the path of hybrid is a specially constructed three-disc compilation that has been designed to chart the musical history of cari lekebuschs h-productions label. containing almost fifty tracks, the album blends re-mastered tracks from the labels deep catalogue with specially commissioned re-edits and remixes of classic hybrid tracks and the pick of new music from the current h-productions roster. the album is presented across two continuous dj mixes, compared by alexi delano (past mix) and cari lekebusch (present mix) plus a third unmixed disc containing previously unreleased tracks and remixes from the h-productions vaults.

for well roundeds 11th release bristols skinnz drops a trio of infectious and melodic creations that share a kinship with todays garage and funky house sounds whilst standing apart due to their unique character. you may know sam from his other alias baobinga. he is man who commands much respect for his collaborations with people from a wide variety of musical backgrounds and his ability to channel his influences in an unforced and colourful way.
on the skinnz releases so far he has experimented with more garage influenced beats, while retaining his trademark focus on percussive momentum. however these tracks often flow freely across boundaries and genre limits encouraged to evolve in any direction that creates excitement. previous skinnz releases have already appeared on pinchs earwax label and boka records whilst his debut outing was on one of the first compilations of music that might be termed dubstep – the classic >our sound< album on destructive.

the proposition is a simple one. it was a 2009 when julio bashmore first remixed >heartbreaker< from deadboys classic first release - the >u cheated< ep on well rounded.
he remoulded the garage template of the original into something more immediate, replacing the swung off-beats of the original with driving forward-rhythms and a clarity of purpose that takes absolutely nothing away from the musical impact of the original. this circulated on mp3 and we smiled and danced.
unexpectedly, in 2010 jb returned to >heartbreaker< for a different interpretation. this time around a more haunting approach was the order of the day with cross-fading strings creating a soulful, otherworldly atmosphere. the drop this time also swapped sub bass for punchy 808s. a tantalising further alternative that pointed the way to this vinyl release.

track 2 side a gives us a taste of japan via andrez bergan. he gives us electronic underground. his beats add a more glitchy minimal style to aux 88 familiar electro side. side two electronic cinema remix and original mix scotlandís own arne weinberg gives us a taste of his moody side mix which is very hi classed cafe style mix.

manuel tur returns to delusions following his recent classic most of this moment on freerange and proceeds to throw another whacking great curveball for those who have think theyve got his game sussed. its quite safe to say the last year or so manuel has continued to push and redifne himself as a producer, refusing to stick to one sound or repeat himself which has resulted in some amazing releases aswell as some fruitful collaborations. recent remixes for permanent vacation, diynamic and dixons philomena label all display his deeper, left-of-centre and more techno-edged sound. here on delusions we have the (bi) polar opposite in the form of the foolin ep. the title track is a beautiful slice of soul-drenched house which goes for a classic sound with simple horn chords, rolling bass and incessant claps spicing up the groove. a simple vocal refrain is spun in like a dj drops an accapella and once heard this will be stuck in your head for days. a firm fireside favourite with all of us here at dog. theres also an instrumental version of foolin for those with vocalitis. flipping over we have the traveller which sees manuel head down slightly more familiar territory with a heavy, lo-slung groove providing the backdrop for some axelrod-style strings and horns, live bass and floating vocal adlibs. a subtley haunting soundtrack feel pervedes as the arrangement developes but the relentless driving beats make sure this track never strays far from the dancefloor.

mark es >call me< finally gets released via merc this september. ever since its appearance on the mark e beats in space mix nearly a year ago it has remained a must have track and appeared in faiths top 10 tracks of 2010 without seeing the light of day. staying true to an original >house< aesthetic, call me merges a relentless bass line with soaring strings and an organ build de lacey would be proud of, combined with a spoken female vocal this is destined to be a future classic. dixon and tensnake appear for remix duties, dixon turns out a sublime re-work, tightening the feel in true innervisions fashion, whilst tensnake creates a genre defining remix that turns the track on its head and introduces 2 step garage attitude. mark e + dixon + tensnake = huge 12inch !

>candy red / hungry horse< is dro careys debut release for hum + buzz. this exciting newcomer from sydney has already made quite an impression, he was named as one of the top ten producers to watch in 2011 by fact magazine and has already collaborated with the former roll deep member trim. dro careys extraordinary music assimilates everything from classic techno and house to rnb, rap, juke and grime, to produce a peculiar skewed aesthetic. on side a, >candy red< places hypnotic other worldly vocals with interlocking melodies, stuttering percussion and subtle bass drops. on the other side, >hungry horse< begins by deploying a haunted female vocal, before morphing into snatches of different fragmented samples and frantic kicks and snares, for an intense narcotic affair.

its been two years since pawas gupta contributed an enchanting remix on sirions first vinyl release. constant communication and cooperation lead to this all in all accomplished project called >huis huis ep<. pawas productions start off smooth and impress with delightful elements and perpetual dynamic. the development of each track is rarely predictable. tempting the act of prolonged anticipation is a delicate one and leads further and further into remote realms. carried into the sec repetitive parts by finely tuned synth-boosts makes us realize the force briefly before being caught up in the hypnotic sounds again. propelling deep house with a pinch of funk and a touch of detroit - the classic yet brilliant pawas style! moon harbours chris lattner needs no long introductions. releases on nrk, einmaleins, fear of flying and luna records speak for themselves, are proof of a successful and active time. the dry yet truly ideal base frame for subtle but succinct modules for this remix is its effective substance. the static sub bass, fulminate and with an enormous thrust, is reminiscent of the miami bass age - virtuous modulations, the very complexion of mr lattner. he remains true to himself, we like!

>rdjcs5<, a new 4-track 12-inch ep by solvent, is the result. this is suction022. each and every sound on this record came from rdj’s old cs5, painstakingly programmed and multi-tracked by solvent over the course of several months. the limited capabilities and sound palette of this humble little synth provided quite a challenge, but ultimately the results are not merely an exercise in technical synthnerdery, rdjcs5 speaks more of solvents musical kinship to thee analord. opening track >curtains< bears similarity to early rephlex signing bochum welt, while >radiator<, >mould<, and >tassels< each contain hallmarks of the classic afx sound. at the same time, each track also sounds distinctly and unmistakably solvent. the 12 inch vinyl edition is limited to 300 copies, in brown chipboard sleeve with sticker, and also contains an additional noise/drone piece at the end of side b. entitled >sandpaper<, this cut will be individually hand-etched by solvent, for a 1-of-a-kind cut/click/loop experience.
