jürgen karg’s career in music began in the 1960s as bass player for german jazz legend wolfgang dauner. it was not until the 1970’s that he switched his attention to electronic music, launching himself wholeheartedly into exploring the genre and building up an extensive collection of synthesizers over a five year period. his efforts culminated in “elektronische mythen”, a mighty opus of experimental music which reveals new aspects every time it is played. jürgen karg’s music is deeply serious, as vexing as a jamais vu, yet absolutely beautiful. “elektronische mythen” is an album which fits like a puzzle piece between the first and second soundtracks for a clockwork orange. it’s worth to check it out!

here we see italian brother duo elia and niro perrone, release their debut long player in the shape of ‘pescaiola’ the name of the suburbs the pair grew up and paying homage to their musical roots growing up together. across the duration of the ‘pescaiola’ lp easy to remember serve up a amalgamation of raw and intriguing electronic, house and techno cuts. opener ‘hanckora’ lays down a lo-fi infused hip hop style to kick things off, while ‘checkma dem’ lies in similar territory with the addition of some vocal stylings as well. for the most part though easy to remember lay the focus on emotive house music, title track ‘pescaiola’ plays on multi-layered melodies and retro synths, ‘hijack percussion’ focuses on gritty rhythm and soft atmospherics and ‘try to escape’ brings to light ethereal synth leads and snaking bass grooves. the duo instil some funk influence into the lp as well via ‘feelings’ and some experimental touches as well with their giulio etiope collaboration ‘degolas’ amongst others. all in all easy to remember deliver a refreshing take on modern electronica across the project and further prove unclear is a force to be reckoned with in the underground.

kid flicks is the music project started by greek producer and songwriter nickos devisis. highly in?uenced by the bright side of contemporary athenian life, multiculturalism and the internet culture, kid flicks created a unique sound which draws from various genres and styles. from electronic to sample-based music to psych pop to world music, the album full of upbeat pop melodies, explosive percussion and greek, middle eastern and african music references. kid flicks third album kid flicks and first with an updated 3-piece line up, will be released by klik records in greece and wordandsound in the rest of europe on late june. on december 2015 they showcased at glimps festival in belgium and their creative process and involvement in the athenian music scene were one of the subjects of cbc arts documentary series interrupt this program. they currently work with brooklyn-based pr agency drunken piano (carpark, yep roc) and booker jj pallis (boogarins).

bopsides first release for 2016 comes from label owner tadd mullinix, releasing under his birth name for the first time since 2002s panes on ghostly international. this album is comprised of 3 long form experimental electro-acoustic compositions, 2 of which clock in around the 15 minute mark, and another clocking in around 9 minutes, taking you fully into the imagination of an artist who is constantly experimenting and redefining the sonic landscape. recorded on a variety of equipment and instruments, these 3 recordings capture a human side and sense of playfulness, while at the same time taking you into the heart of darkness.
