born in sao paulo to a deeply religious family, laercio has been around music all his life - amidst the challenges of daily life, his adventist parents would whip out all sorts of instruments whenever the situation would allow it, introducing a young and curious mind to a wide range of musical expressions. it should come as no surprise, then, that our hero quickly felt at home with notes and bars, choosing the flute as his first weapon of choice which he eagerly studied from the age of seven. even later non-musical career choices always reflected an infatuation with the world of sounds, like his stint as a capoeira teacher, combining martial arts, acrobatics and dance. with such a multi-faceted background in music, the inevitable tinkering with synthesizers and other means of electronic sound generation was rather a question of time than one of ambition, and sure enough we find laercio roaming the parties of the mid-noughties, absorbing the unique melange of styles and scales that inform club culture to this day. in stark contrast to most other rave inductees at the time, however, he never wanted to become a dj: his area of expertise is the performance, not the collecting and curating of other people s releases, and it shows in the unusual fact that laercio has held club residencies as a live electronic musician in venues like sao paulo s the edge without ever so much as touching a record. in these release l_cio has worked with d.o.c. mastermind gui boratto. and the result is music for the dancefloor.

editor s kutz is here, right on summertime wearing it s volume 8 swimsuit, while the label boss seems to be on vacation too, since this is the first record of the series with no -vinyladdicted- track included. a side begins with the silver rider and his blue-sky edit on an odyssey s hit, giving to it a more uptempo and danceable character, while the italian duo marsupials drops a heavenly disco-house track with a chunky beat and a beautifully loading string line, called just like heaven. both sun-drenched, with vibes melting down slowly onto the sand like the butter under the hot sun! flip-side could be the sunset side with stereo 12 da flow closing your afternoon session or, why not, kicking things off for a late night party! with a deep and soulful take on an ashford & simpson s classic track, this one can stick in your mind for long, while napoleon s luv passage has a hypnotic process with repetitive loops and fat kicks that put you in a sweet nu-disco trance. but, beware, there s a break waiting for you!

the music here is very much in the spirit of the label s kosmische/space berlin-school agenda, both reflecting his earlier work and exploring new territory simultaneously. lush orchestrations and beautiful synth pads contrast against hypnotic rhythms and delicate melodies, and while the label s mission might be -electronic listening music- tracks like red bird and mistral are surely dj material too.

02am is an 4 track ep by the young producer hekkla from eindhoven in the netherlands. the first track is sunset strip , a slowly build house track that moves like the last waves of heat at the end of a hot summers day, walking home feeling satisfied, all ready for the night. saturday morning sentimentality is a hard to pinpoint track that sounds like the bastard son of a trio between the melancholic side of cyndi lauper, alphaville and the echoes of a cheesy saturday morning cartoon theme song from the late 80 s. on the other side memories of tau ceti feels like tumbling into space with only the memories left of a good time on an alien world, accelerating faster and faster but still enjoying it, even though you know that the vacuum of space will eventually kill you. finishing with the hardest track no math , because, boys and girls, it s no math... hand stamped artwork by frank koedood.

repress 2016 ...linkwood gives us whats up with the underground? hot, urgent, joyous jazz/house music thats guaranteed to ignite any dancefloor be warned, spontaneous human combustion is a real risk when this record hits. fudge fingas drops the heavyweight ‘escape. with samples from cult tv series ‘the prisoner, huge synth lines and beats like vintage glenn underground this is definitely odd house music turn it up! the complainers bacon rolls is bizarre funk from somewhere else entirely if chris cunningham made a porno flick then this would be the soundtrack. plus theres extra sickness from whats up with the beats? (rather than a mere dub, this is almost an entirely different jump-up disco track) and a bonus firecracker skit.
