dimensions recordings fifth release sees the label step into the world of the long player with istanbul native, kerem akdag s self-titled debut album. kerem has already been winning fans of the ilk of gilles peterson through his previous output of dusty house and tripped out beats in the last few years, and of course via his getdownsoclose offering on dimensions debut release. his debut album however, sees kerem deliver a mature piece of work, bright and timeless, equally effective in the club as it is at home and brimming with ideas, hooks and must have songs. across eight tracks kerem demonstrates a breadth of skills that most artists would work a lifetime to achieve. from the stepping beats of when i think of you to his subtle vocal layers on isolated and from the woozy beach vibes of sultan to the squelching, rasping synths of unite it s clear that there s very little that s outside of kerem s arsenal. the album rounds out fittingly with drums please, which perfectly displays kerem s jazz tendencies, a slow grooving track whose crescendo of stabs and drums create a song that s more powerful than its parts. kerem akdag s debut album clearly sets out the stall for a man who has a lot to say and has the capability to say it loud!listen up! pressed on clear vinyl with a metallic sticker insert.

we open 2018 with a soulful and fluffy masterpiece by the italian genius broke one. musically located somewhere in between max graef, 4hero and clifford gilberto -this thing called reality- is a perfect example for the successful marriage of jazz, soul and house. the narrative and highly elaborated 4-tracker, once again pressed on 555 individually colored vinyls, pushes the wonky-house-benchmark a little higher. in beautifully diversified arrangements broke interweaves deep and jazzy soundspheres with clubby, high energetic sections – a 12&#8243,,, multi-purpose tool for club use and home application. bigbait027 is the last edition of our random-color series. each of the 555 records is individually colored, colors tend from orange to yellow, shift between blue, red, green and white.

we are extremely happy to welcome malouane to our roster for this third release. the atmosphere of malouane is unique: raw, melodic and full of details with charm. -long way for the homies- will recall artists like mcde or rick wade, quite in the same vein: jazzy, soul and house. the second, -keep yo mama clean- very catchy too: drums, beautiful basses and small samples interact with each other. these elements work perfectly, because malouane has a real sense of musical arrangement, a real mastery of sampling. -this is supposed to be an outro- is the last track of the original tracks: it is a little slower than the others but a great wealth: a real charm and a true personality emerges from this piece. the multitude of details and, again, the mastery of the sample make it a piece as much club as listening. cody currie has proposed his own vision. the young english producer made a great remix by putting his style and clement’s together. finally, times are ruff also offers their reinterpretation of keep yo mama clean: softer and quite faithful to the atmosphere of this ep, with a small taste of chaos in the cbd, the dutch have done a remarkable job.

the third release for la freund recordings comes from amsterdam resident beraber. consisting of four strong and diverse tracks and a jazzy, piano-heavy remix by chicago house legend vincent floyd, sun ritual works just as well in the club as it does at home. after working on hiphop and downtempo electronica under different aliases, this ep sees baris akardere venturing into up-tempo territories, marking the debut of his beraber moniker. all tracks were written and produced during the last two years, combining digital instruments like the korg m1 and yamaha dx7 with analog gear like the roland juno-6 and korg ms-10. kicking things off on the a-side is title track sun ritual, a positive and warm tune with lush chords and arpeggiated synths. after a surprising outro, it gets the remix treatment by deep house pioneer vincent floyd, who adds multiple layers to it and delivers a stunning, dreamy eight-minute take on the original. the flipside opens with ugly, a soulful club workout with a deep bassline, rolling drums with crisp hi-hats and a hypnotic melody. next up is introspect, a serious electro-tinged cut with heavy juno chords building up tension as the track evolves. rounding it up nicely, forest rain treats us to an intimate broken-beat affair laced with rhodes chords and field recordings from bali.

on “rest in space”, his first full length outing for music for dreams, the lp keeps a steady pace of around 90-95 bpm, but never gets repetitive with islandman taking us on a rich and ever surprising journey, full of quirky turns and mysterious instrumentations. the opener “rest in space” treats us to a funky percussion-thick rhythm that lounges into a pool of playful & jazzy horn & flute arrangements. this is followed by the epic “night wind” which sweeps across cinematic desert landscapes of synth layers and falls into a dark night time groove reminiscent of nicolas jaar & dave harrington’s darkside project. “seikleos” centers around a motorik electronic rhythm pattern (not unlike the classic electro-pop classic “popcorn”) that develops into a chugging balearic house jam while stand out track “future days” brings in a female guest vocalist to complete the album with a breezy full on groover that echoes of both sheila chandra and tom tom club. also included is the previously released digital single “agit” as well as a remix by berlin-based m.rux, toning down the heavy guitar of the original in favor of a more bouncier interpretation. the stunning “ikaru” wades in through chunks of jungle ambiance and watery percussion to lounge along on a rubbery funk bassline, coupled with a heavy laid back beat and wobbly derelict synth figures. “tawhid” is an odd mix of new wave brilliance and prog momentum that breaks into a cascade of pouring rain and surprising percussion breaks. lastly comes gorgeous eastern guitar opus “the true word of the wind” and the warm vibey dreamscape “following”. as a whole, islandman delivers a delicate buffet of influences - spanning the spectrum from hazy balearic pop to tropical new age flirts to deep spiritual psychedelic jamming.

creme organization s latest missive comes from fabio monesi, an italian with a gritty house sound that is aimed squarely at the club. he s served up punchy beats on labels like russian torrent versions as well as his own wilson records before now and has a simple but effective sound. riot kicks us off with rock slid kicks and lithe synth stabs fleshing out the macho groove. clever vocal samples bring some steaminess and ensure this one will do plenty of damage on the floor. last friday is a raw and lo-fi affair with rattling, sharp edged hits and hissing synths all softened with jazzy chords. house drums and rolling bass prop it up in groovy fashion, then reduction is a frazzled brew of spiting hits, jerking machine grooves and busted frequencies that is as raw and tough as you like. last of all, the excellent ozyork rounds us out with punchy drum programming, intoxicating and off kilter chords and brain frying sonic imperfections that are perfectly imperfect. add in a deep acid line and you have a surefire house bomb with real meat in its bones.

london star alexis raphael returns to hot creations with the dance floor killer it’s kinda jazzy, with fine french exports dan ghenacia and chris carrier teaming up to deliver the remix with electrifying results. title track it’s kinda jazzy is an ultimate peak time weapon. alexis explains how its a real melting pot of different musical influences that have inspired me over the years. there s everything from hip-hop to 90 s uk house and garage, jungle/drum and bass, upfront house and techno and, of course, jazz. on the flip dan ghenacia and chris carrier deliver a solid remix that keeps the pace, changing gear through trippy turns. last up, second original track strip off lays down the swing with sultry vocal slices. an influential player on the london scene, alexis raphael earned his stripes across the pirate radio stations of north and east london during the late 90s and early 00s and went on to hold residencies at legendary london clubs the cross and bagley’s. his first release spaceship was picked up by hot creations sub-label hot waves in 2011. since then, he’s had numerous releases and remixes on labels including jackathon jams, of unsound mind, avotre and get physical and not forgetting his anthem, i know. dan ghenacia is the undisputed kingpin of the paris underground scene, having founded and ran freak n’chic for seven years and now one of the three creative minds behind new label and b2b2b dj outfit apollonia. chris carrier is another heavy-weight from the french underground scene. together they have delivered some recent killer ep’s on appolonia, music for freaks and adult only.

uk producer allen saei aka aubrey is no stranger to burek family, having already remixed information ghettos -inspiration- track for burek in 2013 and dj stingray s -communication system- track released on barba in 2015. as is to be expected from a guy whos been spending time in the studio for better part of the last three decades, on 13th barba release aubrey delivers a mature and consistent space-themed club 12- titled -space funk-.

having made himself an indispensable member of the uk soul/funk scene, playing live performances of ‘zoology’ to much acclaim, as well as setting up a regular groove night at london’s 606 jazz club, carl has recently finished work on his second album - pixel planet, which tells the story of an alien spacecraft, exploring our solar system, 30.000 years into the future - looking for the last bastion of human activity long after we have departed. this dystopian tale is told using a huge array of cosmic electronics, many of which were soldered together by carl himself, including his own diy synthesiser - the recyclotron 64 - constructed out of commodore 64 chips and built in an mdf box, and providing some of the monster bass lines on this album. as well as calling in the digisoul gang, some new friends appear on this album, including powerhouse drummers pete ray biggin, and ‘jungle’ jimmy norden.

james dexters star has been rising for a while now - the young brit turning out killer tracks regularly on the back of hugely well received dj sets. on his second outing for dessous recordings, dexter does what he does best - four slices of deep, funky and vibing house music for the floor. lead track drift is typical of dexters flair for subtle, edgy sounds, wrapped inside a warm and inviting groove. elements come and go, but the shuffling, infection feel runs throughout. take me is a more upfront vibe with a seriously bumping groove - dexter clearly well versed in the roots of house music from chicago. ‘whose rules ?’ is a snappy, bright and lively production, with a sub bass that will troubler some of the world’s best club systems in the coming months. the light, jazzy vocals offsets the groove perfectly - sure to be a big tune for a wide variety of djs. the last track of the release is disco deep - and it pretty much does exactly what it says - a swung, groovy feel punctuated by disco claps and balearic flourishes that will sound as good on the beach as in the basement.

the young roman artist emiliano morini, hidden in the shadows, reaches his individual project second goal. after debuting with his first ep in the electronic music scene, which also included a collaboration with ed frimann (an already known character of the roman scene) emiliano shows increased maturity through this refined and elegant work. a not necessarily dancefloor oriented straight cash, combined by extremely pleasent sounds, makes his last ep also usable for a home listening session. the ep consists in 4 tracks, each one clearly mirror of a sensitive and deep soul: -deep fusion- is a high tension piece with a submerged but impetuous roaring bassline. -ocean- that could be almost called a jazz track, full of human presence because of a seem live played ride and a lead that sounds like the result of improvisation. on the b side, we find instead a slightly more -club- dimension, without anyhow the loss of musicality. -techno mod- is a tribute to the best acid techno surrounded by an amniotic sea of pads. -vinyl track 2a- portically closes the work with loads of hypnosis and melancholy sounds enclosed in the same box.

henry wu applies jazz infused hip-hop sensibilities to these synth-boogie, and deep house tracks. this was wu’s debut release and set the platform for further massive releases on eglo and rhythm section. on the flip jeen bassa goes in deep with percussive house infused afro-beats laden with jazzy hip hop rhythms. haling from a family of talented musicians (mo kolours and reginald omas mamode iv) he has since gone on to similarly large releases, including last years sterling time waves ep on 22a.

paris-based beat x changers brings up to you a new record with a collaborative project in the shape of classic cuts.our new release introduces two new french artists brought together on a split ep: tell from paris and name from the sunny avignon city, both of them backed- up by exclusive remixes from three of our historical beat x producers: neue grafik and pulkone (aka x_1 & monomite). on the a-side, discover tell - a 20-year old jazz drummer - who releases two soulful and melodic tracks. you’ll recognize the heat of the mpc grain, obsessing samples and uplifting breaks. on the b-side, southern producer name offers a disco-like and funky house music via two dancing tracks with a clear reference to the clubbing universe of new york and chicago. this activist dj and experimented producer – he is an ableton teacher on the side – gained recognition in the south of france music scene in the last decade and reached the ears of producer kink.grand Écart (i.e. wide gap or split) recalls the time it took to release this ep. it’s also a geographical gap, a gap between the ideas of the five artists brought together on this release, a gap between our expectations and the reality of some passed – or cancelled – venues in paris. we have always believed in this project and in our flexibility!

“prÉvision #02” is the second compilation and third vinyl of forecast label, french record label originated in 2012. it gathers six house, electronica and techno tracks in varied styles for various artists. the original idea was to make artists exchanges ideas together to create tracks that would exactly define each one’s identity. while cheaper shepherd’s “weasels” show again their shiny and catchy vintage house, romain play explores several music genders through a train trip across jazz, psychedelic rock and house. the new comer roman s releases his first track ever, showing his talent for groove and minimal house. on the b-side, d°c, breilitz and sir squi explore three kinds of techno. first track of this side, “erebus” shows a kompakt-like new wave but club-oriented techno. “raw interference” could without any doubt be played at berghain. last track, “(crashed)” is on the psychedelic slope of techno. it uses a sitar, to ends the compilation on a shinier note.

releasing an album is a daunting task, especially in dance music. you got to keep it fresh and exciting from the very beginning until the last track, not sticking to one tempo, make tracks that work both at home and in the club and ultimately tell a story with your music. alexander lay-far knows a thing or two about this, having his debut album so many ways out back in 2013. the thing with lay-far and a big reason why we ve always had a soft spot for him is his way of incorporating a certain magic in the tracks that leaves you on an uplifting and optimistic note. therefore we re really excited to release his second album, how i communicate, on local talk. how i communicate is a two part vinyl release which we hope will come as a fresh breeze in these days where so much dance music simply lacks the actual musical aspect or the organic approach. like most producers and djs that are influenced by soul, disco, jazz and the blacker side of electronic dance music its all about the actual tune . listening (or dancing) through this album we hope you ll find your special tune (or tunes!) that hopefully will bring joy to your ears. to his aid lay-far has invited an impressive cast of collaborators such as ashley beedle & darren morris, restless soul, sean mccabe & mark de clive-lowe to give the tracks that little extra something under the watchful eye of lay-far himself. or as lay-far describes it himself the album is about the music as the universal language, the ultimate means of communication, bringing people of the world together. part 2 will be released in the new year...

in the heart of madrid the el barrio djs have been one of the biggest gamm supporters over the last 10 years or so, spinning our gems in various jazz clubs in the spanish capitol. we are now overly excited to have them onboard gamm with an absolutely stunning 3 track ep. the el barrio guys really know how to twist and rework various tunes into one song and the art of editing have never sounded better than now.

listening to the sound of konfetti klub ensemble creates associations of those sparkling drops that run down the side of an ice cold drink on hot summer days. it’s a very refreshing and delicious listening experience, it’s both stimulating and soothing. if you think the formula brass players + club groove is somewhat worn-out, you will be pleasantly surprised. pomelo comes with bouncy offbeat rhythms, and when the trombone hits in there’s clearly an air of balkan sound. however, around the middle of the track it turns into a joyful freestyle session. mollono.bass puts a bit more emphasis on beats, bass and pressure in his version, in other words: even a bit more emphasis on the dance floor. rotwein und sommerverbot gives a groovy hint why konfetti klub ensemble describe their sound as live brass house – it’s extremely jazzy and casual, a live session rather than a programmed arrangement. even more so schwankel, as it vibrates effortlessly between intricate musical deepness and sheer to-the-floor euphoria. last but not least there is a track exclusively for the digital release: stranddub – beach dub. let’s put it like that: there’s a damn good party happing at this beach.

nelistening back, ‘interlude’ will feel like the perfect opening to ‘skylax’. a jazzy encore crawls in, morphing into a skippy hip-hop instrumental with jason’s signature flourishes all over it. aptly named as it is, this is the breathing space between whatever came before in your day, and the eleven deep house gems that are to follow. speaking of, ‘the love’ will have you gripped from the first bar. it glides the listener in, then subtly drops that signature, tightly-tuned bassline of jason’s and continues onto soulful vocals from there. ‘old dayz’ touches on a bit of a nostalgic note. the spoken vox cuts harken back to 90s hip-hop joints, playing over a looped latin sample-led beat. from there, ‘rawkicks 2’ shows jason’s rough and ready sampling style in action. a seemingly simple track, but one which has that special something which guarantees to keep people on the floor moving for its duration. ‘cut b’ contrasts this nicely, being a much cleaner production with tight drum programming and synth work. that said, it still has the classic jg atmosphere we love. closing out the first half of the album, ‘definition’ slows the pace ever so slightly, with its eternal pad structure that builds up the track’s momentum into something very mellow and deep.bringing in the second half of ‘skylax’, ‘john blue’ takes things back a notch further. a deeper tune, yet one that shows off an uncharacteristically punchy bass hit from jason. ‘last night’ is a track more reminiscent of jason’s first lost cuts ep on wax classic, sounding as if it had been freshly taken off an old tape with its sample-led beat and background hiss. the last four tracks of the album see a return to the ‘mastercuts’ and ‘lovedits’ series which fans will recognize from the ‘lost cuts’ records, with ‘lovedits 7’ and ‘mastercut 5’ respectively. the former is a laid back female vocal edit with the entire suite of signature jg touches while the latter is a garage house hit more crafted for the club. ‘bb’ brings the album to a close, twisting a disco/funksample over a pallet of drums and effects for the near six-minute duration of the track.all in all, this is the perfect follow up to jason’s debut album ‘313.4.ever’, with tracks for both the club and home listening. if you happened to miss the first album back in 2012, don’t forget that now you have the chance to grab it in a special double pack with ‘skylax’ on cd!so, needless to say, this timeless record is a must purchase for all collectors and djs out there

unxpozd presents the 7th project from dj aakmael, the rise ep. the lead tune -rise- is a blissful, relaxed string based track with playful keys thats perfect for any chill lounge or dance floor. jazz piece is a sampled piece of art, where aak cuts and chops a vintage groove for the 2014 crowd. many have already hailed it as something that has that old nj deep house feel! on the flip side, aak gives two more untitled gems. untitled 105 is a dope club thumper that takes you back to that headknod feeling, perfect for any dance floor who liked to groove! last is untitled 101, thumping beat with dramatic horns and strings to conclude a well-packaged project!

in 2011 when mad mats and tooli went to sonar festival in barcelona they met ludovic llorca aka art of tones outside a club. little did they know back then that two years later on they would release a 12 inch together. the same thing ep opens with the title track and kicks pretty damn sweet with its strong vocal, the guitar, bass and rhodes jamming on top of a tight groove, there is also a dub version included on the b-side. last but not least, the great sgatmi is a jazzy and bumpy house take with lots of samples perfectly balanced. all in all, classic art of tones material and the work of a producer firing on all cylinders.

last time we visited satta outside we have been blown away by the music of young lithuanian producer 96wrld who had a couple of singles with monday jazz and renegades of bump. we signed him right away and we are excited to finally share with the world his debut ep *private language* on 12 inch vinyl, limited to 300 copies. a collection of eight tunes that showcase 96wrld s potential as a producer and songwriter that embraces different composition styles, typically in a single tune. his arrangements are complex and give away all detail only on repeated listen. however, tracks like bruce willis can put any club to pieces easily ... test yourself.

after the well-received and genre-bending album that was last years ky do mar, studnitzky makes another wise move: by inviting two of the most sought-after remixers at the moment to rework two of the albums tracks the german jazz-trained trumpet and piano player shifts his music smartly towards club land.

an unmissable 12 inch collection from legendary soul-jazz organist charles earland. first up we have the wonderful over and over. co-produced by organist earland and randy muller, the man behind brass construction and skyy, this nine-minute masterclass in jazz-funk greatness was as big on the uk all-dayer scene as it was at david mancusos loft and blows up any dancefloor today. over on the flip is steppers delight, the classic anthem let the music play. released in 1978, this superbly fast and furious jazz-funk workout blasted onto the disco and club scene leaving a lasting impact today. last, but not least, intergalactic love song brings the tempo right down with a great spacey sound which doesnt lose earlands unmistakeable signature keys and sleek jazz style. essential!

last year kyodai dropped breaking, which to date is the biggest selling release on local talk. now the brothers are back with in our opinion a future house anthem. the scene is a classic piano house cut that’s impossible to resist and together with one the coolest vocal samples we’ve ever heard we think this has the potential to go really big. when the breakdown drops we’re pretty sure everybody in the club will chant. but as if this was not enough we also got another big tune on the b-side. moving is the continuation of “breaking” and goes along the same lines with its crossover jazz styled house. once again kyodai delivers a supa solid house production with large jazz breakdowns and old school vocals that’s right up their with ”breaking”. this is also why we called it…breaking pt.2. kyodai is currently working on their debut album for local talk which is due later this year. they’re also travelling around the world with their amazing live dj set that we highly recommend. trust us when we say that these two brothers really now how to turn up the heat in a club…serious biz!

some proper quality house music on the 3rd and final part in the golden age trilogy by giles and martin aka the two armadillos. think larry heard, norm talley, delano smith and the likes! the a side once again is club track with a modulating, moody heavy, heavy bassline and lots of atmosphere. definitely one for big rooms but for deeper 5am moments with its strings and fluttering hypnotic keys. this has been going down a treat in both giles and martins dj sets for some time. >detroit dancer< has a jazzy scat drum programming, keys, plenty of atmosphere and sparkling synth solos. last up the downtempo musical and downright lazy vibes of >majestic< with its stand up bass, strings and keys play out and signal the final track of the trilogy of releases.

whether on his own or with nick hoppner as my my lee jones has been djing and making music for more than a decade. in 2008 jones released his debut full-length lp “electronic frank” on aus music. his solo releases and remixes have appeared on labels such as aus music, ostgut ton, liebe*detail and cityfox and last year, he did his first ever mix cd for the world famous watergate club. next up from the talented producer is a futuristic 4-tracker on aus, incl 2 remixes from george fitzgerald and midland. for the lead track moment, jones offers up a bass driven house number that hints at his jazz roots whilst pushing forward into garage territory. for the remix, george fitzgerald delivers his most straight up, heads down house production to date. next up is duvel, a characteristically quirky jones production, bouncy and deep all at once but with a bass line that will hold its own at peak time. midland steps up for the remix, twisting it into a moody multi-genre convergence like only he can.

deep series is back! the third deep series features a fascinating symbiosis of two individuals: ekkohaus and santos resiak. the two of them started to work on this project in 2009 and are now finally ready to share it with the rest of the world. during that time, ekkohaus made a splash with a whole array of top releases e.g. 2020 vision, circus company and cargo edition. santos resiak was also having a blast – e.g. after his last release at mothership. the three tracks on the new deep series fuse together the artists still unbroken enthusiasm for deep sounds in one melodic common denominator. >thanx but no< is a homage to the saxophone (btw: played live by robert wuerz). heavy with groovy loops the track creates a free floating ambience reminiscent of a jazz club in new orleans or a night club on an early morning in berlin.

spains jazzler aka dixie yure has been around for a few years now, recording a string of superb releases for fenou, nordik and of course flumo recordings. the summer of 2011 sees him follow up last years - she has ep - with an outstanding new track in the shape of - beth & the gamma ray fields. recorded as an ode to a fan called beth, - beth & the gamma ray fields - has already established itself as one of this summer big underground records, opening lee curtis watergate compilation and being used by the club for their summer opening video.

what a journey! well, these guys have been around for a while- they have gone through: rave, jazz, krautrock, garage, detroit, house, hip-hop, disco, folk, dubstep, electronica, funk, punk, wave, chicago house, handmade music and soul. all those nights at clubs, the records, the shelves, the dirt in the second-hand record shops, the stacked audio- and studio magazines in their toilets or elsewhere in the house, the hours spent making their own radio-shows, hundreds of hotels checked in and out of, dozens of sound-checks done. last but not least, the revivals, the subgenres, the fusion - well these peeps have given real influential input into some of these (sub)genres in the past. >lovin< is the second single release of the upcoming >alex and the grizzly< album which is due out in april 2011. alex barck is on the vocals together with lois longerling, who is known for her work with dollkraut. andre lodemann delivers a smart remix giving the tune his trade-mark sound and putting onto the house-dancefloors. prommer and barck are on tour with their own live show.
