last years on the corner underground smash release, the 12inch ep santuris embaire umeme, introduced uganda’s mugwisa international xylophone group (m.i.x.g) to the world. the recordings center on the embaire, a giant xylophone native to ugandan folk music, which is dug into a pit for a natural, earthy bass resonance as gargantuous as the instrument itself. the instrument performs a key role in village life, with ceremonial playing sessions lasting for hours on end. these recordings may be esoteric in nature but they add important context to the santuri’s embaire umeme 12inch and are a vital documentation of the iganga village’s culture, as well as that of uganda. jones has artfully chopped the epic session into a series of short evocative chapters to create a pioneering masterpiece. remix duties are led by griot house innovators, the diabolcal liberties, who have raved-up some sun ra frequencies for the cosmic junglist crew. last but never least, victoria topping has created beautiful artwork using the session photography taken by jones during the recordings

the latest ep on tresor records comes from reduction luminary terrence dixon. detroit’s most puzzling genius debuted on the label in 2000 with his first ever full length work – from the far future. it took over a decade for its sequel to follow – from the far future pt.2 released in 2012 to great public acclaim. this year, terrence dixon prepared a matchless four track ep, going ever further in his very own tenor of collided electronics and mesmerizing tones. words can simply not describe.

off the leash is the cry of morphed pack animals from a ufo crash site. it’s radiated saliva dripped onto cold machinery burning through circuit boards. .the first transmission morphs from cyborg electro to broken down party frequencies. it’s conspiracy meetings caught on short wave radio. the b side hits it harder, rolling tough with some nasty b-boy party electro and a euphoric hardcore cut complete with acid lines swooping in like winged beast. a fitting soundtrack to a midnight cruise across the landfill dunes as mutants creep into your backyard as the bros sink into the dunes.

new york collective sheik ’n’ beik follow up a slew of lauded 12 inchs from japans keita sano, legowelt & xosar and their previous effort from hermans with the richly emotive return of voiski. with a back catalogue of considerable depth - one that’s touched the likes of l.i.e.s and delsin, dekmantel’s ‘ufo’ series - voiski’s latest offering carries with it a trademark degree of bite whilst remaining balanced with the sort of moody melodicism that fans both old and new will relish. ‘5th dolphin transmission’ kicks things off with a tense sequence tumbling through granular drums and a staggered, luminescent synth line. ‘let down disco’ then dims the lights slightly with soft, buoyant melodies and flickering high frequencies that round off a nicely varied release and another solid addition to the sheik n beik catalogue.

nice price deal !!! meteorythm recordings is back with a new file, mf002 geometry of the mind ep by imprint’s co-founder, clearvision. to start, the a side about uncertainty (and unity)’ leaves you doubtful, in a disoriented feeling of expectation. perfect to start your set or a personal journey inward, this ambient track allows you to create your own thinking pattern about what will follow. the a2 ‘geometry of the mind,’ an atmospheric and melancholic track, conveys clearvision’s thought processes by playing with floating pads on deep bass frequencies. on the b side, ‘wave function’ is the logical continuation of the two last tracks, concentrating on rhythm in order to be more focused on the body than the mind. to conclude, the berlin based duet arcarsenal followed suit, evolving ‘wave function to another level of groove by adding a beautiful percussions harmony to a perfectly rearranged production. after developing their musical personality on imprints such as underground quality, finest hour, rue de plaisance, finale session and of course their own bass cadet records, the duo perfectly found how to combine their own style with the space atmosphere that surrounds meteorythm.

brendon moeller returns to third ear after some years, following up his lauded jazz junk safari trilogy of eps with 4 peak time bombs. all 4 tracks blow up the dance floor. brendon moeller known for his sound design, has taken his sonics to extremes on all four tracks, pushing, twisting and teasing frequencies to the limit. the bass on all tracks is phenomenal. it s just as well that a master engineer like pole has mastered these tracks, maxing out the sound yet protecting the sound systems that these bombs will be played on. super fun.

the fine folks at moton, that will be diesel and jarvis, hook us up with something a little special this summer, slimming their usual 12- format down into superb colored 7 inches of edit delights... sister to sister does its thang with plenty of soul and sass, blowing our minds with far out funk, and full on frequencies. last but not least, diesel and jarvis go beachcombing with the blue eyed boogie off flipping it over we are the sunset, is a jazzed out, funked up cut ripe for early hours or end of night play.

starting with the melting frequencies of underground persistent, acid is in control. like an emmanuel top and kosmik messenger track if they d ever collaborated, this combines swingy 808 drums and masterful detroit strings to a searing acid-line that keeps going and going.

the singular threads of the musical fabric that is barrio weedwagon are too numerous and long to trace the beginnings. however, the story does indeed have a start. the spark first took flame on a dance floor deep in the heliopolis favela of são paulo, brazil. after this initial shared out of body experience about 2012, barrio weedwagon can best summed up in these words: emerging from a black hole in the center of the milky way galaxy, the beings who would claim the name barrio weedwagon were awakened. the steady stream of organized radio frequencies from earth became a soothing and yet tantalizing lullaby for our heroes.

stanley anscorm has finished the follow-up to battle beyond the sun. you can expect two epic tracks on this nearly 30 minutes record. although the tracks are based on identical compositional material, they shine in very different color. the black side is of high density and impresses with remarkable bass figures which seems to grow on the fundamental principles of low frequencies. these figures are easily carrying loads of percussions and even an orchestral set of horns which does not seem to be from this world. the white side can be understand as a lighter interpretation of the same topic and it is thrill of its own to discover the intersections between the two tracks. sure, this music is nothing you listen to in an elevator - stanleys art demands attention, there is no doubt about this - but the reward you get if you listen or dance to it with an open heart is of a kind you might never come in contact with somewhere else.
