new label by mastermind scope. mixup between deep, dreaming, jacking house. the list of involved artist and remixers needs no explanation. a little less than 8 months ago, ric mcclelland & sean grieve launched seven music as an outlet for their own material. in that short space of time, the label has grown dramatically. not only have they released their own material as scope, south west seven and sydney young, but the label has become a home for a wealth of new talent such as sumsuch, chilf, stephen day, replika and giorgio luceri. key players in the scene such as audio soul project, huxley, russ gabriel, ethyl and orlando b have also joined the seven music camp and helped the label continuously build. the label has accomplished a lot in a short space of time and this collection of tracks handpicked from the initial 10 releases is only the 1st chapter for seven music!

following their last 12 inch from nightwave, svetlana industries remain in their eastern european heartland with a long awaited ep from 1000names, the bulgarian production duo who made their debut alongside rustie on the now legendary >beatnicks< ep back in 2007. the >machine city< ep follows 2010s album and ep for black acre, as well as mixing for mary anne hobbs on radio 1 and recommendations in pitchfork. the ep marks a development from 1000names, taking giant steps on from their base in the beats scene towards a new sound, taking influence from giorgio moroder and analogue synth disco to imagine a future both optimistic and dystopian. it is like john carpenter meets hip hop and it is as good as that sounds.

the word genius is not a term we like to use loosely when speaking about our artists but giorgio sancristoforo aka tobor experiment fits the bill. a gifted musician, soft synth designer, found sound pioneer and he still finds time to make forward thinking disco pop for bearfunk as tobor experiment >disco experience<.

wild rumpus is bitches brew head honcho colleen cosmo murphy (cosmodelica / classic album sundays) and former captain beefheart axeman and jeff buckley collaborator gary lucas. with wild rumpus they bring together seemingly contradictory sounds such as disco, rock, surf music, blues, dub and country while enlisting some extraordinary talent along the way. his latest effort is the most indulgent wild rumpus song yet and is somewhat of a cross between ashra temple and giorgio moroder clocking in at an epic 12 minutes. the remix is courtesy of mudd and has balearic classic written all over it. the single also includes an instrumental version of >tikkety-boo< which is a preview to the vocal version with lambchops kurt wagner which will be featured on the album.

the wonder boys from denmark are back on the game after remixing djn projects music. here comes the next strike to their pocket a fantastic production with an incredibly funky driven guitar groove and a robotic vocoder break that makes this record an explosive mixture of the 80s giorgio moroder feeling.

boys and diamonds is unmistakably a pop album but also one that comfortably fits in with kompakts long-standing lineage of genre-refracting releases. you will be hard up find another record that cohesively brings to mind siouxsie rubbing elbows with shabba ranks, giorgio moroder sipping daiquiris in bali, desmond dekker envisioned through skittering footwork, tom tom club sitting in with congotronics, even early madonna produced by chris and cosey. unlikely as all of that sounds, rainbow arabia makes it sound easy. mostly recorded at their home studio in echo park, muppet palace, boys and diamonds was written and produced by the couple with help from their friends in los angeles and beyond. drummer/producer extraordinaire butchy fuego (pit er pat, boredoms, mia) contributes arrangements and beats in places, and icy demons dylan ryan plays on the percussion-heavy island shuffle nothin gonna be undone . the album was mixed at the wonderful hobby shop studios in la by mudrock, who also adds some final production touches on the record. the 11 new songs on the album, were also made possible by the encouragement of peers/heroes in la like former ghosts, fool s gold, secret circuit, abe vigoda, and part time punks dj crew. outside of their hometown, they also found support and inspiration from kindred spirits like pictureplane, spoek mathambo, as well as their new home, the ever-illustrious kompakt

maybe >grandfathers clock< is the most house influenced release from the german duo piemont so far. going more deep dirty and housy this time... they turn towards a more relaxed and slack approach. chopping up bits of vocals and sounds, tight and funky, this is what piemont is all about. >running mirror< refers to giorgio moroder respectively hi energy influences and is a hypnotic cool groove monster that will convert spaces into soulful places. frederic and christian have released a good dozen of records now and have been very successful. with >peak time tracks< such as >carbonat< being played by the whole lot of ibiza djs and big names around the world. >running mirror< definitely manifests a turning point in their musical spectrum... to deeper grounds of electronic dance and will get other djs involved in their manifold world of music.

ilya santana originates from the canary islands (spain). he started to discover his passion for music 20 years ago, while his father was listening to alan parson, vangelis and giorgio moroder amongst others. 15 years ago he started dj ing around all the clubs in gran canaria. not long after that he started producing his own stuff. his first release was on balihu, daniel wang s label. in the meantime he also released records on tirk, permanent vacation and gomma, and remixed artists like human league, the phenomenal handclap band, lindstrom... now we are proud to announce ilya s first release on eskimo, burning jupiter. it s the predecessor to his artist album coming up later in 2010 and showcases perfectly exactly why we wanted him so much to join the eskimo family

giorgio gigli is an italian minimal-trance maestro, an incredibly modern renaissance man who is also a trained sommelier.** he is rising in the ranks and catching up in profile to his occasional production partner, donato dozzy. hopefully we will have more of his tracks on turbo soon.

hobo is a fellow canadian best known for his excellent work on m¦nus. rumor has it, he borrowed richies quad-macro template file to finish the final version of this remix... whatever he did, his second effort came up huge, this mix is excellent.

kebacid is the production alias for turbo all-stars jesper dahlbäck and jori hulkkonen. their previous releases on jespers defunct blank ltd are some of the best acid tracks of the decade. this is a monster that ought to keep all the die-hard turbo fans happy.

altair nouveau consists of one brandon mitchell, a young producer from the west coast currently residing in san francisco. altair nouveaus music, though designed with the dance floor in mind, still evokes a personal element. it is the combination of these elements that give altair nouveau his indistinguishable larger than life, spaced-out future disco sound sure to cause a dance floor frenzy. raised in the sprawling city of san jose, california to musical parents. mitchell grew up with the encouragement of his father, an electronic music teacher at the local community college. brandon began educating himself by collecting albums from the likes of giorgio moroder, vangelis, ennio morricone and john carpenter. this gave way to newer acts such as in flagranti, prins thomas, lindstrom and several artists on dfa. the title track æspace fortress marks a bold and exciting introduction into the sonic landscape of mr. nouveau, combining g funk, p funk and a 4/4 disco foundation that adds up to something otherworldly altogether. released as a joint effort with the uber-hip dfa records this 12 features mixes exclusive to this release from ultra-talented irishman john daly who turns out a deeper take while michel morins criminally underrated nom-de-plume sneak-thief takes it deeper into spacey disco-funk territory.

like many of us over here at bear towers, giorgio sancristoforo aka tobor disco experience has an unhealthy interest in the 1970s - the instruments of bob moog, vocoders, alan parsons - the cult sci fi series space 1999 - and here hes used the decade as a sonic palette to create the kind of ep that gets the whole office (ie: both of us, on pcs at home, occasionally) sitting up and listening. opener disco moog has already been used on our rools for rules compilation earlier this year and had many beards twitching at the prospect of forthcoming vinyl. shooting star is a more uptempo affair with blissful chords, slap bass, disco handclaps and gios trademark vocoder. i feel loved is a personal favourite of stevie kotey with anthem written all over it. this awesome clavinet workout has such a good vibe about it you cant help feeling nothing but loved. it could easy be mistaken for alan hawkshaw super rare bruton library track.
