always a rare treat when a ready-formed and devastatingly good project comes our way three emails and a delivery truck later. we re very happy to be lending a hand getting this one to good homes the world over no info to be had. other than a cleverly plotted out ouija of the label name. some very fetching old school purple master bag sleeves & three incredible cuts of secret origin via the mystifying oracle that is mutable.
skylax is proud to welcome a new member in the gang : demuja ! the austrian producer who did the vinyl only mary janes theory record caused something of a stir when it came out at the start of the year. clearly inspired by the raw classic deep house sound. his releases find a home also on other various labels such as freerange. house puff. traxx underground and legendary nyc house nervous. he gave us the chance to get 5 monstruous cuts straight from his basement (where he s doing his already cult videos showing his impressive skills as a producer). instant classic !
local talk broadens the palette further with new music by melbourne producer prequel. the a side plays host to freedom. a jazzy. undulating. mixed-up house sound that epitomises the spirit of prequel in one track. it s loose and swinging beat infused with hip-shaking bass. heavily percussive piano riffs and crunchy claps only quieten to make way for an unidentified vocal. who politely thanks you for listening and hopes you have a great time while you are here. it sits perfectly in peak-time territory as it does on a late night afterhours tip. on the flip is the ever evolving lefty . a track that starts off playful & dreamy and features some truly lovely keyboard work. after settling into the groove it takes a sudden and sharp left turn and enters a harder acid focused workout. percussive elements weave definitively in and out of the bass line as detroit influenced vocal cries echo throughout the background. this is the type of track you ll be sure to hear blasting out of speaker stacks on all open-minded dance floors around the globe. another accomplished and celebratory affair from prequel. it comes highly recommended.

deep and tripping stuff from argentine producer. ana helder.. the label say: ana helder. the argentinian girl with the special twist. is back with a hand full of tracks. they are mean. dirty. harmful. amorevolous. seductive and addictive. surrender tunes from a producer and dj that does not think in boxes. for müstique she looked into her always-growing production crate and found some post-punk waving funk odes. which want more than just to dance this mess around. they bring soulful lsd-melodies for jazz lovers with techno legs that like to get high on liquid liquid. they are electronic but yet so organic. and they move deeply while spreading the feel of a meditative rest. when diagnose heard them first. he came to the idea of writing a script for a flick that tells the story of a music-making machine. which has more to offer than answers. it forms sound with no traces of reality. but is so human that humans fear it. why did he think that way? only because of what ana helder recently got to say? well. let the music play
nicola altieri aka the mechanical man. from naples is the newest entry in the bosconi family. after contributing with one track on -the sweetest- series on bosconi extra virgin. he delivers here a rich eight tracker mini lp on. where casio sounds. yamaha fm synths and akai samplers are the main ingredients to give birth to his own compositions.
sounding like a constipated and forced minimalistic funky music created in a small bedroom environment. warm. dirty and slowed down like from an old tape cassette but full bodied. the release begins with the intimate and dark mood of sam and keeps going on with the mysterious vibes of march. the breakbeat rhythm of the broken gravity track and the smokey atmosphere of the downbeat sketch slap. more mechanical grooves on b side with the percussive mid tempo of attrazioni and more ethereal. intergalactic broken beats with amarcord. going back to obscurity with the soulful slow house jam of gess. while the dubby the new stein track close up the release with a touch of micro spacial spirituality. mechanical soul for you ears.

the last essential outing of 2017 for the play it say it label is from legendary dj and producer harry romero. globally acclaimed and recognised star harry romero has been a driving force in the scene since the 90s. he’s released on such seminal labels as sex mania. power music and strictly rhythm. but also contemporary imprints like ovum and defected. never far from the dance charts and an inductee into pete tong s hall of fame. harry’s own bambossa records is another fine chapter in his definitive story. here he shows off his current sound across three fresh tracks. opening up the ep is the arresting ‘mother earth.’ a percussive and tribal number with pinging kicks and loose hits all encouraging you to cut shapes. bright synths rise up through the mix to bring some tension and drama and crowds are certain to react with hands in the air. the masterfully mangled ‘lesson on swing’ is a vibrant brew of skewed synths and surging bass. vocal yelps and wonky chords that will freak out any floor. it’s another robust and full fat tune from the studio of harry romero. last of all is ‘scatter’. a high-pressure tune with characteristically big drums and fat bass all overlaid with vocal effects that build the intensity. hooky little synth motifs and metallic percussion all add to the steaminess and ensure this a huge anthem in the making. this is a top trio of tunes that are imbued with all the knowledge and know how of a real house legend

forevernevermore was originally released in 2000 and is the second full length on peacefrog from kenny dixon jnr. gathering together the best strands of moodymann s late- 90s tracks on kdj. forevernevermore re-interprets these rare and sought after gems twisting and blending them into a new mesmerizing and idiosyncratic stew which offers new insight into these now classic retro-disco funk tracks. containing unique and stone cold classics such as don’t you want my love. wednesday night people and the thief that stole my bad days. forevenevermore is perhaps kenny’s most soulful full length and the sheer emotive nature of these tracks and their relatively down-tempo beats make this album more of a reflective listening experience on par with sentimental albums such as marvin gaye s let s get it on and stevie wonder s talking book than traditional house music. limited stock available. so be quick!

landing as gene tellem s first record. -who says no- is a product of change. new relationships and collaborations emerged out of a time when familiar spaces in montreal were disappearing. this state of ambiguity. and improvisation inspired the freeform structures and subtle transformations heard in these tracks. while -moving in this way- and the title tune push forward with intention. -soul of man- floats between lush drones. a pitch bent lead. and a pair of haunting chords. -we were all being tested in different ways. and trying to figure out what would happen next...-
frank went from a stranger to a friend in a heartbeat. the common passion for music and overall values let us to this first project together. grab your board and surf on the soundwaves of analogue gear with which frank created his soulful music. the analogue touch didn t stop with the music though. we tried to retain it through the whole project from the music over the mastering up to the medium itself. vinyl.

dj haus ever-expanding deviant house music empire continues to impress with another installment of house crime. this time committed by szch. the 12inch kicks off with the fast and freaky girl i neva which borders on juke levels of nagging sample chops. before the script gets crumpled up and tossed at the bin with the wonderfully scruffy rave deconstruction of peugeot 106 at sunrise (pingers mix). unconditional (edit) brings something a little smoother to the mix. although that underlying weirdness that comes with house crime releases is still lurking in the wings. ukljucen ti je blutut finishes the ep off in a rowdy yet reflective style long may the strange tale of house crime continue.
ltd 2017 repress - as well as steering stripped & chewed. garrett david has been holding down a residency at chicago s smart bar for some time. on a roll following an appearance on distant hawaii. the time finds the producer in fine fettle with a classic approach to deep house clearly born out of the city he calls home. -the time- is a shimmying jam powered by crafty dub processing and a steady hand on the arrangement. while -sea shell- is a more passionate affair that swoons through key changes. the night sea journey remix of -the time- is a more brooding affair punctuated by synth accents for a deeper end result.
