the collaboration between the italian label and the two techno producers, follows a meeting in nyc between out-er co-founder simone gatto at the producers headquarter gatto always appreciated the artists musical peculiarity and, generally, supports distorted electronic sounds, which anyway already found space on the label’s previous releases thanks to the efforts of the analogue cops, christopher rau and marieu.

finnish techno icon mono junk aka kim rapatti joins forces with berlin based freestyle man aka klas sasse lindblad, known for his productions on classic labels like sähkö and moodmusic. pata ep starts with the hard hitting techno title ‘not a love story’, haunting vocals, simple synthline, slicing percussion and deep bassdrum, all u need to make an effect, this must be heard in a big sound system. following with ‘need your lovin’ the ep takes a more electro approach, mesmerising love story with jupiter-8 bassline and 808 beats accompanied with vocals on this track too by mr rapatti. the ep ends with ‘stella polaris’, a production which started as a jam in 2007 in berlin at sasse’s blackhead studios and was finished 10 years later in 2017 in the same location. reminiscing of early 90s electronica time when everything was pure and gold and when these fellows also were starting their careers. ‘stella polaris’ leaves no one cold with emotional themes of analog synthesis and depth of the bass.

he 3rd and final part includes the more rougher edition of the remixes with great fellows and friends like al ferox, raphael dincsoy, the horrorist, paul birken and saimon.

for its second release, the barcelona-based independent label venom recordings follows its pioneering path into new and forward-thinking techno soundwaves. the ep features two original tracks signed by dasein, as well as two remixes from vii circle and memorial home. in their original versions, “prometheus” and “zodiac” reflect the polish duo’s distinctive signature: a blend of obscure-minded groove with cinematic melodies. both tracks are defined by the layering of deep and immersive sounds, where the combination of restless, punctilious basslines and beats with pulsating synths reverb drops climax into a pure hypnotic and spacey atmosphere. for their interpretation, vii circle and memorial home magnify the minimal and cosmic nature of the originals, crafting an ambient-like wavy tempo that traverse a dark flavoured sonic landscape with a strong emotional aura. four pieces of electronic mastery which offer a captivating journey, to be savoured in the intimacy of its own soul or to be shared with nightclubbing fellows.

the album a little comedy, a little drama by dusty baron is the result of collaboration of moldavian fellows eugen kara, ivan slivka and dima scripnic. this collaboration has been lasting in the course of 2016, with miscellaneous recordings at home studios, including moldavian radio and television studio. inspired by french and italian psychedelic electronic music of 60s and 70s, cartoons and the comedian genre of absurd, the trio tried to incarnate their vision of the space into a lp comprising 13 tracks. vintage synthesiser lines and classic drum machines create a hugely entertaining blend intoxicated with universal love. now and then you trace the combinations of techno rhythms rushing into the futuristic vertical, and sometimes the sound transforms into a blend of absolute and exotically influenced reverie.

girl is the first release from danish electronic duo cirkular. the group consists of brothers jacob and morten bogh, both veterans of the danish electronic music scene. -girl- is an eclectic release, spanning the melancholic dubsteppy electronica of the title track, house music, electro, uk garage and tech house with remixes from electronic legend rumpistol as well as strung fellows and discoshaman, both known to fill dancefloors across europe.

with the two fellows enrico sangiuliano & frankyeffe from italy gregor tresher again proves his talent to discover great new artists for his label break new soil. enrico s releases on drumcode and secret cinema s gem records and franky s tracks for flash and trapez were already high quality documentations of their exceptional studio skills but combining forces pushed their output to another level. peaktime techno at its best.

the next coup by sirion records is from none other than one of the founding fathers, fedja haueter aka feodor and his fellows alex torriglia aka mo-tek and beni dossenbach aka balance. the trio, better known as vol-tek, has played a key role since the very beginnings of sirion s musical outpours and was represented in sr001 with a remix. numerous remixes and their own release sr005 - vol-tek - male & female are further to be mentioned. a part from sirion records the trio was represented at friends labels such as cristian paduraru or samy freshs augenringe records. but their next big thing is yet to come, as the threesome has been finishing tracks throughout the past year and surely need to be reckoned with in the future. the tracks after dark and conciliator are both rather deep, playful tech-house gimmicks, enriched with a bit of progressive.

in keb darges own words: i ve done many a compilation in my day, mostly based around the tunes i played at my long running deep funk nights in madame jo jos. that night is no longer on the go, possibly due to a growing lack of interest on my part, (sorry). in the last few years the lost & found: nights at the club have been my real passion, and indeed little ediths and andy smiths passion too. what a marvelous era this is for good music. we may still have pure stuff like dub step: pulling in large numbers of sheep, but an equal number of youngsters are being attracted to retro, or at least retro sounding music. people tell me it is because the youth are fed up with computerized music, or men with drug problems angrily shouting at them over a dull repetitive beat, but i know lots of teenagers who have bypassed this muck all together. must be the internet that is helping kill off the demand for empty music. you no longer need to go to a retro club night, or indeed search out rare records to be exposed to good music, the internet is full of the stuff. my fifteen year old daughter is a marc bolan fan who while researching the poor fellows influences discovered chuck berry, sun records, etc, etc. i dont really know or understand why so many are at last getting into the good stuff, but they are, and it is wonderful for the likes of me.
