lsd is an ongoing musical collaboration between longtime electronic music innovators luke slater, steve bicknell and david sumner focusing on psychedelic aspects of techno while emphasizing the cross-pollination of each members style and rhythmic sensibility. personal ties between the three can be traced back across continents and developments in dance music, with steve first inviting luke to play his legendary lost party series in london in the early 90s, resulting in mutual remixes for pioneering techno imprints cosmic records and nova mute. almost a decade later in the year 2000, dave, a native new yorker, befriended steve after inviting him to play limelight in manhattan. over the years, dave and luke would also have numerous encounters, first forming a musical bond in 2009, with dave later co-producing lukes early l.b. dub corp material (roller, 2013).

i think i have never met anybody, with the exception of brazilian guitarists baden powell and toquinho, as connected to his instrument as agustín pereyra lucena – vinicius de moraes the words by bossa novas seminal poet vinicius seem fit as a good introduction to agustín pereyra lucena, the undisputed ambassador of brazilian music in argentina, and a revered guitarist since his early years. pereyra lucena became fascinated by brazilian music during the years of bossa nova, a sound that would define his career despite his later incursions in jazz and french impressionism. this passion led him to drop his architecture studies and become a full time musician, forging his own sound, befriending vinicius and toquinho and sharing stage with many of brazil’s greatest musicians. released in argentina as ese dia va a llegar in 1975, and the following year in europe as brasiliana, this was pereyra lucenas fourth album. a tasteful blend of covers and original compositions, the result is a thrilling bossa jazz album with a character of its own, and which also served as the starting point of guillermo reuters career, who would shortly after start his project candeias, with agustín pereyra lucena on guitar.

nep was a loose multimedia collective formed in 1982 zagreb, ex-yugoslavia. the founder dejan krsic collaborated with various artists in a quest of re-thinking the stale concepts of art history, position of the author and the barriers between pop and elitist high culture. heavily influenced by walter benjamin and andy warhol in theory and brian eno and kraftwerk in music, krsic created nep as an umbrella term (meaning nova evropa) of diverse rule-breaking activities, covering graphic design, music, photography, video, news-media and theoretical work.

2016 is shaping to be a fantastic year for rebirth records, the 10th year anniversary and the 100th release…to celebrate this special date the label owner shield and his right arm robytek get in the studio to collaborate with two of the most innovative figures of the end of 70s / early 80s. the a side is the the pyramids with isabelle antena, french singer and songwriter, founding member of electro-samba pioneers antena. in the 1990s she also led another group, the powaga sisters, for three albums between until 2004. alongside these projects she maintained a solo music career, selling over a million albums and earning musical acclaim across the globe. from camino del sol (1982) to bossa super nova (2010), her cool latin, bossa, jazz and funk vibes have delighted ears and feet worldwide. the pyramids is something really special, a cosmic and balearic song with a timeless meaning, with the collaboration of martin ditcham (sade s percussionist) for the drum and paolo mantini, a real italian talent, for the bass and chords. the aa side is now, a collaboration with salvatore principato (sal p.) and dennis young, known as the vocalist and marimba/percussionist of (for the legendary early 80 s nyc band liquid liquid) seminal nyc minimalist-funk band liquid liquid. the experimental sounding band emerged from new york city s vibrant downtown scene in 1981, developing their own unique sound which they called big beat, a fusion of irresistible basslines, junkyard percussion and urgent, free-flowing lyrics. the group s successes included club hits such as cavern (sampled by grandmaster flash in the making of white lines), bellhead and optimo in addition to sold-out concerts worldwide. sal p and dennis still explore today new ways of writing & performing music. now is the experimental way to combine the live drums played by snacks (the berlin based duo rene corbett & aljoscha babel), with the electronic world and the unique musical textures from sal p and dennis young.

elephant moon continues its steady schedule of releases with a brand new ep from label owner john dimas and danish talent samuel andre madsen (aka s.a.m). on this fresh new release we re treated to two tracks from monsieur dimas and two from s.a.m. to open we have a quirky little space jam called moon patrol by john dimas. it has chunky percussion at its foundation with off-key chimes and cosmic pads giving it an interstellar feel. samuel s reshaped for moonwalk mix puts john s mix on a diet, making it far lighter and focusing on the ethereal elements turning it into a sweet galactic ditty. on the flip we get a sombre bossa nova ride from s.a.m., all jazzy with a grooving bassline and galloping beats. its a cool, laid back riddim from the dane and were sure youll love it. john dimas gives the track his own monday mix, bringing the tempo down even more and crafting a delicate heady rework.

for its premier release, division point industries is proud to announce a 4-track ep by rolling ones, a collaborative project featuring johannes auvinen (tin man) and jordan poling (jordan). rolling ones finds its voice in the synthesis of each artist s sound, combining tin man s acidic melodies with jordan s deep, textural pads. debuting at the division point industries residency at bushwick s notorious bossa nova civic club, rolling ones marked their arrival by playing a dj back-to-back set. opening the record is 93 mustang , a muscular, no-nonsense roller built around deep wells of warm bass and slick-piston percussion. as it builds, tin man s signature acidic squelch dances in the remaining space, giving the track a sense of both life and depth. next is faded delorian , an abyssal burner that refracts its ghostly tones around a panning labyrinth of crystalline synths. on the flip is slammed cadillac , a sinewy, stripped down stomper of clattering percussion and caustic 303s. jacked up impala finishes the record as a jacking acid tool. founded by jordan poling, division point industries is a new label built on the success of a collaborative residency with cory james at brooklyn s bossa nova civic club. having hosted artists ranging from the established to the underground, division point industries has crafted a no-nonsense take on deep house and techno that is rich in history while remaining focused on the future.
