its tempting to think that the opening of schloss02, which features the sound of track racing behind a cavernous broken kick, has some connection with the fact that dj/producer karima f runs schloss out of a disused porsche repair shop with contemporary artist ida ekblad. but then you might start to wonder about other details, like whether her production is influenced by a teenage effort to fit in with the cool kids by playing the violin (it isnt). the three songs on the debut 12- of oslo mainstay karima f take off in their own direction, tripping through bleeps and metallic riffs on the way to something more ethereal.

the second part of the seltron 400 trilogy on most, trans i bas, sees the group re-embark on their singular journey in search of the essence of the rave. since the first ep in the series – zabawa trwa – came out last year, they have augmented their back-to-back dj sets with a full-on live show, which again fed back into their recording process. the record’s title cut, trans i bas (also available in an earth-shaking drum version) is as uplifting as it is spontaneous, complete with trance-infused pads and heavy, tripping bass. jest nadzieja brings a little swing and a mental breakdown, while oo is all crunched riffs and one-finger-string-solo glory. nuff said.

this is the second release from london duo dark circles on their own dc trax label. the first release was given play on radio 1 s george fitzgerald show and supported by the likes of erol alkan, skream, justin robertson and eric duncan. dc trax 2 sees the first release given the remix treatment by an armoury of heavyweight remixers. phantasy records kamera provides a tuff techno work out of y, emperor machine takes inpiration from his old bizarre inc guise and making use of his old mpc, takes march back to the 90 s raves. the package is finished off by lord of the isles tripping out the well in 2 strong remixes. this will be a limited vinyl release in february which has already earned a play on 2manydjs beats 1 radio show 2x2 .

stephen laubner never fails to deliver the goods, whether on his own label something or elsewhere. having recently popped up on the untold stories, this time around hes dropping his uniquely crusty compositions on synthetic gold. after a quietly disconcerting ambient opening, the leftfield grind of the taphead pushes an uncompromising agenda of ragged bass and an unrelenting groove. october sunrise by way of contrast is a more intimate, sweet natured affair. syntax error too taps into the softer side of laubner s craft in a most mesmerizing of ways, but for the die hard fans fear not, there s also plenty of locked groove loops included to keep you tripping into infinity.

once again, perm has turned just the right knobs to give you the perfect soundtrack for your personal journey into techno wonderland. the leipzig based wizard simply knows how to leave dancers both dizzy and beatific. when those strings in -03-viii- come together to its climax you re more than ready to embrace the night. the focus in -03-iv- is more heavy on the drum work with just the right amount of subtle tripping hazards. -03-iii- builds and builds without ever bubbling over while the mighty -03-viii- comes with a boom-tschak-electro feel to it. the artwork comes courtesy of carl-johannes schulze.

(12inch vinyl individually hand stamped center labels, and front cover) if music is a language that brings people together, then otb is a small dictionary of newly invented words, each artist having his own unique narrative.the stone circle ep, otb010, is aggboroughs fourth installment on the label and is a continued exploration of his signature style, full of field recordings to add atmospheric and percussive sounds

when tripping around, sight becomes blurred, sound turns to noise, but scent remains genuine. attractive or repulsive they stimulate the everyday. the equilibrium is essential. scented trip mimics this balance between monotony and interest for you to feel. hooks and harmonies drive one side, while repetition pushes the flip.

joining our label for the 4th release are dan andrei and kozo, under their collaboration named ak41, a fructuous project that offers three highly complex tracks.
on the a side you can find “icebreaker” solely, an eccentric sound with a steady bassline, percussive kicks, tripping shakers and a thoughtful, mysterious melody that touches all the frequencies of your body. turning to the b side we find “swingenious”, a groovier interpretation produced by a combination of spacey feelings and sophisticated instruments that will move every bone on the dancefloor. closing the ep is “in memoriam”, a melancholic version that is not short of an aggressive bassline, ambiguous vocals and deep introspects, all aligned to disconnect you from the reality of routine.

following his recent releases on delsin and deep sound channel the prolific dutch artist conforce is back on his own transcendent imprint with some filmic and atmospheric tripping techno action. hypothetical future point sends you further into the more ominous and industrial spaces of his alias. spiritual techno with with a wink to the past. boris crafts music with attention to detail and blends influences from his silent harbour and hexagon monikers that seems inevitable.

a1 --aqua lifeforms- is perhaps the least intense cut on the record, a sort of a slow grower which builds up momentum by layering sounds and pads. a2 -body mover- is exactly what the title tells you. crunchy peak time tune for the dance floor, with shuffling broken beats wrapping around deep chords that hint what s happening on the flip side. b1 -doorway to her- is a nod to the classic deep techno chord-ish approach. well, sort of. the song lets you think that until the first curveball just before the half of the track. after that, it s just deeper than deep. b2 -pulsing hearts- is another well-crafted dance floor cut. the track moves from deep meditative vibe to subtle acid tripping, just to be finished with a proper bass workout. overall, we couldn t think of a better way to mark the 10th barba release.
