a limited edition, and last ever, repress - it is no secret that rvs is not truly a record label, but is in fact a downy creature of the forests! in keeping with this faunal existence, our whiskered beast has recently returned to the foot of a familiar shrubbery whence it emerged and has begun burrowing fiercely at its roots. in doing so, it has unearthed a vast and dusty tome of innumerable chapters, named the reverb chronicles, that details over 20 years of foraging habits. hence, we present the first four-part volume of the said opus for your perusal and distraction.

nadanna is extremely proud and excited to present tobias bernstrup’s new album “technophobic”. bernstrup who works both as a visual artist and musician has been touring worldwide since the late 1990s and positioned himself as one of the leading re-inventors of italo disco with his unique mix of italo, synthpop and gothic noir. he has created his own unmistakable stage persona wearing androgynous outfits in shiny latex and heavy make-up. tobias has collaborated with seminal artists such as trans-x, apoptygma berzerk, martial canterel, xeno & oaklander, lebanon hanover, and she past away. “technophobic” contains 10 smashing tracks including the recent single “utopia”, and “metropolis of tomorrow” featuring french dark synth wave artist hante. combining influences from classic synthpop, minimal wave, dark wave in a retro futuristic manner tobias bernstrup has created an album reminiscent of the 80s but in a contemporary context of sound landscape.

local action and nts radio’s finn launches his new label, 2 b real, with a 12- of fast-paced, no-nonsense club tracks. finn first appeared in 2014 with ‘keep calling’ - an instant classic and one of the year’s best-received releases, played relentlessly by kode9, dj q, murlo, eclair fifi, scratcha dva and more. since then he’s developed a cult following as a dj, with a palette of regional us club styles, classic house and techno, grime & freestyle electro beyond his years - broadcast through his monthly nts show and his regular b2b podcasts, where he goes track for track with a dj he admires (such as uniiqu3, teki latex and conor thomas). 2 be real is finn’s new home for dance tracks high in thrills and low on bullshit. on 2br001, he draws on classic ghettotech for the melodic keys and urgent 909s of ‘late at night’ (with a more uk-indebted darkside mix on the flip), and teams up with resident swing ting mc fox for ‘lightwork’, a vocal cut inspired by detroit’s own legacy of hip house and ‘chant’ records.

juan ramos lives on planet earth but channels voices from the aether. this is his first offering for the esp institute. on side a, last of the natives shows us just what we’re dealing with, a master manipulator of sound and consciousness. juan culls the toughest kick drums and thickest latex bass slaps from a deep burial in our psyche and peppers them with alien chants and fleeting electronic flutes—a combustible sense of spontaneity that may at first appear chaotic but after fully immersed in juan’s demented world, we find ourselves willfully under his control. on side b, enemy of enemy is friend also sets off from a disorienting place where a slow progression of acid, shakers and toms takes a good minute to allow us some footing around the groove. once settled into his sophisticated rhythm, juan opens the door to a glorious combination of chords, clanking guitars, shakers that scrub back and forth and the occasional smear of paranormal synth. we at the esp institute are enamored by juan’s seemingly infinite skill for crafting mood and extracting optimism from darkness, but seriously, what color speedotm should she wear this summer?

billy nasty’s electrix records launches its 2016 schedule by welcoming back the always impressive, carl finlow. carl is one of dance music’s leading lights and a multi-talented producer across a range of genres, with releases stretching back to the early 90s. well known for the 2020 vision label he launched with ralph lawson, his solo work however has often taken an electro route with releases under various guises like random factor, black labs, voice stealer, silicon scally and scarletron (with daz quayle) on labels including warp, fuel, playhouse, paper, trope, sony, klang, arista, soma, scsi, pagan, minifunk, seventh sign and satamile. it’s been almost 3 years since carl appeared on electrix. his ‘boot loop ep’ became the label’s second release after its re-launch in 2013. but it’s definitely been worth the wait. his ‘electricology 4 ep’ once again shows why he’s a master of the genre. from the tough and funked-up ‘lateral thoughts’, speckled and melodic ‘hyperloop’, squelching, bassy ‘suspect reanimation’ and sinister, beat-driven ‘latext’, right through to the playful ‘atomic level’ (a bonus track for the digital release), the ep shines, with a stamp of high quality running though its core.

played by sven väth !!! night voyage tool kit is the collaborative project of two like-minded producers, night slugs bok bok and tom trago, curator of the rush hour labels voyage direct series. originally commissioned by sound pellegrino label boss teki latex, this is the result of four intense days and nights in toms amsterdam studio, surrounded by hardware and enshrouded in a thick haze. having pursued very different directions in their respective solo work, the duo find common ground in minimalism, dj tools, the neptunes and ghetto house. the result is a collection of stripped down rhythm tracks aimed straight for the club: the arpeggiator workout of pathfinder, vectors cosmic jeep bass, pom clash and its grimey lil louis tribute, and the acid epic lil ma bonus beat.

neon dreams is the debut album from london-based producer and night slugs co-founder james connolly, aka l-vis 1990. across 15-tracks and 55-minutes, james distils a lifetimes worth of musical influences and experiences while conveying the story of the last 12 months in his life through vocalists samantha lim and javeon mccarthy. 2010s *forever you* single, which featured mccarthy, was a key jumping off point in establishing the overall vibe of neon dreams. the track features here as a slimmed down, 3.5 minute version. this length represents approximately the average track-duration across the entire lp, and is indicative of james long-held desire to proffer an album in very much the traditional sense of the term. further vocal turns come from co-founder of the sound pellegrino imprint and french hip-hop outfit ttc, teki latex.
