three tracks here evoking familiar feelings heard before but still somehow they all sound fresh and drag you in wanting for more. as if this wouldn t do it, there is first but, not last appearance for barba label by mighty jtc who needs no further introduction delivering a remix. this time he cleverly uses sparse but recognizable parts of title track which he then transforms into relentless floor shaker where detroit meets chicago, if any such comparison needs to be made. aquatic stuff !

you dont have enough fingers on one hand to count the number of tadd mullinixs musical aliases. often does an artist want to explore disparate genres, and sometimes they try by releasing under various project names. rarely does this ever work, but its part of mullinixs growing legacy to consistently pull it off with tact, empathy and exuberance.

jtc is a phenomenon. one alias of the multi-talented tadd mullinix. one part of a mind that also houses dabrye, sk-1, charles manier, and halves of tnt, 2am/fm and x2. this time round, on park days, he flexes a house side that has not been seen too often in his career of 13 years. whether the driving groove of south brooks, the late night drum machine jam of argo, creals ever evolving scatter, or the delicate gallup, park days is one of those records where everyone has a different favourite. ie - a good one. we are honoured to release this mans music. a man that continually remains out of the spotlight, yet is revered by your favourite producers for at least one of his many aliases. a man that ignores trends, hype, trickery, and just returns every now and again to nudge that bar a little bit higher than he left it last.

nick sinna has been on the radars lately with his debut release for prime numbers pn13. sticking to the dark corners of the dance floor as of late, we have commissioned the spaced out bass child, conforce and spectrals secret weapon, jtc (aka dabrye) to add their touch with 2 remixes. conforce takes sinnas >real time< further down the worm hole, adding molten pressure to the percussion, and cutting up & reinforcing the vocal samples. while the acid warrior himself, jtc stays true to his roots on his rework of >voyager<, taking the edge off the snap and slicking the groove down to a more deep, melodic trip. pn13 has already received diverse support by the likes of ben klock, marcel dettman, dvs1 and mr. scruff.

frigio consistently plumb the depths of electronics to find new material, and this time the madrid imprint has unearthed, in the murky currents, a real gem. tecwaa is the solo project of york based producer paul fawcett, a musician who discovered his sound in the british warehouse parties of the early nineties and went on to nurture it with movie scores, detroit techno and homegrown electronica. his debut brings together three pieces of original machine music alongside a very special remix. the menacing -the eighth circuit- broods into being. looming synthwork is further darkened by distant vocals, house percussion keeping time in this sinister opener. -mantra & machine- has similar attributes. adopting clean rhythms, the track refuses to sit comfortably in any genre pigeonhole as tecwaa weaves a work of cerebral depth. charles manier introduces the flip with his take on -fervour-, tadd mullinix returning to frigio for the first time since his superb remix as jtc of juanpablo s -dream- in 2010. a funk laden work of hip hop breaks and industrial distortion where manier explores blackened moods and horrorshow grooves. the original of -fervour- closes, showing another side of fawcett s style, bpms drop as foundations are laid bare in this stark conclusion.

tadd mullinix, who s best known for the hip-hop he makes as dabrye and the acid-tinged house and techno under jtc, has added yet another alias to his repertoire, and it might be his most inventive project to date. x-altera and its debut album, the eponymous x-altera, were born from a fit of rediscovery. all at once, the ann arbor-based producer reconnected with the jungle he produced in the late 90s as half of soundmurderer & sk-1, revisited the forgotten b-sides of his drum & bass record collection, and fell back in love with the deep, melodic techno of detroit and london.

us producer d’marc cantu needs little introduction in the world of acid house and techno. since the late 2000s he’s been serving us quality musical output on labels like crème organization, m>o>s recordings, nation, altered moods or spectral sound, just to name a few. as well as his solo productions, he’s also one half of 2am/fm unit, alongside tadd mullinix (jtc / dabrye).
using a selection of hardware tools and analogue machines, his rugged sound draws on house, techno, acid, electro and hip hop and features crafty studio skills, knowing sampling and lovable raw aesthetics, defining his own sound that became known as jakbeat.
his latest offering for little beat different is, well, rather different in comparison to his usual club oriented output. it’s not as focused on straightforward dancefloor bangers, (although they are present here too), but features more experimental pieces, suitable for home listening purposes. totalling almost 38 minutes in length, this project has more of an album feel to it than a 12”.

the dba dubs series returns with a fresh tropical house roller from samrai backed by a remix from michigan resident james t. cotton. khadi brings together samrai s tough drums and ethereal sun-kissed fx with a helping of keys from an anonymous local collaborator. on the flip jtc, the artist behind dabrye, sound murderer and a host of other cult catalogues reinvents khadi as a detroit house stepper. manchester resident via the midlands, samrai makes up 50% of the swing ting production unit. he s released with distinguished labels such as keysound, niche & bump and uttu as well as collaborating with ruf dug, murlo, brackles & hyperdub s okzharp. his dj sets take in x-amount of styles, always system-friendly with an emphasis on the soulful side of things.

in 1987, series-a recorded the single evolution5 technology at spectrum sounds studio in st. clair shores, michigan. their set up was a vocoder, e-mu emulator iii, roland 909 drum machine, and an otari 24-track recorder.

following on from their hard hitting previous release quarantine , east london s phil passera & chieka ononye deliver their 4th release as payfone on new york s golf channel recordings. a side catholic central emerges from a dark street corner to bloom into a moody synth and bass heavy rhythm, before colliding with a disco riff that could have easily been borrowed from the master tapes of late 1970 s atlanta outfit brick. featuring the vocal style of argentinian pia gonzalez antar, who in confession recalls the dark dynamic of a relationship with a previous lover many years her senior. the room shaking b side comes courtesy of d marc cantu s haze mix that delivers a pounding late night electronic soul voyage. cantu has been releasing genre defying records since the late 2000 s, and performs as one third of jakbeat super group x2 alongside traxx & jtc.  golf channel every time !

killer deep spaced out electro tracks!!! over 20 years ago shad t. scott and his pal seven set up isophlux records, miamis infamous first electronic imprint releasing, as they put techno, electro, funk, experimental, and anything good. now in year 2016, shad under his gosub alias releases this sunday at battle ship key titled ep for barba records, staying true to that initial principle. its far away from just being good though, its beautiful and warm electronic music at its best, oozing chill and feel good moods. original two tracks are accompanied with a remix by second time appearing on barba - jtc aka tadd mullinix who this time nicely surprised us with his ol school ny style house beauty. overall one fine classic record this, period.
