reissue - k-hand, the undisputed -first lady- of detroit house and techno, continues her series of rereleases for some of acacia records most sought after catalog. acacia s reputation as music from a well known place to an unknown destination precedes it with a reach that is once again being expanded upon. originally making its mark in 1993, -not giving up- is a piano chord led number with eccentric disco era falsetto vocals interspersed between a house diva counterpart, all undercut by equally classic rough around the edges low end - touching on hand s influences from the new york golden days. the plastic dream mix is a more sinister springboard of sounds with an urgent energy sure to rip through speaker stacks and leave audiences in shreds. easily its dreamiest incarnation, the disco dream adaptation lends itself to bouncier, filtered grooves and vocal dubs. the ghetto growl of -beat that bitch wit a stick- was and still remains a huge track for k-hand and the label. pulling from a sound that originated in chicago, it became equally prominent in detroit through the work of hand and others. its accompanied here by an instrumental version for those that don t share in the street logic, but nonetheless love the gritty production style. finally, the legendary claude young s mix of - deep down 2- sees him implementing wavering chords and loopy vocals with a purposefully loose nyc stutter

repress 2021, ricardo villalobos returns on raum musik with his second solo single for our label. this time time both sides are featuring other artists though. the a side is based on a sample, taken from the track called * buffalo demon* which is from the album * miniatures* by the duo alog, that was originally released on rune grammofon in 2005. on the b side ricardo is featuring his friend jorge gonzalez, the former lead singer, main songwriter and sole composer of the chilean band los prisioneros that is currently the frontman of los updates. the result is a very nice ep and we are quite happy with this release.

iperborea (in english hyperborea) is a legendary land, home of the also mythical people of the hyperboreans. in the myths of greek religion, the hyperboreans were a people who lived in a distant land to the north of greece. this region was a perfect country, illuminated by the shining sun for six months of the year. the ep opens with the track -nuda veritas-, characterized by sound textures that recall an aquatic and evanescent environment, giving the track a charge of mystery and the unknown. then the journey goes to -iperborea-, which gives the album its title, there are strong references to the power of the sun and the mythical people of the hyperboreans. the first is given by the constant presence of a modulated niose that simulates the solar wind, that is a flow of particles emitted by the sun. on the other hand, the reference to the mythical people is made through a pressing and epic groove, and by the contrast of these two elements with a pad/stab synth that transits in the middle of the track. the latter outlines a dreamlike and suspended atmosphere that praises this distant and legendary land that was iperborea (hyperborea). among with these original tracks, the ep also containes remixes by scope and laertes. laertes’ rexmis is focused on soft and gentle mysterious mood while scope’s one is more focused on mysterious but powerful which makes audience imagine somewhat aspects of a destructive god. together they are making a perfect pair match for this ep>

gut ding will weile haben – und reichlich wumms am besten gleich noch mit dazu. zumindest dann, wenn es sich mal wieder um neue tracks aus dem engsten kreis der monkey maffia handelt. ganze vier jahre ist es inzwischen her, dass uns von dort aus der vorerst letzte teil des monkey maffia music club erreichte, eine 12inchinch voll funky-garstiger biester für die besten dancefloors dieser welt. zwischendurch erschien ein remix hier und ein track dort, doch nun gibts endlich wieder monkey maffia satt. und das nunmehr 75. release auf freude am tanzen gleich noch mit dazu! der soundtrack zu diesem feierlichen anlass kommt von monkey maffia höchstselbst. stichwort wumms: den bringen seine tracks stets genauso mit zur party wie massig tiefe und funk. denn als routinierter dj weiß der mann einfach, was eine lange nacht alles braucht hier wird die gerade bassdrum gebrochen, dort mit endlos warmen synths unterfüttert. in einem track klappern uns bass und percussion die sorgen aus dem leib, im nächsten flirren die pads und vocals sehnsüchtig um die wette. was auch immer passiert, langweilig wird’s auf dieser wie jener weltlichen erdscheibe mit sicherheit nicht.

davide disanto is an amazing italian producer born in bari, after multiple releases on excellent labels such as let s play house, politics of dancing or even theory of swing, he delivers us a fabulous 12 inch which borrows as much from the heyday of the purest new-york city 90s deep house as well as the purest techno made in detroit. the 1st track from this ep seems to have come straight from an imaginary collaboration between boo williams & ron trent, the violence of the rhythm is counterbalanced by some airy & ultra deep pads, the aptly named atmosfear. a banger as we rarely hear today. c mon, let me see on a2 sounds like a modern take on the awesome jerzzey boy. on the b side, da love feeling (main mix) & le (4am underground dub) revisits the 90s once again for our greatest pleasure, particularly the latter seems to have come straight out of a lost mix of the great danny tenaglia. and to end this ep in style, davide allows himself the luxury of summoning the spirit of mbg and all the best italian deep house from the early 90s on the superb lungomare (ambient reprise). essential item !

the 10th release on blkmarket music features payphone, with unicorn system. from the founders of toronto s payphone studios and members of the hypnotic mindscapes crew and record label, the payphone trio make their label debut with 4 hardware-heavy tracks. this elusive 3-member live-act take a functional yet improvisational approach, influenced by years of chasing the wonk during late-night jam sessions. kicking-off the ep is the retro futurism of don e = dark o - a melancholic, chiaroscuro-esque house-meets-techno track harking back to a bygone era of rave. the a2 fool circle shifts gears into the afterhours with an infectious, metallic groove. on the flip, aquatic-deep techno cut sea sex librarian dubs things out with trippy vocals and a booming round baseline. rounding out the ep, get outta 84 conjures cinematic dystopia with deep electro-infused breaks.

as modularz approaches it s 50th release - label owner developer decided to feature a 4 track sampler taken from the new lp by chicago s zachary lubin named -omronicon- this is modularz 49 to be exact and features a wealth of groove based bangers all carrying the same aesthetic and theme through the recordings. it s hard to pin point if this is a hard or deep release so let s say it s entirely both and with good reason - it s also very synth heavy and gains ongoing momentum the more you listen. it s very obvious that modularz puts out excellent techno and this is by far no exception. tip

the piano man of techno, fabrizio rat, is back on involve with four tracks made to expand minds while moving bodies. the vibrant title track opens the ep with sharp cymbals and a synth whose trippyness is underlined by a commanding hypnotic vocal, ordering the crowd to dance till dawn. say word follows up with the same high pace and catches the attention with stabbing, cut off vocals, fast beats and an epic melody. rat’s piano skills take us on a hallucinatory journey with whirring atmospherics driven by the aim of reaching ecstasy on rave runner, before involve records label head regal closes the ep with a remix, delivering what he’s best known for. a slamming straight-forward techno cut with a deep bassline emphasized by rat’s contrasting ethereal melody.

revelation ep is the debut release of australian record label denude, showcasing the latest work of melbourne based artist eddie hale. the title track revelation is both driving and warm - layered percussion lines rise and fall amongst detroit inspired stabs and subtly textured elements creating an infectious and uplifting groove. a2’s surging is both tunnelling and driving - straight into late night / early hours territory - with swirling sounds forming a hypnotizing sonic bath for the body and mind. rounding up the a side with a change of pace, aperture’s syncopated percussion leads us on a peaceful detour through ethereal synthscapes as we follow the round journey of an evolving sound that travels full circle. on the flip, joel mull’s hypno mix of revelations propels the listener with mechanical precision through dizzyingly expansive atmospheres of truly mind melting proportions. closing out the ep is terrace of an elephant, tranquil and reflective synth-work juxtaposed with coloured stabs striking through like comets across the night sky - brings us back down to earth in a contemplative mood.
