inside out is a brand new series that invites djs and producers to blur the boundaries between traditional artist albums and mix compilations. coming from aus music label head and dj-kicks curator will saul. the concept encourages artists to showcase their own music and or the music of those in their own individual circles. the mix will be release digitally and on cd. while a selection of the tracks will also be available on double gatefold vinyl. each instalment will feature 100% new and unreleased music. it is a chance for artists to take sole creative charge. a&r as they see fit and then commission brand new music specifically for the cause. depending on who is at the helm. inside out will take different forms: producers may wish to represent their own sound with only music they have made themselves or with close collaborators. while djs and label heads may wish to reflect the sounds and scenes that surround them. the results will be a window into an artists world that works as a coherent mix. but also as a treasure trove of fresh new music that steps outside the usual lines of a dance album. the idea stems from will sauls own approach in the club. which often finds him seeking out brand new and unheard music to play for the first time. that feeling of taking people into the unknown is one that reminds him of the energy and excitement of his early days as a dancer.
sudd records make the leap to vinyl with the help of detroit champ gari romalis. abstraxx (linear mix) kicks off the record in a heady fog of undulating pads. the smoke positively drifting out of the speaker cones over a simple. deep-as-you-like drum pattern. dark ryda (sunset mix) gets a little more funk in its rhythm. but the same mellow mood prevails. almost reaching dub techno levels in its atmospheric chord swells. heat (bout that life mix) takes things out of the darkness and into a lighter frame of mind. but romalis is still firmly in the deep end of the deep house pool with this final cut on the record.

frits wentinks label bobby donny welcomes back young us producer tlim shug for a second ep after his last effort back in 2016. his house sound has developed nicely but remains resolutely deep and atmospheric. it s the sound of a slow train on a warm summer s day. passing through the countryside and encourage you to daydream. warm. fuzzy pads drift by as muted rhodes keys bring a jazz touch. occasional clever vocal sounds ensure a certain intimacy and romanticism to the deep house grooves. its a lo-fi and imperfect beatdown record with well-sampled drums adding a touch of soul.

having previously appeared alongside tommi vicari jr on a 12inch last year. opto mystics strike out on their own with this 12inch for italian powerhouse vibraphone. new horizon very much represents the new school approach with the long serving italian house label. keeping that deep. melodic quality but embracing new rhythms. tones and approaches. new horizon almost has an akufen quality to it. while bucky triangle could easily transmit from the motor city house scene. m.i.y.e. is a swirling blur of gorgeous synths. and -suddent- finishes the ep off on a surprisingly experimental tip.
four tracks of ny-flavoured boogie and house goodness - quality is the key word from copenhagen based music for dreams and here is another home run. willie graff splits his year between dj residencies in new york and ibiza. in this new outing with studio partner darren eboli. the influence is. as the title suggests. clearly ny-based. over only four tracks. the pair manage to craft a stunningly comprehensive exploration of the essential elements of dance music. opening track -love flight- staggers into a lush string-driven groove that recalls the glory of metro area meets wally badarou vibes. minimal yet playful. it lounges somewhere in the depths of the house tradition. calling on familiar sounds while throwing in odd details along the way (harmonicas?). it takes both skill. devotion and a sense of humor to pull this track off. making for a strong opening. -moon tan- lingers on a metallic hook that drags you into a plethora of percussion followed by a rubbery soft baseline. dubby key work would suggest this was a new wave band jamming at compass point. while the icy chill of the xylophone transports you into 80s italo territory. -second sun- pulls out the bag of boogie tricks. relying on a firm but humble baseline and smattering drum machine claps. nile rodgers-style guitar licks guide us onwards into a well-orchestrated jam that builds up and breaks down with perfect timing while dreamy chords reach for the sky. -first light- keeps the groove tight while dipping over towards more balearic temperatures. steeped in a watery atmosphere and gentle organic percussion. it focuses in on a trance-inducing arpeggio that lulls you in to the swaying badarou-style synth swirls that intercept it.

two of dance musics hottest producers coalesce on the latest hot creations release. frank storm and matteo spedicati bring us gimme tha honey. a throbbing three-track ep that gifts us with a rework from robsoul label boss phil weeks. frank storm reveals -this is our first collaboration which was born a year ago in our studio in barcelona. we share the same passion for our own definition of the ghetto sound. blending fresh and techy vibes.” with this inspiration they weave an almost menacing vocal into the pulsating bassline of lead track gimme tha honey. the phil weeks remix brings a slither of light with a shower of synths and warm. bubbling bass. the ep closes with the long wait shaking the record into heavier terrain. as the industrial keys are underpinned by a flurry of tough drums. frank storm has been a key player on the white isle having played at some of the island’s biggest clubs. space. sankey’s. pacha. ministry of sound and zoo project. as well holding down a residency at the night unusual suspects. matteo spedicati began releasing music in 2006 and has received support from ricardo villalobos and richie hawtin. since then he’s gone on to work with such high profile names as joseph capriati and mendo. as well as releasing records on an abundance of top labels.
late last year. we modestly celebrated the sixth anniversary of lph records by releasing a 10-inch that reconnected us with our very first ep by bringing back two of the artists who contributed to it. runaway and soft rocks. now. as a sort of companion to that. we have lph___vi . a 7-inch that gives shine to a couple other names that have been spotted on lph party flyers of old and back catalog credits. jacques renault and daniel t. both these are fun. flavorful little disco nugs united by funky bass guitar fretwork and plenty of sassy woodblock. though jacques leans towards the goofy and daffy. whereas daniels brings some synth-pop seriousness into the frame. as befits the format. both hover around four minutes in length.
dimensions recordings fifth release sees the label step into the world of the long player with istanbul native. kerem akdag s self-titled debut album. kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of gilles peterson through his previous output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years. and of course via his getdownsoclose offering on dimensions debut release. his debut album however. sees kerem deliver a mature piece of work. bright and timeless. equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas. hooks and must have songs. across eight tracks kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. from the stepping beats of when i think of you to his subtle vocal layers on isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of sultan to the squelching. rasping synths of unite it s clear that there s very little that s outside of kerem s arsenal. the album rounds out fittingly with drums please. which perfectly displays kerem s jazz tendencies. a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that s more powerful than its parts. kerem akdag s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!listen up! pressed on clear vinyl with a metallic sticker insert.
for our second ep. we are shifting from manila. philippines. to our other home city. bangkok. the thai kingdom’s capital. hailing from here is dott. one of three founders of more rice. a truly home grown bangkok electronic producer. dj and the talent behind mah noi ep. dott already has a number of releases under his belt and is now a regular on the asian circuit. playing gigs around the region. at 26 years old this is quite impres- sive and we are very proud to be releasing his first pressed record under more rice.

the first full artist ep of 2018 is one by a new artist for heist. but a familiar name for any modern day house aficionado: adryiano. after taking 2016 off. he came back guns blazing in 2017. releasing 5 solo eps in 1 year on labels like shall not fade and baka gaijin. his me and you and her ep for heist showcases his contemporary view on classic house and acid. and is an experiment into how much distortion a track can actually handle when youve got a killer sample hook. me and you and her is about as classic as a house track can be and moves in similar fashion as his post-2013 hit ‘on my side. its got a sweet and repetitive vocal loop. some semi-grainy but definitely groovy percussion and a deceptively simple piano hook. add some filtering and youve got a lovely warm house song that can go on forever. the a2 move it. move it moves straight into old-school chicago territory. with a raw af acid bassline. chicago bred jamie 3:26. now residing in its dutch counterpart rotterdam. gives the track a nice old school twist. hes going full 707 on the percussion and has casually added an amazing synth hook to give the remix a true vibe of its own. the ep closes off with fashion country girl: adryianos dystopian view of a world where dolly parton gets mangled through an overdrive. then gets distorted. crushed. mangled. deleted. re-added in 8 bit and then crushed some more. the result is an uptempo roller with more than enough grit. and just enough tongue-in-cheek to make everyone smile a little bit more. yours sincerely. maarten & lars.
2volt and emasa land their first posthouse ep on eademvoce. four tracks that serve all needs. with a strictly selected sound palette declined in four different moods. a1 delivers the hypnotic energy which is necessary to take off in a brief and significant journey into the past future. a2 is a pit-stop. giving the listener a pause to gaze around. leaving a chance to the mind evaporate into the synthetic atmospheres. b1 turns the situation in a determined hunt for something hidden. in a scenario dominated by rubbery tweaks and acid stabs. b2 is the celebration of arrival. the success of discovering something unique traveling in an acid path that cross a forest of morbid synths.
leigh darlow and matthew bandy have got plenty of experience in the world of deep house. both individually and as saison. building on a solid run of releases for papa records. the project makes its vinyl debut on guesthouse with some undeniably catchy jams for the peak of the night. -please don t go- is a cool slice of party fodder that hinges on a classic soul vocal hit. while -do you- gets a little more choppy in the mix with yet more recognisable licks that should get the masses sweating and swaying without needing to resort to a hectic tempo. -the moody blues- lets the keys do the talking. while yet another of the hefty grooves saison craft so well rolls out underneath.
2018 repress . four timeless killer tracks from nick holder reissued by deep & roll for their first release. reminiscin ep pays tribute to the diversity of house music that the canadian producer has put together over the years. starting with *a word from mr prince* and its 70s jazz-funk grooves. the second track *feelin sad* shifts into a deeper and more emotional atmosphere. face b features disco floor filler *eddies groove* and the insane combination between freaky vocals and pumpin bassline on *phat track*.
copenhagen s tartelet is returning to their roots with a dancefloor-focused ep. pizza trance. from dirk 81—a.k.a label head emil m. nyholm. having previously dropped a slew of tracks as muff deep and ctepeo 57 (with max graef). the dj and producer is blessing the universe with three cuts of dancefloor heaven under a new moniker lifted from his days tagging concrete walls in the 90s. influences draw everywhere from disco. to african hi-life. dub. underworld. a few old trance records. and timeless house music.
recorded over a year in berlin and copenhagen. the record kicks off with -m.f.c-. a disco-afro-house hybrid oozing with roland jupiter 6 keys and some funky drums processed on old equipment from the former ussr. the b-side spreads things deep and delicious with -pizza trance (main mix).- a euphoric serving of sounds that substitutes pepperonis and pineapples for glittering sequencers and a bangin bass drum.
the ep s closer tastes like a bit of both. mixing up some more acid sounds into the recipe for a retro-sounding house track. it s another tasty delight from the label that will fulfil any and all late-night cravings. especially if you fiend for neapolitan pizza.. leave room for seconds.
r.kitt is not a man of half measures. his approach to making tracks is all about an obsession with the philosophy of a dancefloor and how to communicate that in a musical moment. the result is tingle. a fully realised four track ep. showcasing unique slices of soulful house. progressive yet warmly familiar.
secret lover returns with one that hits all the angles. a record for the lovers and haters. the movers and the dancers? truly a record for the people! now let s say you re home by yourself. pour yourself a drink. pop on your house coat and lay down by the fire. let the tunes take ya over. could get spicy. know what i mean?

having recently appeared on bosconi records and altzmusica. daisuke kondo is a producer on the rise at present. this outing on vibraphone adds fuel to that particular fire with four distinctive cuts that push to the outer edges of house music without losing sight of the groove. -hold on to love- is. on the surface. an upbeat. disco-infused house jam. but there s a certain trippy approach kondo takes in the processing department that edges the music into a different head space. -life- meanwhile gets gritty and bass heavy at one end of the frequency range. and airy and melodic at the other. -feelin blue- gets even dustier and scratchier with its sample treatment. and then -fallen star- lays down some unflinching machine beats with wonky. distant piano licks.
