it was in february 2015 when japanese producer and sound designer kuniyuki takahashi, sometimes known as koss, releases with the ep ™newwave project ¾2š a record, that tapped some roots of his mu-sical education: new wave, german electro punk from bands like a daf, ebm from acts like front 242 as well as industrial music. styles, about kuniyuki claims that they are his ™favourite musicš. now, nearly two years after his first newwave project ep, he drops an album that is leaning towards his musical love from the past. com-pared to his former work, that was rooted in worlds of classic, jazz, house, ambient, and electronic song-writing, his new tunes are full of melodic drifts and rhythmical shifts. as usual all is loaded with tones and rhythms straight from the heart that filter and modulate human emotions without losing their natural source. to get a sound that is fresh but still leaning to the 1980ees, he used some old synthesisers like a roland jupiter 8, a juno 60, a korg ms 20, an old tape echo machine but also new instruments like the roland aira. furthermore, his modular synthesizers talk too.

for its 3rd release, the other planet presents worth way. embark with him on this journey to discovery. a universe full of poetry accompanied by rhythms with lo-fi accents.
this ep was created throughout adventures into the australian wilderness. whilst hiking and driving around mountains, forests and beaches, inspirations were drawn from emotions and connections that were felt in these settings. the tracks reflect the physical and psychological catharsis that can be induced in a landscape that has seen minimal human activity.

lefto (belgium) and free the robots (california) found themselves on tour together a year and a half ago and had the wise idea to do a record together with the beats they were making from inspiration collected along the way. fast forward to the present, and that idea has grown into karavan - an album of international exotic melodies and heavy rhythms - that reflects the sound gather through their years of consistent nomadic touring.

informationstechno was released on cassette in 2014 via zeon light and it was nominated for best swedish dance album of the year at manifestgalan 2015. during 2015 the band received attention from swedish radio p2 and p3 and performed a series of gigs at home in stockholm. the second album informellt was released on lamour 2015 and a remix album called reformellt released early 2016. motormännen make information techno infused with an air of swedish nostalgia through a filter of retro-futuristic skepticism. the music is packed with minimal acid loops and samples with excerpts from swedish politicians, documentaries and christer glenning, reflecting on times when the cold war and the traditional welfare state were dissolving. inhibitions were relaxed and new, foreign influences crept into the body of society and the old information monopolies. motormännen s tracks are visually enhanced by messages from pictures and videos from the 1970s and 80s.

a1: solar reaction - asc is known for off the wall deep atmospheric music with a darker more menacing side to it, solar reaction encapsulates this to perfection. the usual asc trademark of quality is here in abundance, with intricate beats, as one would expect, accompanied with a mysterious dark atmosphere that evolves into something with a warm and more welcoming feeling. haunting chords and electrical static pulse sounds hypnotize and seduce the listener into a trance like state. the deeper drifty synth sounds drop with a friendly embrace on the ears and make you yearn for more. solar avoidance is a track of contrast is executed to great effect.

part 1/2 of his amazing album. intelligent communication. since 1967, astronomers have been receiving and cataloging very precisely timed radio pulses coming from sources they call pulsars. they have long assumed these to be natural sources, exotic spinning stars that emit laser-like radio beams that sweep through space much like lighthouse signal sequences. highly regular flashes and complex signal ordering are produced through intelligent modulation of their beam s intensity and direction of polarization. more significantly, through their seemingly purposeful geometrical alignments, pulsars appear to be conveying a coherent message. are these beacons from an intelligent origin? and are they warning beacons to warn us against the next shockwave that comes of the active galactic nucleus ore want they attack us? it might be prudent to consider whether we are talking about friends or foes.....mike storm.

with b&w printed sleeve - housed in cover art from p.a.m.s misha hollenbach. studio styrka springs a leak with three new tracks from villa abo, the mainstay of veteran swedish analogue unit frak. released by australian label noise in my head, sibilant is the product of a mutual appreciation for severed heads and terse tapes, both of which propelled a 13 year old jan svensson to form frak back in 1987. on warming up signal, svensson sounds the nuclear alarm with an unforgiving techno meltdown that leaves no survivors. the flip gives our disintegrated minds some relief with drum-magnet, a paranoid beat track recorded in collaboration with karlskrona punk rocker nebula, and the hypnotic syndrome beautiful.

as with the best techno, the best minimalist records, the best krautrock ventures, this first model alpha lp hints at a weird sense of time, not totally of the past, not totally of the future, not at all of the present. something in between, a time travel machine that can take you on a random journey. listening to those tracks is a bit like making time’s flow stop.

evan caminitis slow but steady progression towards electronic music from sand-swept guitar drone mirrors the pace of the music he makes. it has been measured, each move well-considered and clearly intentional. caminiti has immersed himself in electronic production on meridian, creating organic sounds through his machines, patching sounds that recall the brassy resonance of horns and hazy choral clusters. synthesizers hiss and crackle under layers of reverb and fog. sounds undulate and implode in upon themselves, with bursts of noise dropping in and out to create shadows of rhythm. caminitis electronic systems do not run autonomously - the sounds heard on meridian required real-time human interaction to bring them to life, and that human touch is essential to the mysterious atmosphere he produces on this new album.
