nice price deal !!! the rejuvinated playtime presents worthy and yankee zulus >the bs connection<. the san francisco / katabatic / dirtybird star worthy versus irelands yankee zulu, whose recent tracks have had raves from luciano, pig and dan and playtime favourite justin robertson. it s already being played to death by claude von stroke, it s got that wonderfully lazy funk that we like round here, and it s got a killer andre crom remix that makes the groove simultaneously more insistent and weirdly looser

b-side: dis yah one i love - heavy track with a garage feel to it. breezy synths tie it down but the real focus is on the percussion, the beat is tremendous!

simbad teams up with south african vocalist brian temba, whose previous release together come join in dropped on hi:rise back in 2011. in it’s original form take my hand is a sublime, forward-looking deep and soulful house track based around a filtering symphonic string loop, low-slung groove and heart-felt vocal. simbad has created a very london-centric vibe but with a french touch and detroit sensibilities, drawing from house heroes such as parrish and bradock, joining the dots and creating a fresh masterpiece in the process. next up we have jimpster on the remix, picking up the bpm’s slightly and loading up on his trademark deep stabs, sub-bass and spacious fx adding just enough dance-floor bump whilst leaving the vocal placed firmly at the core. on the flip side we have two smbd zulu edits which replace the more spartan groove of the original with some driving afro percussion. the first version keeps the vocal intact, the second version goes balls deep into dub territory, closing out this amazing release with an instrumental pushing the strings and hypnotic groove front and centre

next up on dabj, hissman aka fabio monesi is an artist we have been massive fans of since we started playing nobodys talking which featured on our 2014 dabj bbc radio 1 essential mix a few years back. through his labels hardmoon and wilson records, he has brought some of the freshest jams to our ears in quite some time. for his first outing on dabj, shit gets real. masterfully crafted mechanized, rough, tough techno belters in that inimitable hissmanstyle... dont sleep on this.

as a companion release to his new material on is / was, mark has been kind enough to let us dig through his extensive back catalog, remaster and reissue three pearls from the crayon label heyday. zulu groove and warehouse blues roll along the darker technoid mode mark was known for at the time, while thru showcases the lighter, bouncier side of his style.

>it is the time ep< is the first solo release by sabbo, sought after dj and producer, one of the busiest beat-makers in israel, and one fourth of dj/producer team, soulico. sabbo describes his style as bounce-hall: a lethal combination of reggae and dancehall riddims, infused with heavy bass and a party bounce feel, informed by club, dubstep and electro.
the vocalists on this ep were recorded in jamaica by sabbo and his long time partner (on many other projects), kutiman. also featured are vocals by zulu, chicagos leading dancehall artist. sabbos tracks have received heavy support on many blogs and websites such as discobelle, mad decent and pitchfork media.
sabbo has worked with some jamaica s finest - steven marley, damien marley & turbulence, to name but a few. locally, he collaborated with some of israel most notable musicians, while producing many chart topping hits for a new breed of artists, refreshing the stale israeli airwaves with a much needed dose of b o o ta y.

kenny dope gonzales and lil louie vega made their production debut on the new york label way back when, so there can be no one more fitting to compile the first new album release on the imprint. in case you didnt know, strictly rhythm were one of the most important house labels of the 1990s. established by entrepreneur mark finkelstein and serious club babe gladys pizzarro, the label would launch the careers of, among others, roger sanchez, erick morillo and, as we ve seen, masters at work. pretty significant, then! strictly maw is an album no true househead will want to miss
