copenhagens echocord colour returns this mid november with brendom moellers magic city ep, featuring four originals from the new york based artist. brendon moeller has long been a purveyor of authentic dub-infused techno since stepping onto the scene via his 2006 sweetspot / humpback ep via echocord and has since gone on to release on reputable imprints such as third ear, kimochi sound, delsin’s ann aimee, mule musiq and of course his very own steadfast. here though moeller makes a welcome return to where it all began with some fresh material for echocords colour sub- label. caravan takes the lead on the release and in typical brendon moeller fashion were treated to densely layered dub chords, throbbing subs and expansive atmospherics whilst robust drums drive the composition along. magic city’ follows and ups the energy levels even further with pounding industrial drums layered underneath billowing dub stabs and eerie drones. ‘magic city in dub’ follows and as the name suggests offers up a reduced take on the composition, dropping the tempo and shining light on the billowing echoes of the original whilst stirring in some off-kilter rhythsm and additional processing for good measure. lastly,departure closes the package, with haunting synth drones, bumpy rhythms and murky vocals wandering throughout the seven-minute composition

audio reflex, aka anderson, is back, with his final four tracker on telomere plastic! this beautiful ep is another blend of mid tempo and deep electronics. funky baselines and beats throughout will give you the chance to get moody and groovy deep in the middle of your sets!

a planned reissue for many years, the untimely passing of steve coe shortly after the label s rerelease of the ganges orchestra s the dream put everything on hold. however, time moves and so now seems a fitting time to revisit this -world dance- classic with fonder hearts. long cherished, it is a reminder of steve s enduring studio mastery. after the initial success of his work with sheila chandra in monsoon, steve expanded his musical scope, working on an indipop compilation as clubs looked to eastern flavours to add a new dimension for the dancefloor. teaming up with tabla disciple turned teacher, jhalib (millar), as well as long time collaborator martin smith, it s hard to imagine mysteries was first heard in 1982. hailed as an all time classic, it s enduring appeal can be seen in how it became a staple for the likes of danielle baldelli at the infamous cosmic club and beyond to become an original evissa -balearic- secret play for weatherall & co in those fateful summers of love and beyond. remastered especially for this release, the orchestral eastern melody and mid-tempo chugging rhythms and vocals marry in perfection with a dub bassline of wobble inspired depth. this alone would be enough, however, the original is at last backed with the 1988 remix. aimed at the then burgening new beat scene, a subtle straightening kick is added, but it s the unmistakable vocals of sheila chandra that finally brings this release together in melodic harmony. peace be with you steve. i am x

repress - tyrone davis was a hugely prolific blues & soul singer who was born in mississippi in 1937. he started his career as blues legend freddie king’s personal chauffeur and valet and cut a few soul 45’s that didn’t make too much noise at the time. a few years later things had turned around for young tyrone and he’d caught the ear of chicago music impresario carl davis who had just set up his own label - dakar records. having worked with legendary outfits including the chi-lites, bohannon, jackie wilson and many more, carl davis was exactly the link that tyrone needed to gain more exposure for his music. after a very successful career with dakar and almost 25 singles with the label across 7 years, tyrone signed to major columbia which is where, in 1978, this much sought after promo-only disco jammer came from. released in limited quantities and only available as a columbia white-label dj promo “get up (disco)” is a total mid-tempo burner, raw funked-out soul of the highest degree! true underground disco flavour here, one for the freaks, smooth, but heavy enough to cause some serious damage in the dance. featured here in it’s original promo 12- mix, untouched and backed with the equally dope “in the mood” from 1979. some of you will undoubtedly recognise “in the mood” as a jam that was heavily sampled by the beatnuts, faith evans, mc eiht, redman and more! this one’s a low slung, lights down lovers jam and the perfect foil to the a-side. two heavyweight jams on one 12”, remastered from the original source material and 100% legit, reissued with the full consent of sony / columbia records. essential for all disco / soul / funk fans.

2022 repress - ltd 1 copy / customer - sophie lloyd produced calling out in a dreary january as an antidote to the pervading doom and gloom of the news, summoning the power of the most joy-filled sound of all, gospel. the track radiates all the live atmosphere of gospel worship in mid flow, with soul trio dames brown bringing the authenticity. following the 7” release, which sold out due to huge demand, comes the 12” complete with the original version plus two brand new mixes from floorplan. the duo of detroit techno pioneer robert hood and his daughter lyric hood are well known for their gospel-infused sound with hood’s hometown influences always apparent. their club mix opens with a heavily swinging groove which breaks down into pure 4/4 indulgence, while the revival mix singles out the looped piano and organ riffs. putting their assertive spin on this new classic anthem, floorplan turn up the levels on calling out, bathing it in further glory.
