italian producer simone fedi, hailing from tuscany, takes things to a whole new level on this third release on eskimo recordings. >bitter devotion< is a vocal pop gem with a balearic tinge, but its bittersweet vocals and the addictive melody will haunt you. for this tune fedi, a multi-instrumentalist with a knack for pop music and a soft spot for vintage gear, joined forces with a mysterious singer named lola rent, and this turns out to be a winning team.
bitter devotion comes with a rather spectacular remix package, ewan pearson (known from his remix work for goldfrapp, chemical brothers, hot chip, moby, franz ferdinand and depeche mode to name a few) gave it the royal treatment. as an additional treat, welcome stranger aka thomas bullock (rub n tug, laughing light of plenty, map of africa, whatever we want records) has indulged in a psychedelic >bitter devotion< dub, analogue and live... just the way we like it.

stepping out of the shadows in 2007 when just sixteen years old, jokers stock has risen dramatically since. aided by him releasing defining cuts like >digidesign<, >the vision (let me breathe)< and >tron<, he now finds himself thick in the recent resurgence of british electronic music. bbc radio 1s zane lowe premiered >here come the lights< in late july on his coveted hottest record in the world radio spot. moreover joker premiered most of his new albums tracks at the glastonbury festival this past summer, just one stop during a busy summer of worldwide festival performances. with the world traveled and a deal with 4ad signed, he is finally ready to appease his waiting public and release his debut album, the vision. prior to that though, album tracks >here come the lights< featuring silas of turboweekend and >my trance girl<, are being released on a purple coloured double a-side 12 inch.

the mysterious robotalco serves up four deep house cuts for nycs on the prowl. robos road kicks things off with the right amount of hissing strings and slow drifting vibes that win its a1 spot. next up we have it gets to me, which strips things back a bit with pulsing synths, sparse congas, and perfectly placed vocal snippets. on the b-side we get moon robot, it keeps things rolling with its stompy feel and more of whats becoming robotalcos signiture swirling synth pad sound. rounding up the release for b2 is zuk zuk, with its quirky low slung groove that develops into a latin percussive gem...its really a superb way to round off robotalcos otp debut. well done.

one of vahagns best friends (tiago from dfa, clearmont 56, golf channel, etc), has a residency at lisbons top club lux called trust. after attending one of these trust nights, this lisbon-based armenian musician arrived in his studio right after the club night and wrote the original material for this record in the course of a few hours. the result was so special, that soon groovement had it signed upon hearing, and contacted tiago to be the remixer for the track dedicated to him. a record with a story like this is bound to be good!

with releases on 100% pure, saved records and great stuff he marked his spot in the scene. now he returns to bitten for his second release, two tech-house tracks, both oh lord and the essence of life rock like crazy!

true to form, souvenir are back with a snappy summertime release perfectly hinged & ready for sweeping the dancefloors. souvenir 036 various artists features lewis boardman & maher daniel blending their sounds, and converging on this ep for some magnificent effects. the a side starts out with daniel - he is a new, but solid name amongst the techno-gambit, having released on labels such as get physical & bedrock, as well as on souvenir. while his remix workings of >rumblefish< earned him a 2 1/2 month long-spot as number one on the techno charts. with >here and now< with dark, driving techno that sounds like its been made inside of a blazing house-fire. burning & singed, the the layers fall heavy upon one another - with a penetrating dancefloor deep-ness to the bass. next up, >icaros< on the inside a track…spins a dark & deep nighttime soundscape, deep into the depths of a jungle somewhere. a distant & hollow vocal of a tribesman hums hauntingly in the distance, with a severe & driving bassline to make you run like a scared little raver deep into the jungle. on the b side, boardman takes over, one of the uks newest talents - recently remixing for nina kraviz & yousef - with >tranquilizer,< on b2 is quite a minimal retreat…with some intergalactic space-fight sounds thrown into the mix, alongside the rolling bass, and chug-chugging. b2 enters the title track, >the broken is beautiful.< a nice, chugging bass-line meets a ethereal chopped up vocal, carefully flowing in & out of the bass-line….to meet up strong midway thru the breakdown

there are certain songs that are so very good, the only singular word that accurately describes them is satisfying. >wait & see< is one of those: an aural pleasure that scratches an itch and hits the spot so precisely, it almost feels like self-denial not to listen on repeat. on holy ghost!s latest ep, the absurdly catchy single from their self-titled 2011 debut gets a makeover from three of dance musics titans: cfcf, kris menace and richard x. and while this batch of remixes finds the artists behind each track steering in new directions, each finds a way to capitalize on the irresistible danceability of the original.

the soft rocks camp launches a newly minted label in the shape of kinfolk, whose intention is to showcase rising talent and fully indulge the experimental. the first release from maurice & charles smacks it right in the spot - you may have enjoyed the loose vocal acid throb of a side hugger moroder in milan on sir wevver s recent 6 mix show. there isn t a recommendation that comes any higher than that! on the flip, mo & charlie indulge their floaty balearic side with underneath the universe which also contains a pleasant undercurrent of bubbling acid. the same track is twisted inside out and taken to the new forest by the soft rocks crew themselves on an expansive dubbed out refix notable for some rather tasty metallic 808 hits

on orlando britains follow-up to his yore debut, >beneath the surface<, the uk producer laid down the new releases material in west london, but its heart and soul lies an ocean away, as the >motor city< track title suggests, britains also got a soft spot for classic house and techno, as evidenced by the title he has given to the thirty-minute ep. his first ep had sold out in seconds and this one, coming in 2 different coloured vinyl versions is expected to disappear even quicker. first very limited pressing comes as white vinyl.

another super funky bunch of groovin disco goodies from the par-tay camp. first up is got the hots for u, a wonderful edit of a lost double exposure track, removing some dubious vocal sections and stretching out the groove and turning it into a funky floor-filling monster. the flip side sees two more spot-on extended edits, firstly high on da boogie, a smokin funky groove with awesome vocals and the dirtiest of b-lines while æfunk it up sees 70s glam rockers the sweet stretched out for maximum dancefloor appeal. great stuff!

clone classic cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! this is 3 tracks by da posse (produced by hula... one of the outthere brothers... and with maurice joshua, k fingers & martell). strings & its my life are chicagos take on detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early derrick may record (think the dance) but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from chicago). a rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesnt show the clear difference between chicago and detroit in the late 80s. this record most likely got produced within 1 year after rhythm = rhythms legendary nude photo and strings of life releases (both 87 and this came out in 88). as extra bonus track we have the groove. a phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!

igor jadranin aka en-tropic signs his new ep – >between two extremes<, for the record label underground limited.this release clearly proves igors unmatched talent and maturity in music production. the lead theme of this ep >between two extremes< – a very deep and powerful theme, carefully broken by rhythm and still a gentle and emotional jazzy looped composition – is surely my personal favorite from this release.cooperation with marko vukovic is embodied in the track >back again< – a minimal deep house filled with rhythm, not the kind of rhythm produced by percussions and other drumming instruments but rather by a cut vocal and dirty synth, which breathe soul into this theme.
>zero loss circuit<, which has an expressed club spirit, is the ideal piece for building an atmosphere in a club. igors music definitively deserves a spot on every good djs list.

supernature hasnt put a foot wrong since its inception back in late-2007 with a stream of fluid, percussive housereleases hitting the spot for an army of high profile jocks.
>el condor< by pele closes a great 2009 for the label and maintains the quality levels in fine style. with just a handful of original releases since 2005, mostly for the impeccable connaisseur imprint, patrick gallenmüller aka pele has managed to make a disproportionate impact on housemusic. his releases and remixes have seen massive support and a quick check on his myspace reveals a dj diary of artists twice as prolific - a testament to the quality of his work (and his djing). the title cut of this threetrack/one remix ep sees the bavarian producer present a track which combines the simplest of elements into a hynpotic yet memorable track.

stl is the production alias of stephan laubner who has been releasing material under a variety of pseudonyms on labels likeperlon, smallville, styrax and his own something records imprint over the past decade. stephans productions are like fine wine, they develop, mature and get better with age. his past releases have gained support and charts from detroit luminaries like derrick may & theo parrish to the berghain collective, ben klock, marcel dettmann & steffi. his recent licensing of silent state on cassys new simply devotion mix on cocoon, ames fabric mix, steve bugs the lab and earning the number 1 spot ingroove magazines chart all speak volumes about the level of love and passion he puts into his productions. with stephans check mate he pays homage to a sound we simply adore, a musical conceit only a select few understand, hand crafting his sounds with a variety of analog signal processors, vintage synthesizers and a loving touch reminiscent of the early deepchord years. this is one to treasure, made for repeat listening

over the years naples, italy has always been a hot spot for incredible dancefloor techno house. recently the re-formation of the cities freshest production duo (massi dl and dario di pace) was brought to the attention of cynosure recordings. of course we jumped on this release immediately and are very proud to present “horacio is back” “durango” is a sure fire, tried, tested and true bomb. a stunning combination of jackin new york basement style house with the finest side of “basic channel” berlin style techno.

aduly only 36 introduces yakine on a + b with a julien chaptal remix. drop it - a jackin, upbeat house cut with lots of bounce to the ounce. solid groovy swing, thick bassline, and some bboy vox stabs for some in yo face hits. nice and tracky, take it to for a lengthy mix in or out, its a pick up. stickney - punchy and tracky with a tight roll for a smooth, jazzier drop stickney is asking for a prime time spot in the set. splashed with a little chi filter, the bassline roll brings the kicker. hot track with smoldering style. julien chaptal remix has a pop-lockin house feel to it with its sliced and diced elements, this is a tight jam. sweet build for a stack full of speakers, could be dirty or classy, either or this tracks works a sweaty floor.

heres a very limited 3 track ep from blast heads 6th cd album nu island. blast head is the most important and respected unit of japanese underground scene for over 10 years. dj hikaru is the most busiest dj who based on japanese most cultural spot grassroots tokyo. dr.tetsu is the programmer who produced some artist like ua and so on... nu wave is the 9 minute over peak time dance track. featured live steal pan playing by tico (little tempo). heres great fusion of caribbean feel organic sounds and head rush dance groove. sky high is the jazz funk/fusion feel disco/boogie track. if you like cro magnon sound, this tracks must be fits for you. bbq jam is the downtempo jam with the elements of jazz, dub, world music.

a 12inch ep called here we come is filled with funky, groove and latin techno ryhmes from well known and respected artists in today s techno scene. a side contains american express techno machine bryant baker cooperating with croatian dj and producer miche. their track just deserves to be on the pole position spot a1. funky, groove and unique are just 3 words describing their work as a team. a2 spot represented by upcoming spanish star rantan.
da ghetto party is one track among the others which is really special and exclusively done for >beat forming< this lp. nice and smooth, groove and driving techno.
b side has been reserved for a latino dancefloor kicker done by josh love. the track is called sexiest rasta. jamaican rasta voice, nice groove beat and overrated control over everything. josh did a good work by making this happen. great track to jump on!
the last but not the least is a track done by kai aka vortechtral on b2. nice, smooth, groove and melodic techno track to dance on. great one for filling the 3rd deck with >the badman< voice thru the track.
beatformers are sure that this is an ep to keep an eye on. here we come ep is one of the newest on the market. a new era of techno on the 12inch!

massive trippy techno release by swedish rising star van rivers and it rocks like hell! van rivers worked as producer on the debut album of fever ray (karin dreijer from the knife) and also tours with her live band. his previous releases on stockholm ltd and islands & islets got big support from marcel dettman, josh wink, ryan elliot, joey beltram and this release will surely follow. stretched out on pavement is a deep, punchy and trippy techno piece for the floor as well as the mind, like you may expect from a sd records release. the nukubus remix on the b side takes everything into the pumping techno/electro arena with a soulful, spacey edge to it. both mixes are spot on and will rock many floors. big one!

its been almost a year since the release of efdemins fantastic two-tracker >america/the pulse<. >america<, that was also used on his curle mix-cd >carry on...<, became quite a big tune and even ended up on the number one spot in groove magazines chart. therefor efdemin preferred that no-one touched that track anymore, and we decided to give >the pulse< a remix treatment. john beltran is a highly respected artist that has been around since the early nineties - r&s! peacefrog! styrax! - and when we heard the ultra-funky mega-bomb he made from >the pulse<, we knew we made the right decision to ask him. another one of our long time favourites from accross the ocean is convextion aka e.r.p. he did some ground-breaking stuff on matrix, down low and frantic flowers. we asked him to do a remix of crcs amazing take on detroit techno, >vaskitsaherra<, originally on curle 009. the result ended up being nothing else than a timeless piece of art.

nice price deal !!! alessio mereu, a classical piano player since he was just an eight years old kid, moved to electronic music in the last few years with his trade mark hypnotic and full of groove defined style. even though he is a very young artist, he is a talented and appreciated producer who broke the scene just at 18. recorded for eminor records, orion & paco osunas mind shake label.
this, his 1st release for pick pocket, will feature some of his best work, francas heart has all the marks of being a hit, groove is so spot on & melodies coming in & out through out the track. this has all the right elements in the right places. a classic 10 / 10
dancing in the dark - this track simply moves you in so many ways, excellent percussive programing & synth lines that wave in & out of this simply. very nice piece of work. a new talented artist to watch out for in 2008.
padded cell - pick pocket comes with yet another deep cut, this time more minimaldub than techno, with some deep basic channel frequencies that will make you connect with your deeper side. it s all about the rhythm & the sound ...

clone classic cuts continues to dig in the crates to bring back forgotten or obscure records from the past! this is 3 tracks by da posse (produced by hula... one of the outthere brothers... and with maurice joshua, k fingers & martell). strings & its my life are chicagos take on detroit techno... a rare release that sounds like a early derrick may record (think the dance) but maybe slightly more straight forward (as one might expect from chicago). a rare piece in house and techno history since this is one of the rare examples of a record that doesnt show the clear difference between chicago and detroit in the late 80s. this record most likely got produced within 1 year after rhythm = rhythms legendary nude photo and strings of life releases (both 87 and this came out in 88). as extra bonus track we have the groove. a phat bass driven chicago acid track that still rocks it. another fine piece of powerful dance music history back in the spot light!

ultimately affected by this summer, remain records 007: cool water e.p. by axel karakasis aims at keeping the vibes high for the new season. this year has been exceptionally good for axel and remain records, so this release is more of a celebration signalling the third year of the label, which grows stronger by the day!this 3 track e.p. opens up with orisha on the main side, a spot on tune with a straight kick and minimal techno elements that gradually build up to embrace the main character sample. at its peak, the track makes an inspired transition into funky, laidback groove, where axel works mostly present day sounds with 90s intelligence! the second track on the side is a far cry from orisha, as let it roll does exactly that: it rolls! bassheavy throughout, it s an insane piece of work with smart cuts that give way to teasing loopy layers. this track is a burner for serious techno players!the title track on the remain side begins as a mishmash of dub groove, and a rolling bassline. midway, cool water has an extended cut that builds up with relentless sirens and its menacing bassline that seem endless. in a word: flawless!
