2016 repress! the fourth installment of tiefenrausch comes by italian lad hydergine. with his playful dubtechno tracks he presents a strongly convincing ep on the label. winter solstice, warped chords, epic dubbyness and a hint of strings makes this piece a true journey through winter landscapes. space scan, pumping beats, rich chords and a fluffy groove makes you experience the depth of this ep. and last but not least reminiscient: calm, decelerated, relxaxed dub that one bitterly makes aware that this journey might end at some point.

for the 4th emission in the sonar base transmissions series, deeptrax records turns back to the 2005 release on the now defunct uk label scsi av. like all older sonar base releases, the original vinyl issue of transmissions from beyond hoag s object is highly sought after, with matching high prices for a decent copy. next to that, the original version had a few flaws: the labels had been flipped, and the mastering wasn t up to the current standards. the tracklisting remained the same, only the sequence of the 6 tracks has slightly changed. those familair with the other sonar base releases know what to expect: pitch-dark, well crafted electro from outer space, some with a hint of melancholy. pressed at their own pressing plant deepgrooves on an 180gr heavy weight pressing.

re-release: released in 199, the sound of electro / techno came to a point where it had to evolve into a new and more grounded entity, keyed into funk / space & rooted origins that reflected an ever-changing landscape throughout detroit and the aux-quadrant. the bouncy bass line soul of posatronix project emerges in silence among several platforms without hint of a proper biography or introduction. later on the guard would be let down that an original lineup member from aux88 (william bj smith) either produced or inducted a spin-off group over seen by aux. no video, photos, or interviews accompanied the music. now in 2018, we re-introduce these dance floor/ dj crate mainstays that have continued to be cherished classics from the very men that not only too rhythmically-funky electro by storm, but raised the bar and took matters into their own hands. 100% mechanical electronic funk.

sacred summits returns after a two-year hiatus with an album of interpretations of the music of eric satie by acclaimed composer morgan fisher. active for over 50 years morgans career has moved from 60s number one hit wonders love affair, to 70s rocknroll keyboardist in mott the hoople, before finally on to 80s ambient, improvisation and soundtracks, working with the likes of yoko ono, haroumi hosono and dip in the pool. based in japan since the mid-80s, fishers long-standing admiration for erik satie (1866- 1925) led to these inside satie recordings. satie’s unique work as a precursor to artistic movements such as minimalism, surrealism and repetitive music are acknowledged but for long periods he was not given the accolades his music warranted. a strange, eccentric, surreal man, he was never as acclaimed as the established masters, but influenced not only the likes of debussy but also many of the dada artists. on this album morgan played his music freely after just a brief look at the scores. recorded in just three days, it features piano, melodica, synthesisers, and morgans favoured tape delay system. inside satie is one of the first albums i recorded in japan shortly after moving here in 1985. in three days i improvised on several of my favourite satie themes. mostly i played piano as well as the rich, analog-sounding yamaha gs-1 (precursor of the dx-7), and sometimes used long tape delays to build layers of sound. all the pieces were recorded in single takes no overdubs (no time!).

rudy returns to faze action records with an all-new collection of atmospheric and evocative tropical sounds. last august saw the release of the by nature ep that encapsulated the steamy and exotic textures of the balearic sound. this time, midnight safari takes up where on the beaches of formentera, where the last ep left us. this time setting sail on a midnight safari with marimba s and chugging rhythms underpinning sophisticated piano melodies. following this we drop anchor and appreciate the evening breeze of in the air with its haunting cello, endless drifting arpeggio s and tropical percussion with a hint of north africa. reach backless points the way squarely to the dance floor with chunky drums and synth bass, synth hooks galore and that piano solo that launches into starry evening skies. it s back down to earth with the settled quiet bass guitar harmonics of windchimes before heading into the more soulful and synth melodic territory of solar plex.

next up in the apparel music limited series is loure with a 4 track ep which also includes a remix by saine. the name of this work by the aussie is smooth talk and it contains all the stylistic elements that make the melbournian one of the most talented in the scene at the moment. the ep kicks off with the title track which can be certified as a dancefloor banger with its solid rhythmics and the smooth synths playing along with a hint of acid keeps going with mutual motion which gives a display of what this guy can do in terms of creating spacey deep harmonies, such a groovy way to lower the tones before the remix of the 1st track smooth talk. saine here puts his signature once again with another banging tune crafted on loure sounds, adding his touch with deep percussions, a substantial compact beat with a bass-line that will get you carried away. the closing track is the right decompression after a journey through sounds: rolling snares, vocal samples chasing each other and a happy touch to finish in style.

gulf points expanding roster delivers a twist with the introduction of vienna-based alexey lanvin. men s fashion connoisseur by day, one look diarises alexey s private persona as he broods over the octaves with acutely romantic flair. his series of short online videos hint at a realm where long stares, midnight moods and south beach style are everyday fare a vision fellow pastel chief and label boss benny badge simply couldn t ignore. one look- opens this window to lanvin s electrifying world even further, his talking keyboards ready as ever to converse. alexey gets straight to the point, launching into two searing ballads full of silky rhodes and evocative textures. while an ominous inner-city funk adorns all songs, its definitely miami when the upbeat items arrive (both good love and lips could score one of crockett s fleeting love scenes in easy fashion) - suggesting his high street antics are merely a front for his downtown demeanour. ep includes: standing out, in and out of love, your eyes, good love, lips, cassette only bonus track. arranged and recorded entirely at alexey s home studio with minor alterations by benny badge at secret heat music.

frame of mind is back with a re-issue of another unknown gem from the early 90 s. uk production team dave campbell and viv beeton are most known for their uk techno, rave and bleep classics as ubik. it is under the alias of timenet they released an obscure white label in limited quantities in 1992. this untitled and one-off 3-tracker remained fairly unknown up until today. it shows quite a different side of their stunning production talents. dishwasher is a rough drum machine work out topped with a wild bleepy sh101 synthline a la mr fingers. dx moods is a spaced out techno tune combining mysterious pads and crazy dx-100 programming. with on the move the uk pioneers come closest to their ubik sound: mad uk techno with a hint of rave. a previously unreleased and stripped down version of this track is included as well.

mirror trax proudly presents its first release: the esox lucius ep by esox lucius! born in the late 90’s, esox lucius seems to have soaked up his environment quickly. old school flavour transmitted to the depths where esox lucius roams seems to be the recipe for elementary and spaced-out techno. nimbus on the a side is a classic techno track reminiscent of the x-mix days! its soothing melody and driving bass will propel you towards the clouds, cruise-missile style. on the b side, the first track indica is a high-speed techno train. driven by its resonant lead and shifting snares, b1 will definitely leave you as high and disoriented as the name implies. common thread on the b side seems to be a hague-ish influence, as the closing track is a heavy grinding techno track with a hint of electro. b2 will definitely sink your ship so make sure the hoff is around! 300 copies available.

if you are wondering what the artist wanted to tell you by choosing this title, we will give you a small hint: it’s a cynical statement on something that for sure every party promoter has experienced at some point. the rest, we will leave up to your imagination… in real life, there’s no mercy – neither is when it comes to the sound of this new snork release by syntax error. the four new tracks with meaningful names are not only a social criticism and another artistic processing of the current development of the techno scene, but also a classic syntax error: rough, tricky and good to groove. each track stands on its own, telling another story. “collateral cosmopolitan” is a straight forward piece with a highly memorable beat talking about the uniformity that is creeping in the waiting lines of more and more techno clubs. “i wear my grandpa’s glasses” presents a totally dodgy sound, which might be a little oldschool and even a little irritating – just like some fashion items you encounter on today’s big city streets. “no fog is no solution” is a tight song that definitely needs some good fog and a harsh strobe. and finally, the last track sounds like a futuristic fairy tale from outer space looking on the world as if it is a “society bathysphere”.

nice price deal !!! born near the french border and growing up in the 90’s, dirk lamprecht aka dml developed a strange but even more so strong interest in hardcore-techno. but this style quickly became too limited for him and he adopted the sound of detroit, carl craig, kenny larkin and robert hood became the most influencial artists for him. over the years he became affiliated with an even greater spectrum of musical influences, ranging from all sorts of electronic music to jazz and even world music. in addition he graduated as an audio engineer and started to perform as a live act in 2002. more knowledge consequently leads to a much more diverse way of producing own tracks. in 2007 dirk lamprecht made his debut under his alias >dml< on the legendary label harthouse. his productions range from tribalistic via hypnotic, with a hint of detroit under his real name and from a touch of minimal, through melodramatic to straight techno under his alias dml

inner8 is daniele antezza, a multi-faceted thinker and electronic music producer, member of dadub duo, co-founder of artefacts mastering studio, dadub studio owner and holotone label manager, whose regular invocation of the term praxis begins to hint at his creative aims: a primary synthesis of contemplation and action that, in turn, encourages a secondary and entirely unpredictable set of syntheses dependent upon the listener s unique interpretation. though the inner8 moniker has been in existence for several years as a private nickname for, as antezza puts it, his -experimental anarchist sounds,- his recent releases are just now surfacing which will reveal just how much this project has to communicate.

across the street from where trouw used to be, lies a nice little hotel. it was in the basement of this hotel, where a curious meeting happened. something so coincidental and so unassumingly trivial, that even the slightest event of randomness could have prevented this from ever happening, yet it did happen and here we are. this curious meeting was the result of an open studio door of nachtbraker, and the hint of disco coming out the door, where dr. san proper just happened to pass by in search of whatever it is he searches for at 10 am on a tuesday.

stefan schwander aka harmonious thelonious is definitely not a newcomer. he has been around for a long time and has already released lots of amazingly varied music on labels such as emotional response, italic, meakusma and diskant. he’s also an integral part of the infamous duesseldorf / salon des amateurs axis that is an obvious hotbed of talent. he describes his style as -american minimalism vs. african drumming vs. european sequencing-, a heady mixture which is clearly evident on this ep though with a definite middle eastern twist. here at versatile hq we were introduced to this clutch of tracks by one of the members of acid arab and we were totally blown away. stefan has a very unique production style, fusing all of the above elements with a hint of gamelan, a dash of tweaked fm synthesis type sounds with a dose of warm ambience and finally his own singular touch on the mix. we are very happy to present you these 4 tracks to you, an essential ep from one of european music s true originals.

keope is the musical brainchild of toni bruna and marcus rossknecht. with the aim to record an album they ve met in an abandoned quarry on the slovenian border. the outcome tropicalni seems to exist in a vacuum. stylistically, all tracks here owe something to multiple genres and reference points - from folk, balearic, psychedelic and electronica, but none really fit well. synths drift in breezily, floating around the wistful melodies, acoustic guitars sparkle, while flutes & the beats hint at a deeper connection to dance rituals.

legendary nitsa club from barcelona comes back releasing new music fifteen years after their first venture with nitsa recordings. the new label is called nitsa traxx. the essence is not to focus in a particular sound, but try to cover all the range of styles you can usually listen to in this acclaimed club. besides that, the main idea is pretty simple: the a side includes the original track and the b side comes with a remix. first release comes from valencian producer daniel kyo. after releases in drumpoet and bordello a parigi, on this occasion kyo dives into deep techno with a nostalgic hint to ebm. “nacht drei” sounds like one of those tracks from the infamous ruta del bacalao, but with a very nowadays production. sharp and hypnotic, but with a certain sense of epic humor. valencia style. on the flip, marc piñol remixes the original track and makes it sound blurry, obsessive, fast and mental. inspired by his legendary warmups in nitsa club, expect nothing more and nothing less that a simple but not-so-simple mixing tool with a personal touch. one of those long tracks for djs who just love to make lingering transitions to flip out the crowd. nitsa traxx will come back very soon with new music from people related to the club. family and friends. look forward to some surprises for the upcoming releases!

coast to coast vividly presents the many faces of belgian producer and dj peter van hoesen. example in case: the title track is a no-holds-barred epic synthesizer composition, recorded at the producer s handwerk audio synthesizer studios. van hoesen s love for widescreen synthesis comes clearly to the fore on this track. it is a beautiful showcase of how techno can be emotive, driving and muscular, all at the same time. entrance to entropic city takes a different path, opting for a much more abstract narrative. shunning away from the dancefloor, it chooses to hint at concepts hidden below its sonic surface. voodoo benny s wishbone takes the listener deep into hypnotic and percussive breakbeat territory. menacing synth sweeps coil around the drums while a polyrhythmic groove shows off its tension, six minutes long. finally, in empire in decline - 2017 dub van hoesen reworks his 2008 classic. shuffling breakbeats form a new base for empire s bouncing synth lead.
