dream control is the collaboration of a legend of the krautrock kosmiche scene and a pioneer of the german electronic scene. zeus b. held, renowned producer (gina x performance and works under his own moniker) and steve schroyder (former member of tangerine dream during their formative period) team up to deliver their debut album -zeitgeber- which celebrates their very own sound and rhythm in a cosmic journey through audio and time. the tracks are a blend of structured compositions and improvisations accented by the throat singing of kolja simon und felix monnich aka alienvoices. the album plays like a technicolor adventure through space with explorations of cosmic disco, dreamlike passages, vocoder lullabies, and space odysseys. zeus b. held began his musical career in 1972 in french progressive art-rock band eruption before joining successful german prog rock group birth control, performing and writing with them 1973 - 1978. he was one of the first musicians to use the sennheiser vocoder vsm 201 in his live sets.

seattle rapper/producer grieves emerged in 2007 with his independently released album, irreversible. in the years that followed, he wholly devoted himself to touring, writing and recording, honing his craft and defining his sound. his 2011 rhymesayers debut, together/apart, was a career landmark and a testament to his growth in both, his writing and delivery, and this progression was re-affirmed by his follow-up, winter & the wolves, in 2014. now, after three years, grieves prepares to reveal further evolution with the release of his new full-length album, running wild.
on running wild, grieves teamed up with swedish producer chords. together, the two have produced a modernized sound that is lush and intoxicating, pairing punchy drums with thick layers of synths and warm bass lines, all accented by soulful keys, horns, or guitars. whether dark and moody, or upbeat and jazzy, grieves navigates and complements the soundscape, penning verses that range from vulnerable and confessional, to fun and carefree. grieves is most certainly breaking boundaries, truly running wild, all while remaining honest to himself.

mancini and the creepers is a much needed breath of fresh air that really turned my week around from being horrendous to unreal! with the ridiculous vocal stylings of mancini throwing down some truly unorthodox rhythm, along with the unreal british-accented lyrics, this crew is pure entertainment in my mind. the rapping is done over the production crew, consisting of tommy tempa and frank law’s, beats and is put together in a great package.

mysterious brooklyn label and production crew getting in the game with some techno and ebm bangers. all are re-workings of recognizable or obscure classics. “looping blood” the clubbiest of the ep builds around a controlled bleeding loop and blossoms into a spiraling unstoppable groove accented by crashing reverbs and jackin drums. “alaaarmed” is a pounding re-edit of tommi stumpff, early german minimal punk not unlike nitzer ebb. “take two” is a great remix of front 242’s epic industrial classic “take one” dubbing out the lyrics for an instrumental approach. “open bar” puts the scissors to skinny puppy’s early 80s classic “last call” looks like the aptly named effective weapns label certainly providing some hot jams for this fall. fans of dark entires, minimal wave take notice

with his third release of the bella avgvsta series, daniel bortz shows that augsburg offers more then its famous puppet theater. the opener don’t forget your sword provides crystal clear techno, discreetly interrupted by accented fades of an exotic theme. with rolling dub sequences, decent recurring swishes and a peacefull breaks jump in the water describes the impression to dive into the humid element. lonely soldier then provides more power again. the basic theme which is dominated by a minor tone displays an inner unrest created by the unknown that is daily lurking out there for us. the beautiful deep dub-track hide from the sun finally plays with the change of shimmering heat and chilly shadow. who does not know the feeling on a hot open-air-afternoon to take an occasional time-out from the merciless burning sun. overall this is the most personal and deeply emotional release and as we think a worthy highlight and conclusion for the bella avgvsta series.

gary martin releases his second sequential ep on motech records, the *this is it* ep. the ep features two more exclusive tracks, *this is it* a driving composition accented with piano and synth patterns and subtle funky movement, and *galaxy style* a percussive, building composition expertly laced with muted samples and synth progressions.
included on this ep are two remixes from techno veterans mark broom and rolando. broom takes on *this is it* chopping the original into a hyper dance floor drubbing burner. rolando re-treats *galaxy style* into a composition that unfolds as it progresses, bathed in signature rolando production elements.

vanguard sound follows up on guerilla soul’s self-titled ep with label co-head chris mitchell delivering feng shui flow. feng shui flow is an exploration into deep harmonic textures in the form of three distinct offerings. a1 primordial gravitational waves- as the name suggests, inspired by the possible discovery of gravitational waves believed to be reverberations of the big bang. staccato bass and drums provide the heavy background for a pulsing bass wave, accented by synths and chords conjuring up visions of interplanetary manifestation. b1 eurínome- melancholic and intensely emotive chords and bass layered with intricate drums to paint this impression of the mysterious water goddess. b2 4th density- a synth heavy offering with several layers of bass, string like patches, and a sprinkling of choral sounds driven by a pair of kick drums into a plane of telepathy, harmony and ascension.

blank code presents bcr002 - beta ep from the plant worker (also known as a. trebor), released on 12 inch vinyl with custom made silk screened jackets and available with an additional track found exclusively on the digital release. beta 01 represents merciless techno, with a pounding kick and unexpected drops that leave the listener gasping for breath. the luis flores remix introduces a subtle swing, making it more danceable than the original while still retaining the ominous tones imbued in the track by the plant worker. beta 02 stumbles in with anxious acid synths and urgent hi-hat patterns, slowly building to a massive climax. mysterious chimes wandering around the sonic space give a haunting feel to beta 03, the eery conclusion of the vinyl version of the release. the eps digital exclusive, beta 04, returns the listener to the original themes of beta 01 – open, reverberating bass accented by the sounds of echoing metallic decay.

in the 18 months since his brilliant debut release for we play house, luv jam has been steadily building his profile with a number of releases, and now he returns on vibrations with his first full ep of material since that auspicious first record. the eps a-side is a typically lush foray into stripped back, slo-mo house, with opener tough future utilizing little more than a 303 bassline and 909 kick to slowly build up to its raindrop crescendo, and >rubber band< employing a number a dreamy synths atop its tense, gurgling bass. the pace picks up on the b-side with >last floor hotel (mega mix)< upping the tempo and going into full on acid mode, with its furious pace accented with frenetic cowbell hits and industrial textures. the ep closes with >elastic band< a deeper excursion into jacking house, characterized by its flurry of handclaps, weighed up by its rubbery bassline.

diynamics new member duo hunter/game suprise with their first diynamic release. the two young boys from italy, emmanuele nicosia and martino bertola, bringing a really nice groove with them! its exactly the sound, diynamic stands for: deep basslines combined with groovy, harmonic vocals add up to the newest diynamic ep reckless lady. on their first visit to diynamics residency club, the ego in hamburg, hunter/game gave a first impression of the love and enthusiasm they have for their music. the first track >under< opens with a clear message: these boys really know what they are doing! driving hi-hats, a pumping, deep bassline and smooth vocals are giving this track a pretty nice groove. the second track on the ep boogie music sets apart from the other tracks. this cooperation with freakme is getting really funky! a beautiful vocal part, that is developing its full power in the first breake will make you move! with reckless lady, the third track on the ep, hunter/game made a perfect club tune. its again the nice combination of an accented, deep bassline, a repeating, catchy vocal and powering percussions that makes this track so nice. the ep ends with crazy enough, a melodic tune with epic vocals! all in all hunter/game proved their feeling for the special deep house sound, diynamic stands for and produced a great first ep.

all nite ep is the young mancunian waltons second set on hyperdub, after his very well received walton ep debut for the label in 2011. title cut >all nite< kicks it off with warm plucked strings, diva moans and lazer-like synths stretched to the point of anticipation over cracking grime handclaps and bass drums, until the track drops into a blocky bass line playing hide and seek with low arpeggios that spiral in and out of the mix, over a giant pounding metallic kick drum before layering on the warmth again. the whole track plays with a fine balance between warm, disco-like lushness and exuberant roughness. >mallet< is driving and darker, building detuned, bell-like tones over a 4/4 beat accented by breaks and fills and gaps, dropping into a big bass line and syncopations that disrupt the beat and bring the drama. >kush< is different again, taking the pace down with low end, synth hip hop with glassy chords, running over woozy pitch shifting rhodes chords fed through a layer of crackly gauze.

alland byallo gained global attention producing for definitive labels like poker flat and liebedetail, hosting san francisco s legendary kontrol party and performing at world-famous venues like berlin s panoramabar and watergate, and detroit s annual demf, byallo looks forward to showcasing his more private side through bad animal, expect more organic productions, vocals and raw emotion.

sex tags mania presents reson - a zealous session of accented tr-808 and live synth solos balancing between the emotive and ecstatic, but not irrational. this live electro jam, recorded in pyramide studios frankfurt, grasps the sentience of techno music - a rare occation in our decade. the countering side appends two parts - first purely consisting of beats and reverb - latter a deep stripped exothermic continuation of the main theme.

san francisco, cas surefire sound starts off the new decade with a bang and launches their brand new label with an energetic single by eprom. a fast rising west coast bass technician, dj and producer sander dennis a.k.a. eprom delivers funky, techy fourfour beats on “never.” eprom’s original mix opens with rattling hi-hats and a hushed female vocal accented by eproms patented twitchy synths. a hefty kick drops, braced by a thick, bouncy mid-range bass pattern. like recent tracks by untold or ramadanman, “never” blurs the divisions between dubstep, funky, techno and garage to form an irresistible new creation. hyped newcomer faltydl had a breakthrough year in 2009.

there is a new name on cargo edition, but by no means an unknown one. as a dj markus schatz has been on the move for years now, all the while maintaining his roots in the berlin club scene. markus started producing in 2004 and both his solo eps and collaborations with tom clark on highgrade records and opossum recordings last year clearly demonstrate that his talents go far beyond the turntables. and now for his first ep on cargo edition, markus takes a step further into the musical spectrum. drippin is a nimble house track accented with a note of funk and the smooth vocals of sean andino, giving the track a slight pop-appeal. in contrast flippin gives us a beautifully reduced form of house all driven by a powerful rolling bass line, a textbook example of less is more. as a perfect ending restart surprises with its smooth house arrangements and sophisticated deepness. a truly versatile ep from a truly versatile producer.

adult only is back for a deep house release with lots of chicago house inflections and three unique cuts, all shaped differently for the players choice. blue brunch by catwash is a floor knocking club jam, powerful and atmospheric, the elements arestrategically placed and prepped for the full vocal hook thats followed by a really cool airy drop out, leaving the dancer ready for more. excellent concept, delivered with brilliance. seth troxler remix has a classic fliter disco inflection loved from globals players straight out of chicagos most renowed sound. broken down with a guitar bass wind down in the middle, he dubs the vox for more classic arrnagements inside the already wound up groove. fabio giannelli & mirco violi - blues brunch remix is accented on the vocal hook, used as a nagging hook set along a solid tribal rhythm that really gives the jazzy vocal style a fresh step for originality.
