even though we re not paladins of pure concepts, the sound we re currently looking to release usually has a raw, kinda primitive and rough around the edges nature. we re definitely not looking for the generic -soul sample meets a 4x4 beat- kind of edit. for this release we challenge 4 of our favorite porto producers to give their unique twist to different samples and sounds of records we love. ranging from upbeat disco rhythms to organic drums and hypnotic g funk melodies this release has it all. we truly believe this is a honest representation of part of the porto music movement that makes us proud.

greetings and welcome from axces. we re a small local copenhagen community of friends and curious souls. this is our very first record. alfredo92 and kasper marrot run the label, and they ve produced two tracks with help from our good friends carl emil and lauge. the record was created in 2017 at the professional facilities we ve come to know as nordvest auto. on both tracks, you ll hear a lot of drums, some bass, effects, samples, vocals and sounds from beyond, we don t know how to describe. they ve been tested on various sound systems during the past year, and we can ensure you that a flat eq and max volume will suit the tracks almost anywhere. we really hope you enjoy our effort. if you should ever find yourself in copenhagen axces will provide counselling and guidance at own risk.

minimood extra s forthcoming release is a vinyl only, red 12- affair that features two novel reworks of dub techno wizard david hausdorf s legendary salo release space walk . germany s david hausdorf has been turning out expertly crafted deep techno since the late nineties. he did so on labels like synaptic waves as well as styrax leaves, and in 2002 served up his classic space warehouse found! last copies ever.. walk on the epic berlin based imprint salo. first up is the 2015 version. it is a ten minute piece of heady, hypnotic techno with soft rubber drums, gently propulsive percussion and icy high-hats that add a real sense of scale and depth to the track. with slick boom- bap bite in the claps and hits, this is the sort of expertly reduced track that will lock dance floors in for hours. then comes the 2015 reshape, which again makes full use of its 10 minute length. there is a little more edgy reverb in this one, the drums are more upright and the pads are a little more rippling and rolling. it s a liquid groove as a result, and one that is near faultless for the way it rolls on and on without any friction.

underground mainstay leonardo lands on his own etheric label with two more of his hotly anticipated tunes that this time show off his dub techno and melodic credentials. perfectly hypnotic rolling drums and gorgeous pads layered up into a deeply intoxicating rhythm that really encourages your mind to cut loose and wander. these latest two tracks are sure to make a huge mark wherever they are dropped and further cement leonardo’s place in the electronic landscape.

repress - welcome to the fourth chapter of the elaste series! in this compilation i am progressing a style i am inaugurating: vintage futurism. the best metaphor for this genre is charanjit singhs 1982 album ten ragas to a disco beat in which he created a sound which mirrors, but more importantly pre dates, the first acid house record by five years. it is no novelty record, but truly capturing the hypnotic potential of acid/house music. it became my key track for elaste volume 4

flexi head-honcho relative is back in action with another solo 12- from his dusty studio music madness.simone turns on his juno 106 and 808 tom giving us an amazing original mix, with a classic, dance floor oriented 4/4 vibe.moving forward, you must just close your eyes and take the first flight to detroit to meet mr javonntte, house-maestro from the soul, musician and singer who adds extra emotional vocal feeling to the track… alongside the remix by the established producer dj aakmael that gives us the proper deep groove.closing track of the ep is -love has no tempo-, based on a catchy vocal sample that hits a solid breaks drums structure together with an evolving acid bassline.

theres no better man to mark the fiftieth release on wolf music than south london stalwart and og wolf family, medlar. marrying techy touches and ukg stylings, with sonar bumps and medlars signature, sample-heavy groove, its a fitting way to bring in the half century.

normandy records releases its 5th ep with a new collaboration between janeret & gunnter called stan claud. produced with drums and synths in the spirit of the early 2000s deep house, watch out for the bass lines! it purrs a lot!

matt edwards launches stranger in the night with his first solo material since 2017. the rekids offshoot will release regular music by four artists, namely radio slave, king britt, anthony rother and fred p, who will each drop three eps over the next year. “with rekids being 100% focused on releasing music for dance floors i felt the need to create a new platform to explore a wider musical vision and invite some of my all-time electronic musical heroes to be a part of the series,” says matt edwards. both numbers near the 12-minute mark but each track portrays a different aesthetic. opening with precision drums and crystalline notes, ‘ground control’ makes a nod towards the hi-tech soul sound of detroit and drives forward using a sultry bassline, erratic chords and the occasional icy stab as an array of contrasting sounds operate in unison. on the flip, a syncopated rhythm lays the foundation for ‘last communication’ whilst a tantalising melody joins poignant synths, constructing a profound and hypnotising journey.

identified patient and his notorious femme fatale are back with another record of deranged darkroom anthems for pinkman. this 12 is where crunchy drums and heavy bass are laced with aggressively seductive vocals by sophie du palais. while the theme of the songs, compared with their previous record, goes in a rather kinky direction, the raw ferocity that never fails to grip a dance floor remains.

description 4 to the floor are committed to delivering seminal house music to wax, making sought after heritage tracks readily available on vinyl for crate diggers to add to their collections. on volume 1’s a-side you’ll find a track with one of the most famous lyrics from house music history md x-spress’ ‘god made me phunky’, the record has inspired countless producers to sample and remix it, but this 90’s gem still sounds amazing in its original glory. on the flip are two mixes of a three kings classic, ‘shake dat booty’. the a pal joey interpretation matches looped vocals with harmonious keys that perfectly complement each other, while the wahoo main mix utilises energetic drums and techy synths to up the ante.

pyramid transmissions presents the 2nd solo release on the label from pt creator adj. street life part 2 continues the theme of part 1 with another 4 tracks of bass driven future electro music from one of the longest standing members of the scene. street life part 2 is more pure future bboy music with punching kick drums, alien melodies and crunchy glitches for that unmistakable adj sound aimed at making you dance while getting in your head simultaneously. adj always looks to the future but with nods to his past of 808 electro music.

2019 see s the pair land on strctr, a label with a reputation for delivering that sweet house music and das carma are in good company here with previous artists such as manooz, harrison bdp & liam geddes on the label. even the title of the ep shows the fondness between label & producers : str -> mrs (airport codes stands for stuttgart, germany from where the producers come from and marseille, france where the label is based). delivering a 4 track ep of original productions das carma show that sometimes a &#64258,,,ashy remixer is simply not needed. liftoff cloud 9 opens the ep with a warm &#64258,,,oating dreamlike track, ebbing and weaving beautifully throughout the course of the track. larry & frankie and subnautica keep the subtle refrains of the opener but bring the funk slightly more with bump-in garage drums turning these tracks into feel good lo-&#64257,,, burners. closing out the ep is dub101, here the guys waste no time in making the tracks intentions felt, skippy house drums and a big old slice of call & response from some heavy hitting dub chords - peak time tackle.

the fifth release from the bunte kuh label is another winner: it comes from bardia salour and features three fresh originals with a remix from peter schumann. it s also set to be available on vinyl release too. salour is a german artist who runs his own esteemed events in hamburg and has played all over europe from watergate in berlin to culture box in copenhagen. his dub infused style is utterly distinctive and these new cuts prove that once more. north scapes opens up with a molten, acid tinged bassline. as it grows more wild there are icy hi hat loops layered in with some big piano chords to finish it in style and mean the floor will really go wild. liquid lava is more direct, with hard hitting techno kicks and deft synth sounds colouring in the grooves. then comes the excellent urban signals, a dramatic, dubbier cut with cavernous bottom ends and subtle, supple synths layering in warmth and atmosphere. last of all, peter schumann s lsd25 restyle of north scapes pairs it back to a warm, bubbly warm up house tune that will get you moving with its sonar blips and nice, deep cut and churning drums. all four of these tracks are fresh and classy efforts sure to make their mark.

infuence and impression of thick mist and salty air. hamburg‘s bl brixton presents three tracks that unfold to unforeseen depth and structure. »closed eyes tourist« is uniform and contrast alike with soft drums on concrete walls and comforting keys between sharp hats. a recollection of steady grooves and hypnotizing patterns like ancient impacts on modern reflections.

the mysterious wilson phoenix returns with another batch of muscular techno joints that ll wipe the floor with any half-hearted 4/4 pretenders. considering how sought after his earlier releases are, don t expect this to hang around for long. the beastly 909 kicks on -dorphin- would slot in perfectly with head front panel s own blown out take on peak time rabble rousing techno, while the kick-clap sync on dexed will get fists a-shaking. it s not all blunt drums though - there s plenty of peppy colour splashed all over this record to make it stand out from the crowd. this ain t no monochrome chugging business!

a fireball to accelerate our post-winter thawing. spanish producer pepes first foray on lph. it starts off unassumingly, with a bright, airy beach boogie thats all gentle drums and trebly synth figurations, but it quickly turns its eye to the strobe-lit nightclub, first with delusions of grandeur, an angular hypnosis of syncopated rhythms, then with aerial, a 130 bpm blitz with an epic build and an equally dramatic breakdown. capping it off is 50 am, which, as the name indicates, is a woozy shuffle thatll help you land the plane nice and easy.

all praises due is a collaborative project from veteran mc torae and producer praise. the duo teamed up to create the seven song ep which highlights the best of their combined talents. true fans know this has been long in the works and was even teased on shoutro from torae’s 2016 album entitled. torae has been busy since 2016 filming six commercials, a movie and a television series with vh1. in that time he also joined diddy’s revolt television network and hosted the revamped freestyle friday with bet. all without missing a beat on his nationally syndicated radio show the tor guide six days a week. praise has also been grinding, racking up production credits with artists like pharoahe monch, bj the chicago kid, joyner lucas and more. you can even hear his hard hitting drums and infectious bass lines on recent ea sports – nba live video games.

support for my life at 45 part 1 came from huey morgan and craig charles on bbc 6music the second instalment of dr rubbefunk s my life at 45 series. canvas cathedral on the a-side is a jazzy all-instrumental affair that will have you head-nodding like nobody s business. over uptempo hip-hop flavoured beats reminiscent of early 90s golden era hip hop, chopped and looped riffs from sax man ben castle give way to rolling melodies and rapid fire solos. on the flip, unstoppable gospel powerhouse izo fitzroy is here, flexing her soulful tones over one of the most elastic basslines ever pressed on wax. underpinned by signature laidback drums that groove like a classic rhythm section of yesteryear, tasteful guitars and chiming electric piano weave their way between izo s lyrics and, bingo! that s a little blahzay right there! always keen to give the djs a bonus, the good doctor even squeezes some canvas beats onto the 7- for good measure.
