altogether lost is a collaboration between the bristol based experimental techno duo emptyset and the detroit vocalist cornelius harris aka atlantis from underground resistance. inspired by an early 20th century poem of mystical heritage, the project marks the first ever joint production by these three major capitals of electronic music and is backed up by a very friendly and creative label partnership between emptysets label multiverse and clr from berlin/germany where both labels are going to release different versions of remixes of the original in a mutual promotion and release approach. clr started this series with the release of the stunning original and a slamming remix by chris liebing and now follows up with a ben klock remix and a very deep and atmospheric interpretation by ripperton.

housemeister joins herbert’s ever burgeoning accidental jnr roster with an ep of definitive leftfield techno clout. lead track late at night pulsates with a piercing vocal hook whilst a remix of the track from matthew herbert offers a funkier and altogether darker edge. other offerings on the release are the acid inflected der kleine könig dezember and closing the show is the simple but affecting funk that which really speaks for itself. housemeister has never looked to conform to the genre rule book and this latest release is no different with serious execution and cheeky playfulness in equal measure.

sugardaddy are a uk electronic music duo formed in 2006 and is the musical brainchild of tom findlay (one half of groove armada) and singer song writer tim hutton (hybrid, groove armada, way out west) “hypnotise- has an altogether late 80 s heavy, low slung, boogie vibe, caressed with beautifully haunting yet soulful vocals. greg wilson remixes an extended rework, holding the vibe of the original and effortlessly extending certain aspects of the groove, creating a 9 minute dancefloor monster! situation are next up with a late night, deep house dub interpretation which builds to a discoesque guitar licked, infectious, yet hypnotic bombshell bittersuite finish the release with a chunky funk fuelled version, full of slap bass and a bucketful of soaring, atmospheric synths, cleverly weaving those wonderful vocals and building to an electro jazz funk masterpiece.

next up on duskys renowned 17 steps label is the return of long term pal kiwi. having supported the lads on 9 of the 17 steps tour dates and having also provided the 15th release in the label catalogue - the fellow londoner now readies his oooh ep which comes backed up with a remix from feel my bicep affiliate hammer. kiwis sound is one defined by positive, kinetic feeling joining the dots between detroit techno, soul and balearic. with previous releases on futureboogie, life and death and moscomans lauded disco halal imprint, hes garnered several accolades including reaching number #85 in mixmag s top 100 tunes of 2017 and sitting at #1 in the genre chart for a total of 9 weeks with his orca ep back in 2016. now continuing on his ascent, kiwi lays out a pair of rapturous, gooey house jams that lands right on time for the festival season. on oooh vocal lines swirl over a largely beatless backing track. a rich, balmy feeling unfolds behind synth chimes and layered delays which work together to form an irresistible summer dj tool. andromeda then follows up and blends 80’s soundtrack-tinged stabs with crispy drums and thick sub bass before being accompanied by a pulsating synth line that carries the track to a delectable crescendo. hammer then closes things up with a somewhat hallucinogenic take on oooh with lfos, analogue sweeps and blobs of acid bleeding together to cap off an altogether warm and woozy trip.

as the title suggests, rejuvenate marks a rebirth for south london musician paul white. abandoning sampling altogether, white wrote, played and produced all of rejuvenate s music himself, and the result is an album of playful, psychedelic pop.

british dj/producer bearface has been on a bit of a roll of later. aside from releases on his own beartone label, the london-based label owner has also found time to deliver outstanding cuts to the likes of exploited ghetto, which housed his last release, the wonderful moon . this time around, he comes correct on his own beartone label with a record that s notable for its quirky demeanour and undoubted eclecticism. opening up the release is the sounds of mumbai nights . although it gets us underway in fairly innocuous fashion, it quickly finds its feet thanks to a brilliant, whaling indian-inspired vocal that weaves in and out throughout. a whimsical track of that sort that s sure to be a hit with more daring djs, it s an auspicious start to a release that s never lacking in personality. as is his forte, bearface then goes much deeper in search of kicks on data storm , taking us taking us down the rabbit hole to a place that s full of enticing oddities throughout. after this, the frankly bonkers sound of the electro-leaning title track sista take centre stage. a thoroughly intense peak-time workout, it s full of attitude and an indication of the producer s more gnarly and abrasive approach. all things considered, it s sure to get the night moving in an altogether different direction wherever it s unleashed. closing out the ep is the drum heavy sounds of march . a broody track that s tailor made for the night s more relentless moments, it s a a fitting way with which to sign off an eclectic and dizzying release. the latest chapter in the beartone story is a captivating listen throughout.

seb zito has been one of the main movers for fuse london since the labels inception and his good to me ep continues the producer/djs accent. take no one kicks things off, its 90s tech-house influence being worn on it s sleeve with it s no nonsense b-line driven groove. so good to me delves somewhat deeper, pads and synth work offering up warmth for a blissful 4am ride. hit ends things with an altogether quirkier affair.

backed with strong remixes from dustin zahn, cosmin trg, & doubt, one step ahead is the massive vinyl debut from gabriella vergilov. her refreshing take on techno is a perfect match for enemy. gabriella is an upcoming bulgarian artist based in belgium who rides the fine line between house and techno. her music was recently included on dvs1s fabric 96 mix along with the soundtrack for a film entitled >le fidele.< reach out to me and one step ahead break away from the dark techno norm in favor of a more delicate and emotive approach. emerald drops the percussion altogether, but locks the listener in even deeper with its highly hypnotic groove. on big room duty for this release, dustin zahn delivers an acid-drenched rendition featuring his trademark groove while maintaining the originals feminine undertones. meanwhile, cosmin trg turns in a unique remix that can only be described as heavy and arcane. mistress records and dont be afraids doubt finishes off the package with a very deep and dubby remix which stays true to the originals vibe.

following the hypnotic ‘what’s in your head’ ep in 2016, archie hamilton returns to moscow records with his first solo ep on the imprint since the release last year. since finishing 2016 with a place in ra s top 100 djs poll, he’s been touring the world, had a summer residency at amnesia and released another massive ep on fuse. an integral part of the stellar ascent of the brand, and founder at tastemaker label initiatives moscow records, moss co. and arkityp, he is an artist very much in control of his rise. the record opens with confusion, an out and out anthem which has been tearing up dance floors across the globe all summer. a trademark bassline drives the track forward as stabs build, tight percussion cuts through and a repeating vocal enters. then when the track drops it shifts the mood completely, causing any dance floor to bump uncontrollably. dos equis is something different altogether. minimalistic percussion and a tight sub lay the foundations for a funky bass guitar line. warming pads meet rhodes keys and out of nowhere a beautifully subtle vocal line appears. as the track breaks down, a mind bending synth line takes the listener out of their state of reflection. the title track on the flip is a classic piece of groovy hamilton weaponry. a positive mood that bounces along to a whispering voice in the background. the track develops as lush chords permeate the groove, soaking the dance floor in the last of the summer sun to create a euphoric crescendo.

geodetic is the joint venture of well-known italian experimentalist claudio rocchetti, a close collaborator of valerio tricoli, and jukka reverberi, founder of post-rock band giardini di mirò and half of cosmic electro-disco duo crimea x.instruments of discipline is proud to release cold lights , geodetic s second ep, the follow up to broken consonance , released on maple death records earlier this year. cold lights is an avant-garde undertaking that artfully weaves soundscapes that swing between murky industrial atmospheres to moments of uplifting levity, all held together by strong rhythmic grooves, a collage of at times familiar sounds juxtaposed into an altogether unfamiliar whole.

if psychic health s self-titled debut album took the lessons the la duo learned in the teeming clubs of berlin and melbourne, their latest lp, exclusion, look inward, a document of the duo tunneling down the studio wormhole. as such, exclusion is a remarkably dynamic effort, adeptly jumping between evocative ambience (-jamaica 88,- -ryso-) and equally expansive dance floor fair. examples of the latter, such as the album s obvious centerpiece and titular track, exclusion, document gabriel mounsey and devon steffens’s harnessing modular beast technology for peak techno utility, finding a clear thoroughfare between the soaring strings of derrick may s classic transmat releases and ostgut ton s current ebm-inflected precision. as you d expect from mounsey s background in film composition, exclusion whirls with imagery. it s a los angeles album, but focuses on raw beauty of the city at night—the lights in the distance, and the desolate downtown streets where kickdrums often waft from disused warehouses. while their debut album opened notable doors for the group, landing distribution from hard wax and featuring in the netflix series sense8, exclusion is an altogether masterful turn for psychic health, their complete studio immersion easing the listener into deeply hypnotic states.

having helped launch the sugarhouse label with his paradise forum brethren, jamie paul gets a chance to show off his talents on his debut 12inch, adding to the labels already impressive catalogue with another swathe of classy house jams with a modern twist. double g definitely sports the chops for the peak of the night, but it s also shot through with a welcome weirdness and a fuzzy warmth that should find favour with a wide range of djs. even so is a more laid back, bumping affair that matches the smooth finish of the a-side, but says something different altogether. label mate maurice jnr meanwhile serves up a remix of even so that nudges the delicate tones in a techier direction

london s weekend circuit imprint returns with a 5 track ep from label owner michael wells entitled three marks of existence. the ep marks michael s debut on the label and is a signifier of his future direction as a producer - meditative, tense, unfolding electronics and monochrome ambient environments inform this release. the deepest of deep space is contained within ep opener antecedent , an almost menacing, enveloping track that engulfs us during it s 5 minutes or so of existence. verge follows and is driven by speaker puncturing taut, tribal drum programming and swirling satellite sounds, creeping further into the nexus. subtly heavy indeed. ‘three marks of existence mines an altogether different vein, an epic, widescreen vision of downtempo electro that is damaged, on the fritz, but containing enough melodic beauty to retain hope. souls in the machines. weekend circuit acolytes yyyy return to the scene of the crime with a monolithic remix of verge that opens the second side of this ep, showcasing their unique style and interpretation of the original mix, and following on from their previous split ep with stanislav tolkachev and their own ep ‘intention of mortal’. ‘ilmatar leaves us out and leads you into the cold night, the final transmission from the ‘three marks of existence signal. fierce drums punctuate the night sky and barren landscapes while somewhere deep inside, memories are remembered. equal parts thought provoking and anxious, the perfect end point for what will undoubtedly be a formative benchmark in the weekend circuit canon.

running a label with the ambition to push new and unique voices isn t always an easy task. while finding new artists is about as hard as finding a black t-shirt in berlin, most budding artists seem pressured to conform or mimic the already established, only to be heard. performing under the artist name bleie, oakland resident sarah bly is not one of them. originally hailing from seattle, she indeed works with the mortar of techno form, but uses different bricks altogether. it s a hard sound to articulate, at first, it s almost alienating to ears worn by years in dark clubs. its mercurial, yet still surprisingly club compatible nature makes it an aural tiger balm – it burns and soothes at once. this compositional depth is perhaps a result of bleie s background as a trained pianist and violinist, by which she transmutes the commonly associated tropes of the genre. bleie lets the elements rule over the form, giving the tracks a morphing and unpredictable feel. obviously we were instantly intrigued when stumbling across her music, and now extremely proud to present her vinyl debut certainty is only a feeling . four tracks of unique techno so brimfully suggestive that it s nearly peerless. we can t imagine this leaving anyone unaffected.

a new my rules release from the always on-point justin van der volgen featuring two previously unreleased remixes that showcase his varied and unique style. the a-side sees him take both the original and spencer parker remixes found on the the 2016 shit robot single lose control and through editing, blending and layering of fx concocts one serious bomb of a mega mix. think classic dj bootleg remixes on legendary labels like razormaid, disconet and hot tracks. the b-side is an altogether different affair where justin dispenses with all of the original music and only keeps the vocal from felix dickinson s 2014 acid jam burning flame. what comes out the other end sounds like lee perry and murk made a tune once they got back from a sleazy ny after hours. early plays and support from gerd janson, john talabot, tim sweeney. vinyl only.

since 2015, james welshs contribution to phantasy as kamera has delivered a series of releases shrouded in mystery, injected with the personal energy of both a hardcore and club heritage. two eps, arc and ventoux, set a distinct tone, with the latter complimented by head-turning remixes from artists such as george fitzgerald, throwing snow, truncate and yaleesa hall. now, the key phantasy artist emerges from the shadows under his own name, in order to continue his uncompromising musical journey. returning with a new, two-track ep, standing/slip captures the finely tuned tension and euphoric release of welshs sound in arguably its strongest form to date, showcasing not only the dancefloor mettle firmly established under his prior alias, but a new sense of wistfulness that coaxes his typically outstanding machine work into altogether more reflective territory. standing throws listeners headlong into welshs formerly anonymous industrial complex, generating a churning, relentless rhythm offset with a dry female vocal that recalls the sardonic stance of vintage electroclash. following this, slip is an initially unexpectedly spectral diversion, transmitting a curious synth line into space, and receiving a choral, sombre frequency in return. without losing its emotive qualities, the track succumbs to a hailstorm of welsh’s sharp, potent drums, before collapsing in understated catharsis.

the untold stories label continues in cosmic vibe with their pro series single entitled spok, by franco cinelli. the bside features a remix by fellow argentine and emerging talent nektar agu. the two artists first collaborated earlier in the year with franco cinelli doing a remix of nektar agu s track rainy days, which received support from ricardo villalobos. now continuing in fine form nektar agu returns the favour with a superb remix of franco s 14 minute atmospheric dance floor filler, developing it joyously, with intricate percussion and an altogether enlivening mood filled with maasai voices which gives the remix a very different and earthly tribal spin in comparison to the more cosmic aura of the original spok. live long and prosper!

it’s hard to get a handle on nigerian musicians nash dodoo, charlie cuul and jonas caulley. in 1980 they released an album of face-melting gospel boogie as the bml chapels. and in the same year, calling themselves the beta yama group, they put out free love, a belated love letter to san francisco’s summer of love and an album altogether focused on more worldly concerns. free love is a small slice of haight-ashbury transported to the polygram studios in lagos. ‘te revoir’ is mamas and papas jamming with sergeant pepper’s beatles. ‘free love’ offers a respectful nod towards je t’aime-era serge gainsbourg. sure, ‘revolution’ gets hard and funky and ‘rain’ flirts briefly with a calypso reggae sound, but the majority of the album is cheesecloth and flowers in your hair. insanely rare – and worth buying for the freaky cover art alone – free love is a funky, reverb heavy call for love, peace and sweet, sweet loving. what more could you want from an album?

argentinean duo yyyy. returns to planet rhythm for their sophomore effort called relic ep. relic ep is a 4 track containing slab of mechanic techno with psychotic taints of fx and outrageous synth works. the release revolves around sturdy drum rhythms, euphoric lead screams and dramatic pad sounds. altogether planet rhythm is very pleased to once again put out a full ep by the talented duo.

nerram launches the galactic shelf with a debut 3-track ep including a remix by voigtmann. combining driving, futuristic sounds with deep grooves and breaks - this trio of cosmic cuts come dancefloor-ready and represent the artist’s diverse sound encapsulated. enigmatic and micron on the a side are an odyssey through big basslines and twisting synths, followed up by the experimental, spacey round and round on b1. completing the release is an altogether different interpretation of the first b side track by voigtmann - a grooving, stripped-back outro by this excellent producer.

private eyes, a duo made up of interstellar funk and jeroen, two storied members of amsterdams underground electronic music community. 500, vinyl only. tip! their safe trip debut consists of two analogue-heavy electronic workouts that tend towards the atmospheric. a-side -mirror image- is spacey and melodious, with an italo-disco inspired arpeggio bassline underpinning galactic chords and memorable piano lines. it s a collection of complimentary analogue elements tweaked for maximum late night enjoyment. on the flip you’ll find -anasazi-, an altogether deeper, more hypnotic affair. its distinctive rhythm comes not from bold drum machine beats, but rather the rising and falling of intricate, micro-house style melodies and looped electronics. it feels like it was influenced by the aural textures of dub techno, the phase-based minimalism of steve reich, and the deep space ethos of early 90s european ambient music.

adam port and jimpster have had a special kind of ‘virtual’ relationship the last few years with a mutual respect for each others productions and output of their respective labels. keinemusik, which adam runs alongside rampa, &me and reznik, has grown into one of the most consistent and hottest out there right now with every release creating a big splash and bringing magic to so many dancefloors around the world. adam recently remixed jimpster’s eel pie island to devastating effect bringing his own deep, late night atmospherics to the original and creating one of 2016’s underground hits in the process. so now we’re very pleased to welcome adam port (alongside legendary uk artists stereo mc’s) for a full release on freerange in the form of changes. opening the release we have adam’s own remix which sets the tone with a subtle and gently building groove providing the perfect backdrop for the stereo mc’s esoteric vocal. this lesson in restraint shows why adam’s productions work so well on big systems, letting all the focus shine firmly on the vocal creating an intense atmosphere with not a single huge breakdown in sight! next up we have the original of changes which takes a more electro approach with a simple bassline and crisp hats and once again allowing the vocal space to take centre stage for a deep and memorable track with a message. finally we have a remix from our own jimpster opts to push in a completely different direction. shuffling up the groove and laying down a repeating rhodes riff we’re treated to an altogether more soulful and less stark version making the perfect compliment to the the package. this one makes us think of his remix of osunlade’s momma’s groove which is no bad thing we feel! enjoy!
