mellow atmosphere with an almost relaxed summer feeling. this is what a funky pimp would listen to on a night car drive. the ep ends with spiritual almost tribal rhythms. inspiration would be a nice soundtrack to a 70s orgy orchestrated by a groovy guru, surrounded by a magical circle of mystical dancers. over the top? sure, but the track would certainly get this party going.

surely not is a brilliant house number with moodyman indebted drum pattern based around a soul edged vocal sample which unfolds into a deep late night groover. this is an essential release for detroit aficionados. on the flipside earl goes in with british knights a frenetic subloaded tribal number with a lot of swagger and the odd nod to classic todd edwards and afrika bambaataa along the way. this one is all about the stabbing repetition and the infectious bass line that builds and builds euphorically until it drops into a rhythm track that commands the hips to move and the fist to punch the sky.
