we have been waiting for pele to crop up on a release from the footy mad rothmans and what a time to play that hand card. teaming up once more with his aussie team mate dawn again and a first apperance from leeds legends clandestino. the first track from the ep cobblejam is nothing short of first class, a worthy italo, chuggy, powerhouse that leaves absolutely nothing to the imagination. the b-side finds us with the slightly strangely named woman for a day theres nothing strange about the track itself though. a deep and dark track that slowly drives forward into the abyss. finishing off the record is an excellent remix from the lads over at clandestino. their dessert trance vibe brings the record together as sweetly as pele brought together that 1970 world cup winning team.

the title track, “the odyssey of flight 33,” bubbles up with dubbed chords and stabs that float and wobble over a clap and tom ride fit for 3am. “nightsong” follows the formula in spirit but percolates with punchy drums and stabs. finishing out the release is a full bodied basic soul unit remix of “odyssey” that beefs up and pitches down the chords and drives a heavy rhythm into a wall of sound tinged with hypnotic dystopia.

almost a year has passed since the ghost of serena butler made its appearance on the realms of eerie - techno oddball marco shuttle’s label. now s/he and other beings gave birth to a new continuum, bene tleilax, where serena’s second ep, “from the cloud to our bodies”, has been conceived.
dub visions and found sound sculptures float over a maelstrom of skeletal techno remains, together with delicate melodies and vocal swarms from a realm where nothing is so sacred that it cannot be reengineered and transformed. this is a release which seizes alienation as impetus to generate new worlds while remaining still counter-trend to certain dark souls in modern electronic music. another biomechanical effort which sounds like the perfect nexus of fluid hopes and unparalleled roles.

the latest release on guy gerber’s successful label rumors is a remix ep of the dying seconds’ song ‘mora minn’. guy gerber himself turns in a dub remix, whilst acid mondays and elie nissan & jenia tarsol’s tales feature on the b side. guy’s remix see the acclaimed dj and producer turning the starting point into a wholly new and original sounding release. the dub mix puts guy’s outstanding production into the spotlight. subtle yet intricate, guy’s take on the record pulls together echoing piano chords, a delicate guitar line and emotive, building strings over a gently propulsive bassline. it’ll be familiar to those who have frequented guy’s famous rumors events series this season, with guy’s road testing of the release prompting many fans to ask what this new, distinctively gerber-stamped track could be. meanwhile, rumors label and events mainstays acid mondays take the track into deeper and darker territory, with a faster paced beat and sub-bass flourishes offsetting trippy vocal samples. two fellow tel aviv talents, eli nissan and jenia tarsol, round off the ep with a rework that matches more of the original’s drums, vocals ethereal piano line with amplified percussion and a dancefloor ready bassline. the ep drops towards middle of a busy season for the label and events series, rumors ibiza has become one of the busiest and most talked about daytime events on the island, with international parties in the likes of la, mykonos, sardinia and, most notably, a london street party selling out within hours. to accommodate his ever-expanding fanbase, guy will be playing a landmark headline show at london’s historic roundhouse on the day after this release.

following a big ep from richy ahmed, play it say it returns with a talented collaboration in the form of mark fanciulli and rob cockerton, with honey dijon on the remix. mark fanciulli has carved out his own sound that takes the best of house and techno, turning in his own infectious releases on the likes of joris voorn’s rejected, as well as the legendary planet e and intec. long time friend and collaborator rob cockerton joins fanciulli, who’s own credits lead to labels including suara and snatch!, and together the duo cook up a storm here. ‘slave to the rave’ is the fantastic opening cut and is a real party starter with an old school feel. acid stabs bring raw energy alongside chattery claps straight from chicago in the 80’s, whilst the whole production is bolstered by slick drum programming that won’t fail to work crowds into a frenzy. the excellent ’10 channels of bliss’ is equally massive, with robust kick drums down low and huge incendiary hi-hats up top. swaying claps and rolling bass all help lure you in and shape shifting synths bring all that important looseness and colour. next up, classic music company artist and new york tastemaker honey dijon steps up to remix ‘slave to the rave’. her version is dark and intense, with an unbridled sense of frantic raves bottled up in the train-track grooves and the cleverly filtered vocals, this is a powerful ep of high class, high impact dance music.

if you like tape hiss, heavy beats and cheeky sampling this will make you go bang! ctepeo 57 (stereo 57) are a newly formed duo. they have been around for a while and you might know them under different aliases. their obsession with 1950s culture brought them together and they own a massive collection of marlon brando memorabilia. the 1950s were a decade of mystery and hoaxes, the cold war, the space race and the establishment of nasa. ctepeo 57 insists the cold war isnt over and claim russian astronauts landed on mars in the late 90s to discover something truly amazing… it all seems far-fetched but who cares, when they make music like this.

edanticonf s music feels perfectly crafted for the brooding atmospheric venues he so often performs in. both the aforementioned adjectives can be attributed to his style of techno too, one that places the focus less on the technical side and more onthe human one, aiming to reflect his emotions and state of being through the hazy soundscapes that draw influence from the natural scenery around him.

roman producer (and a force behind minimalrome label) valerio lombardozzi known as heinrich dressel returns to barba with a second release for our label, titled -the styx swamp-. heinrich has a unique way of combining classic techno and electro sounds with elements from the beloved drexcyan universe and john carpenter leitmotifs, and making them come together in a manner that both moves your body and pushes your mind beyond the point of awareness. as with the previous record, -lurking underwater-, here he pulls off the move with the same efficiency and without sounding like he s repeating himself. -gray slope-, -sailing the nether waterways- and -the styx swamp- are all quite moody and deep, rich with sound and thick with vibe. however, the tracks feel equally at home in 4 am techno situation and a heady afterhours affair. he truly is a master of crafting hybrids whose influences get so flawlessly embedded that it s hard to point them out. if that s not enough, -the styx swamp- got a treatment by nigel rogers aka perseus traxx, a multi-faceted producer and a mighty live act performer. nigel stayed respectful to the original but made the original s bouncy groove into something more direct and reduced, while retaining the same feel conditioned by lead synth s hypnotic quality. we re known to give a little bit of extra love to our releases so (as all before) this one s pressed onto a heavy duty 180 gram vinyl and beautifully packaged in an original artwork by emaemaema.

mancini and the creepers is a much needed breath of fresh air that really turned my week around from being horrendous to unreal! with the ridiculous vocal stylings of mancini throwing down some truly unorthodox rhythm, along with the unreal british-accented lyrics, this crew is pure entertainment in my mind. the rapping is done over the production crew, consisting of tommy tempa and frank law’s, beats and is put together in a great package.

port o brien is dead, long live waters. these new songs veered away from the frequently loose, punchy anthems of port o brien, and as van pierszalowski intensively pieced each one together, he sought a bigger sound – something louder than he could play on his own. so van returned to oslo, where his new journey began.

the aristocrats were originally from bridgeport, connecticut, but came to philadelphia in 1973 where they recorded five tracks with bobbi eli at sigma sound studios. only one single was released, the philly classic “let’s get together now” on warner brothers records. original pressings can fetch up to £150. the expansion pressing here is extra special as the ‘b’ side “loving you is mellow” has never previously been released on 7” or vinyl. it is in fact the original version of a song later made famous by major harris but in it’s own right an exceptional piece of philly magic.

reissue of a classic! the label: tk records in essence represents the city of miami when it came to soul/r&b and the early stages of disco. in 1974, george mccrae gave the label its first no. 1 disco hit with rock your baby. a little more than a year after mccrae s hit, the record label struck gold with kc & the sunshine band with five 1 songs on the billboard hot 100. needless to say at the height of the genreÆs cultural domination tk did pretty well.

the parels is a duo of jim goodall and eddie ruscha from l.a. this lp is their second release after their self titled tape on lal lal lal. inside the grooves of this record they continue their strange exotica mission through the jungle and towards the mysterious grottos of the mineral kingdom. the trip is listened through a kaleidoscope: small details and miniature symphonies change places and blend together, enchanting scenes morph into others. limited edition of 300. co-release with ikuisuus

athens of the north and symphoncal records are proud to present the long lost raw soul express lp in a special limited vinyl only release. mastered personally from the original tapes with love. if you dont know what this is then you re in the wrong game, the lp also includes the full previously unreleased version of their rare-groove and surprisingly rare club classic the way we live in its full intended format. solid ballads are what makes the lp for me but there is not a bad track on there, boogie, funk and rare-groove, blink and it ll be gone.

nick mackrory & harry collier’s musical partnership dates all the way back to the 90’s, when they were both deeply invested in the musical boom in the uk that followed acid house, the rave scene, and the ibiza experience. nick went from drumsticks to turntables to studio wizardry, while harry honed in on his golden voice - which led him to a stint as a singer for faithless. they found their way back to each other in 2014 and have since developed a sound together that is fresh but not too polished. with touches of 60’s chanson coupled with sundazed electronics, their songs linger on like the feeling of a long day spent outdoors in summer.
