matt nowak drops a trio of mesmerising techno tracks on his zaijenroots imprint this june with appearances from sebastian klenk and jerome sydenham. matt nowak inaugurated the zaijenroots discography under his no mad ronin moniker alongside jerome sydenham in 2013, before reappearing for the second release with quiet daze (ian pooley) on remix duties. as the label returns for its third outing nowak pairs up with german producer sebastian klenk whilst distinguished veteran sydenham carves up a remix. *aleister* sees nowak and klenk create an acosmic track that initiates with a touch of funk before sullen synths make way for punchy sp-1200 beats and unsettling throbs. sydenham provides a rendition of no mad ronin *chemical planet* from zaijenroots second release, featuring a perennial hook joined by intangible spoken samples and a subtle sub bass. lastly *lenore* ties things together with a subterranean cut abundant with echoes and spacey atmospherics.

title track joyride kicks things off with a straight up 909 beat, complete with scifi sweeps and classic wood block percussion, quickly working its way into an very subtle groove with every element working effectively to keep it fully funk laden. sideways completes the a side of the release and gets going right from the beginning. pumping percussion takes hold and hits the ground running before a perfectly weighted synth hook lashes over the top with henning playing with the synths lfo to creative effect. dust takes things down a notch as swirling pads drape themselves over a serious 909 beat. henning lets this one loop out, letting the subtle variations in the synths do the work as the 909 holds the beat solid and reminiscent of early berlin/detroit dub techno crossovers. mars attacks closes of the ep and does so in particularly fine fashion. a more broken beat affair this time from henning and he really works his machines into a sonic warfare of bass tones and tweaked out synths that sear through the crashing percussion workout.

we are pleased to announce the release of dr burisch by perseus trax on crimes of the future. after releases on bunker, mos & chiwax (to name a few), the ep is a four track soundtrack to some forgotten alien abduction documentary... maybe. starting off with rainy tuesday and its skipping pitch shift melodies, and followed by lotus protocol and its almost richard d. hook. on the flip we have the title track, slow and building, very much the theme of the piece. the ep finishes with electrical surge, and its static crackle of radio interference and damaged power lines.

the 6th release on bond celebrates its makers return to the wheel. it consists of three tracks made by petter b and is part of a series called roots. the a-side, roots pt i, is as ballistic track that got a simple yet addictive stab as a hook. it sound could best be described as that t-shirt you went clubbing in for 24h and that you should wash thoroughly before ever wearing again. that dirty. on the flip side you got drummer iii which, like its predecessors, is a simple yet effective tool track. last but not least you got shut your eyes. follow the titles advice and leap of into infinity and beyond with this 303/707 minimalistic soundscape voyage. a perfect end to a great night.

accept no imitations, this is a genuine reissue from the label who gave us this now-legendary italo maxi-single back in 1986. often discussed in hushed tones among italo and disco enthusiasts mirko galli s most successful release tapped into the british songwriting/pop dynamics with both tracks while retaining full focus on the dancefloor with heavily synthetic grooves that refuse to quit. -when i let you down- is a visage-style love story blessed with intricate melodic layers and big catchy vocals. meanwhile -boogie tonight- is all about the metallic arpeggio, a nagging hook and future-minded arrangement twists that foretold the drama of house music before it even happened. a serious document, this.

jel ford kicks off his return ep with two tracks of clean big room techno. the title track backyard is a moody affair with a low drone throughout that is complimented with layered synth stabs. using reverb to create atmosphere within the track it subtly breaks down before a vocal hook transcends the track to deliver a killer blow. meeting of minds is dubbier and uses a tripped out synth to add rhythm whilst working alongside a synth pattern to keep the track chugging along. the slow evolving pads add texture and keep the track nicely filled out whilst this timeless classic keeps on giving.

dense & pikas offshoot label kneaded pains returns with another techno focused 4 tracker from the mysterious moss a1 brings the heat with a spacious warehouse jam, kicking off with a warm pad before unloading with the tracks monstrous bass hook. a2 dives into lo:fi realms with a moody yet effective groove complete with male spoken vocal. b1 keeps things main room albeit in a more clean and serene way with razor sharp kicks and percussion providing a nice counterpoint to the rougher edge of the a side before b2s deliciously deep jam rounds off the ep.

londoners kiwi and ashworth return to sneaky for a follow-up to dawn ep, the warm, dusty and at times experimental release, championed by the likes of daniel avery, eric duncan and tiefschwarz. the past few months have been busy for both halves of the duo, with kiwi signing to duke dumont s blase boys club and remixing for house music super-labels bpitch control and get physical, whilst ashworth has signed music to tomoki tamura s holic trax and needwant. second ep takes a new format, with two original tracks alaska and na am on the a-side, backed up by a nicholas & marcoradi remix of cux3 and ranacat s remix of zubr. alaska could be described as an amalgamation of the inspirations that lead to the first sneaky release, combining the pumping house beats of cux3, the comforting wurlitzer of zubr and the ethereal movie-soundtrack dusk. na am is something totally different, existing mainly as a collage of recorded and found sounds, avoiding the usual structure of house music in favour of something reminiscent of the weirder side of the chemical brothers. strange though the track may be, the climax would undoubtedly move a room full of pilled up ravers to a state of frenzy. the b-side remixes both hint to dance floors of the 90s, with nicholas and marcoradi making you wait and wait before dropping an unforgettable piano hook, whilst sneaky s ranacat lifts zubr out of context and into peak time territory.

following the success of the digital release of sleazy mcqueens *you know how ep*, upstart label, cvmr were compelled to press the remixes to vinyl. the proceedings open in superb style thanks to the revenges live dub. a bass heavy tool with equal parts classic house and disco, with a touch of arthur baker-style drums. on a2, sleazy mcqueens space coast take things to the basement with the help of romano arcaini (latenight society), warm rhodes, live bass and an absolute drum-break-freakout add a decidedly different dub flavor to the package. b/w compost blacks main man kasper bjorke offers his acid tinged interpretation, driven by a gritty saw-wave bass hook, rolling snare hits, wanderings arps and crunchy drums, a simply stunning piece of music as expected from the undeniably talented copenhagen born producer. closing out the remix ep, cvmr in-house producer, century strips back the vibe to a dropped tempo, emotive workout fuelled be heavily reverberated piano chords, echoing vocal lines and a general chuggy, low-slung vibe throughout.

here s something to stir the loins of any discerning disco dj: a studio hook-up between veteran producer felix dickinson (fresh from his much-loved outing on futureboogie recordings), horse meat disco and one-time dfa man (and renowned multi-instrumentalist) marcus marr. there s an additional contributor, too: a mystery (presumably big-name) vocalist whose talk-box heavy delivery sits somewhere between prince, george clinton and pharrell. the track itself is something of a summer anthem in the making - an immaculately produced p-funk jam with the additional benefit of a shuffling, house-friendly groove. no details on how many copies have been pressed, either way, you d be well advised to snap up a copy while you still can.

7eventhirty and gensu dean. rapper and producer. mello music group stalwarts and jackson, mississippi natives turned dallas denizens. their working together was fated, rooted in shared soil before it was written in indelible ink. with 7eventhirtys sophomore album, the problem, the duo have committed their destined collaboration to wax, giving rap listeners an album that wrestles with the rapidly changing present and carves out a much-deserved space in the forever-uncertain future.

the next outing on mora music comes from leeds based tms, delivering two well-rounded & versatile tracks. *fuck you, pay me* is the peak timer with firing, pounding kick drums and off-key stabs in the background. it builds to a crescendo of intense feedback, before suddenly dropping with the bass line you have been waiting for. *slomotion* on the b-side is the slow burner of the ep confirmed by the beautiful hook that comes in halfway through the track. rounding off the release comes a remix of slomotion from mora music favourite bobby o donnell. this hypnotic trippy little number raises the bar, taking the track to an intense dance floor high.

mr saag is back for his third release on local talk, *in the box* and this time he went all in. this 12 provides a meaty affair with firm drums, well-treated vocal snippets, organ hooks and the works. the opening track *in the box* uses strong synth stabs to full effect and the marriage of percussive and crunchy rhythms in this track is saag at his best. it is so good we decided to include a drum track of it too! *suddenly i woke up* is basement house with organ hook, afro percussive rhythms and a bassline from the deep depths of detroit.

eduardo de la calle (analog solutions, semantica, non series, mule musiq tokyo, cadenza and more) now runs his new imprint called soul person. the record label has been created to unleashi a new side of eduardo under the new sequential circuits moniker. it shall see the light in a continuing series of references in 2014. its a risky project with hard touches but also melodic and with hook on!

after the very successful foray into split eps, luv shack records continues to explore this concept with luv013. the ep sees upcoming duo space echo make a return after their smash hit -soul power-, while the b-side is conducted by wahlberliner rotciv. -come back home-, the opening track by space echo, is a slowly building but effortlessly captivating piece of hypnotic house music with a raw funk attitude. the gently evolving synth line and the strong vocal hook are the spine of this anthemic track. the seemingly laid back -hangover- just oozes b-movie sleaze and might be space echos little hommage to 60 s lounge music, with an array of distorted guitars and soft pads coming to good use. that is until the synth theme kicks in mid-track and turns the piece into a late night weapon.
