the a1, named after the release title, is a summer techno drive, or a ride through a hot landscape in central america, as the notes of marimba suggest. the subtle but crackling low toms reverb dictates the driving tempo, while the chasing hats warn of a night which is likely to be dirty and sweaty. ready 2 glow opens with an enlightening synth note softly spreading through the air. its the after-hour call, the quietness before a new storm, which is about to boost and bring to surface the spastic contradictions of the drug-based soul liberating after-hour scene. corners goes funk, the quirky and rugged bass line lays at the core of the groove. above, we hear a multitude of spooky sounds and samples ranging from flying saucer sonic surges to playful stabs and bongo madness. the obsessive vocal echo, manipulated according to the abuse of ifferent drugs, is a clear indication of that. alza pure quanto vuoi is almost taken as it was firstly conceived during a jamming session. its twisted, swinging, it breaks the scheme of groove flowing as the tempo suddenly escapes to a faster pitch, jacked out

gawlo is a rolling, resplendent tribute to griot life ù gawlo is fula for griot ù spear-headed by none other than baaba maal. superbly expressive interjections by a trio of talking drums are especially lucid on the instrumental version. on the flip, lignou mome is an exhilarating straight-no-chaser of galloping drums, bad-minded bass and layered guitar, before ndeye gueye wraps up proceedings with a third instrumental, propelled by terse, hypnotic figures on guitar and marimba synth. with the drum-kit unattended, octogenarian legend doudou ndiaye rose features on lead sabar.

six artists remix the rich sound material from sven kacireks lp >scarlet pitch dreams< (pingipung 32, april 2012). svens original percussion recordings and his densely layered melodies invite for a rework which fo- cuses on the single elements. robert lippok (to rococo rot, raster noton) turns the title track into a balearic sunshine dance until the voice and synthlines evoke a deep and driving witchhouse at- mosphere. absolutely awesome remix! opiate aka thomas knak from denmark (morr music) is one of pingipungs favourite artists in the world and we are very happy to have his remix included here. his highly individual syncopating beat works dive into the pool of svens percussions, with the snare and marimba always in the foreground.

finally we have d.o.g regular tornado wallace onboard to provide a remix which takes the original into far deeper territory. tw drops the bpms, adds an arpeggiating marimba line and builds up the synths resulting in a late night vibe which compliments the vocal perfectly.

the second edition of the mosso series adheres to its archetypal plan, as alejandro mosso leads us forwards on his musical trek and through the grooves carved onto this record. for this new number, alejandro mosso decided to delve back into his archives and take a closer listen to some forgotten, unfinished pieces. some listeners will surely recognise certain bits of this record as they were part of mossos live performance years ago. this is however the first time they will be edited and see the light of day. on the a-side, aconcagua is a festive theme on which a magnetic marimba riff turns into an escalating melody, surrounded by a forest of ascending percussions - characteristic of mossos production – lightly floating around it. cashmere, the flip, was conceived while airborne on a flying carpet, half way above the indian subcontinent and below the countles gleaming stars. perfect instance of alejandro mossos talent, it is a subtle blend of hovering winds and crystallized textures. the bansuri flute and the clave go hand in hand to form reassuring horizons, the soundtrack for a longer moment of hope, greater perspective and spiritual transformation.

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.
