koehler returns to berceuse heroique with his third release for the label. contra blood invokes the spirit of early no u turn records, infusing some techno dynamics, creating a very interesting anthem for people who don’t care about boundaries in dance music. flammarion breach combines his classic ‘ardcore techno sound with a repetitive arpeggio that recalls the tension of some of the best film scores by john carpenter. with rotating rupees, koehler delivers another beautiful ambient tune and this time its his ode to zelda.

francesco tristano really needs no introduction lately, his music speaks volumes and his reputation precedes him with that said we are happy to share place on lafayette with you once again, this time including some stunning remixes. the first one is a collaboration between two highly respected artists: thomas gandey and radio slave. the two take the track further into tech-house territory with the percussion driving while multiple layers begin the fall into one another, achieving a beautifully elegant and jazzy end result. gutis vision is much deeper, with hints of dub here and there as the artists drives the tension up and creates a stunning groove. the final remix come from tuff city kids, who are known for their sometimes unconventional approach to making music, and in this case, it works. they channel a raw vibe and create something that is quite possibly the furthest thing from the original in terms of percussion. the pianos keep the thread strong, and the rhythm takes care of the rest.

miami born turntablelist & producer, jesse perez, throws down a booty shaking killer house jam for edibles fourth release. what you say about my momma has been ripping up dancefloors for months since landing in eats everythings hands, so its a welcome release on the label, backed with a deadly remix from truncate. on the original mix, perez grinds out a funky and low-slung groove, its memorable vocal hook looping and chopping from side to side as the raw mpc beats and sub bass weave their magic. truncate brings his no nonsense and direct approach on the remix, carving out a dance mania style drum workout over the cut up vox (think robert armani meets armand van helden). truncate has been a hugely dependable producer for yonks via his trax on his own truncate label as well as mixes for jimmy edgar, shlomi aber and kink, and he does not disappoint here. perez wraps up the ep with boogie down brown, another slab of funk laden house goodness, blending high tension strings and rolling drums to great effect. perez has been firing out infectious house jams for labels like bpitch, dj sneaks im a house gangster and hot creations, for some time now, as well as working his own label mr. nice guy, so its a welcome addition to the edible roster for jesse perez

roman poncet returns to figure with another batch of deadly efficient tools featuring four productions in his stripped-back signature style. opener vicious sets the stage with a snappy and muscular breakbeat holding the rhythm down tightly until creeping synths reveal the track’s true, eery intentions. marguerite is more welcoming, with gentle percussion and dubbed out chords making for a loop that could go on forever. the b-side is another example of skillfully sculpting sounds both lean and powerful. on atome i ricocheting synth echoes and fine layers of percussion sway back and forth until they collapse into an extended atmospheric breakdown. starting out reduced to its very nucleus, the second version slowly lets an electrifying tension fill the blank spaces. comprising a set of bare-bone grooves as slick as they are powerfully moving, roman poncet delivers another ep in true figure fashion that is sure to stay in the bag for a long time.

embracing disco, techno and house music in all its declinations, what ever not introduces now british artist reformed society, project started by house producer harsh puri as a consequence of djing and collecting records since 1998, debuting with a four track old school house ep, optimistic chaos coherently fitting with the italian imprint philosophy. ‘hope’ has that solar, yet dusty groove folding distorted rhythmics and joyful pads around an insistent lead dubby pattern and shimmering synths. ‘optimistic chaos’ is again smooth but lightly gloomy, until a pause intoxicates one’s body and mind filling them with inebriating ambients. ‘incognito’ delivers a deep driving atmosphere here, featuring dogged, crisp drums together with minimalist, yet momentary cosmic motives. for the closing cut ‘detracid’, the artist cooks up a brew of acid lines with the usual charming synths and vivid hats, building a light sense of tension fired up by the warm, heady sound scapes. each track is similar to the last, stiffening the musical timbre of the label, confirming the producer’s strong artistic identity as a consequence.

berlin experimental techno duo these hidden hands recently teamed up with lucrecia dalt for a 12&#8243,, on hidden hundred, these moments dismantled. the abstract sonic terrain plotted in the eponymous first track finds its logical conclusion on the b-side, where tension and release oscillate in a harrowing groove. the artwork, created by jesse draxler, adds another layer of apocalypticism to the package. repress !! having wowed critics and crate-diggers alike with 2012s acclaimed magik cyrkles compilation, psychemagik are now ready to unleash the follow-up, magik sunrise. bristling with psychedelic, cosmic and curiously balearic oddities hand-picked from the depths of their vast record collections, magik sunrise is, if anything, even more inspired that its predecessor.
given that magik cyrkles was widely considered to be one of the best compilations of 2012, that is some feat. that collection garnered praise across the board, appearing in the end-of-year charts of rough trade, juno and piccadilly records. as if that wasnt enough, dj magazine also described it as f***ing great! for magik sunrise, the kent-based duo has dug even deeper into the dusty corners of their record vault, deep in the cosmic forest. the result is another inspired, 15-track collection that gleefully skips between all manner of forgotten gems and little-known nuggets, occasionally stopping to acclaim an otherwise unknown track or artist.

if you ever had been struck by the feeling of letting everything go away, right in the middle of the dance floor and you couldnt explain what was happening to you, then you have to listen to adrian niculae’s atipic 001. side a delivers nine minutes of carefully crafted momentum, adding layer over layer of tension. side b connected at an almost imperceptible level with the first track cuts deep within our electronic souls injecting us waves of rolling techno wearing adrian s obsession for subtle details.

whiskey disco 44 joins the ranks of two label vets, pontchartrain and the silver rider. both have turned in top-selling recent successes on labels like lovedancing, smokecloud records, street edits and of course their respective appearances on whiskey disco. pontchartrain leads the a-side with heavy vocal, percussion and samples with a healthy side of dub. his quality mixing matched with meticulously programmed sampling are up to his usual high standards of work. mystery man, the silver rider adds some sexual tension to the flip in the form of muzik and never stop. two songs steeped in tender loving care

for finitude music s 5th release, label owner marcel heese and alexander kowalski aka d_func. share their visions on thought control. both tracks on the ep harbour the same intent, but each of them approaches it in a different way. d_func. s take revolves around sahko-like bleeps, if you are into early mika vainio or sleeparchive, look no further! but instead of being loopy, it s definitely a builder. its original trance track-like structure is sure to rock many an underground dancefloor. marcel s vision is slower and less straight-forward but creates and maintains a high tension. based on dense a bassline and intricate soundscapes, it builds up slowly, only to explode halfway through. an extra payoff also comes at the very end of a track, its noise/ambient outro making a perfect way to wrap up an amazing party at 8am somewhere deep in the heart of berlin.

ketev is the realm in which berlin based sound artist yair elazar glotman employs his unique ambient technoid soundscapes to explore the balance between darkness and light, fragility and strength, and tension and release. ‘traces of weakness’ follows up the solo contrabass lp ‘Études’ for subtext records, and continues to expand on the themes explored on previous ketev albums for where to now? and opal tapes. ‘traces of weakness’ was recorded at ems stockholm using their buchla modular synth, and processed with reel-to-reel tape manipulations including personal archived field recordings. the sleeve photography comes courtesy of yair’s father, the artist yehoshua shuka glotman.

three impeccable pieces of stripped down, unfeigned tanz trax make out the debut release of esther silex – deejay extraordinaire, colognian woman-about-town and very dear new addition to the studio barnhus family. the gargantuan yet free-flowing bassline of hans, the menacing tension of heinrich and the dawntime anthem oskar are all testaments to esthers unquestionable status as an impassioned powerhouse with enough west german swagger to create timeless music with equal parts simplicity and beauty.

cadenza music opens up its 2016 account with the debut single from swiss producers, rare movement feat. disco channel. cutting their teeth on the dj circuit for many years, and playing alongside such esteemed jocks as seth troxler, ricardo villalobos (who mastered the audio on these tracks), jamie jones and luciano (who ultimately signed this single to cadenza), the guys have crafted a pair of tracks that sit right in the dj sets of the aforementioned company. rare 007 combines tension building synths and a wandering bassline, wrapped up tight in solid drum groove, its hypnotizing tones carving out a most useful club tool. on the flip side, rare 011 digs deeper, with cinematic string sweeps over the sparse and bass heavy kick drum. flashes of vocal refrains and micro percussion fly in and out of the arrangement as the melodic elements give this one a real sense of drama as the track blossoms into life. a very accomplished debut from the guys will no doubt provide a real dancefloor moment in the right setting, and no surprise that villalobos gave these tracks the audio master that they deserve.

goldmin music label founder romain lanteaume alias einka meets detroit minimalism master terrence dixon aka population one for a truly conceptual techno 12-.. terrence dixon is one of our favorite artists and biggest inspiration.. detroitborn artist released his first 12- back in 1994 followed by several quintessential records and 2 epic albums -from the far future- on legendary berlin-based label tresor. terrence is not only a great techno producer who makes subwoofers roar in clubs, he is a man obsessed by a concept, an idea that he s following from the very beginning.. -minimalism- in the reaaaaal sense of the word.. for example, when thousands producers are wondering what s eventually missing in their new track, terrence is rather wondering what s useless, what could be removed and that s definitely what he gets to share on his own -reduction- imprint. after the release of terrence s track -steve austin s mile- on goldmin theme lp, romain got to meet him in detroit during summer 2014. the aim was to make an abstract record that could still be linked to a feeling or a situation.. a1 the edge track is probably a good example as it s designed and built to make you feel like you get closer and closer to the edge while the track is slowly growing until you fall.. can you feel it? :) as for the other tracks, there is also a special idea behind them but we better let you interpret it your way

busted tape heads and lashings of noise, lento whips his limiter to bring dark heavy bespoke rhythms direct and raw from the source. sparse abstract drum work puncturing seductive ghostly vocal cuts and noir-jazz samples, with an evocative tension mark the a-side grooves. while the b-side track mantle of strength takes things closer to the club with an example of just how good his drum craft can be.

lucindo returns for his 2nd release on 3th records which he runs with ascion and d. carbone. alien rebellion enters with atmospheric textures and strings rising from the abyss into a new world of deep tension and emotion. once the dust has settled, we enter full out attack with industrial rhythms, ruffled percussion and acidic lazer beams. the journey continues along paths unknown, dark underlying elements of the alien attack is upon us, insanity and anxiety enter the inner dimensions of the mind. the chase is on and battle commences as we feel the power and the energy of the sonic weaponry. as we make it through the other side we feel cosmic clouds of waveforms encapsulate us, as we make our homeward journey.

london-based producer guy andrews is renowned for creating textural electronic music, combining influences from post-rock, techno, ambient and afrobeat. after releasing on hemlock, hotflush and pennyroyal, scoring for photographer nadav kander, and remixing massive attacks robert del naja, he makes his houndstooth debut with in autumn arm’. on the title track, a simple guitar melody falls melancholically over a bed of synth loops and string ensemble, while snares and thundering drums meld with distortion to heighten the tension. let your shadow decide is the a-sides darker, downbeat counterpart, opening with tremolo strings and a weighty bass-line, while emphatic drums build toward the tracks climax. although seemingly disparate, guys use of wall-of-sound noise and softer strings is skilfully mixed, carried forward by the stark guitar lead.

after contributing a remix for our label in 2011 daniel stefanik now returns to raum with his first solo single under his new moniker dlsk.
the a side * sense of doubt* is a bit more stripped down and melodic, as the b side and also the title track of this release * subterraneans* is more of a jazzy house groove, that simply doesn’t stop rolling and keeps the tension with subtle variations and other nice little gimmicks. as always we truly hope that you enjoy these tracks as much as we do and we are happy to have daniel back on board as for sure he can be called one of germanys top notch producers.

enemy returns with another remix package including efforts from some of our favorite producers at the moment. this collective includes the crafty and credible sound of vril, the legendary steve bicknell, and house musics latest tastemakers mr. tophat and art alfie. getting the remix treatment this time around is dustin zahns 2014 comeback release, >new day rising<. monsieur tophat and his esteemed colleague art alfie surprised us by turning in a very dark and stompy techno rendition of >lost in rapture<. it goes without saying that this one is definitely geared towards the time of the night when things get a little weird. vril follows up with an excellent take on >new day rising< by keeping the tension for nearly three minutes before the reese-like bassline drops in and causes the track to evolve into a groove that demands instant attention. steve bicknell rounds out the package with the peak-time hammer! its relentless, heady, and undoubtedly bicknell! this one has >rave< written all over it.

kyle geiger returns on his home label with a set of tracks designed to recapture the basic function of techno. it s music to sweat to at a party. additionally, this package aims to capture a sense of timelessness through melody interwoven with a pumping breed of techno rhythms. the title track, homecoming, starts with a bottom-heavy percussive workout, then presses forward with an array of slowly filtering brighter synth stabs. the breakdown sees an arpeggiated synth slowly overtake the rhythm of the track just long enough to build tension and bring things back to full speed. the verge is a very stripped back, drum track style cruiser, which builds tension with a rising distorted pulse sound filtering in and out. just as it seems that the back half of the track will carry on as planned, a running melody comes in and changes the direction of the entire track. the verge (beat tool) is identical to the original, but build for those a little shy about slightly more upfront melodies.

anouka started a year ago with her first sets on soundcloud and the response was incredible, building her fan base consistently. her debut ep traveller is released on soso, the label that she runs together with zusammenklang and oliver schories. the ep reflects what anouka always tries to express in her sets: showing that melancholy and happiness are very close together and they can work harmoniously. she recorded the vocals for both tracks by herself, which was challenging yet very rewarding. frequent traveller kicks things off nicely with its melancholic moodiness shining through as we meander effortlessly through berlin inspired melodies, while the sultry vocal sits wonderfully on top adding an extra layer of depth. christopher schwarzwalder is on remix duties, and from the off creates tension as this atmospheric rework subtly growls as it grooves. its sparseness is the key here, as this restrained gem works its magic. liberty is next as it tinkles away, creating a warm glow, and its caressed with its spoken french vocal, creating an air of sophistication. and rounding things off nicely is the midas 104 remix. this mystical touch up takes the energy levels up a notch, but increases the melancholy further and adding an air of just the right amount of wonkiness and quirkiness.

opener equilibrium two from buitendijk is a perfectly streamlined and serene bit of spaced out, hypnotic techno. gentle synth pulses roam about the airwaves, left and right, up and down, as ethereal pads glow behind. it s heady dancing music, whilst liem s contact is also perfectly aimed at both head and heel. it is full of lick synth pulses that bubble and boil as watery droplets and ticking hits also colour the most subliminal groove. closer this is all you need is a more textured, frazzled cut with frosty lines and rickety pads working you into a trance. rich drums and clever bass filtration add dynamics and tension and so like everything else here the end result is hugely captivating.

drumma records presents its second collaboration with romanian duo vinyl speed adjust (vsa). the ep titled the awakening shows us vsas intelligent approach to music, an ideal fit at drumma records where creatively effervescent music is embraced with open arms. the record has 4 tracks. the eponymous the awakening is a special trip between break rhythms, modern jazz and a dreamy perpetual arpeggio. it creates a great mood for artists who want to present something special during their set. a2 is the grind, a very strong and acid track with a powerful evolving bassline that creates perfect suspense. inspired by the 90s, its raw and its analogue, definitely a hot track. monoxide comes with a linear rhythmic pattern and a very deep sub-bass sound fused with trippy synth soundscapes, ideal to put in a mental note during a session. the release is topped off with an amazing remix by the great valentino kanzyani. hes brought his own approach to the grind. the remix is a track with very strong groove and an intelligent evolution that creates small sonic worlds at every turn. valentino knows how to masterfully work a constant crescendo where tension and rest is perfectly resolved and we can feel his approach to techno at its best.

keeping the concept of a tight knit family of artists, up next on sol asylum is the follow up ep for the dilated pupils titled introducing remi. this collective of likeminded artists from the netherlands return to the label with a solid four-track ep that shows their range and diversity as producers. moving full speed ahead we start off with “remi at 21.16” a track that instantly hypnotizes you on the dance floor with its echoing harmonic synths and a complex metallic snare pattern. the track is a slow burner that explodes when the dirty analog kick, swinging bassline, and filtered percussion melt into an atomic fusion. next we take it to the next level with “do” its underwater bubbling percussion, bleeping stabs and eerie synth take us to the far off corners of space with just enough acid to keep our heads down and grooving to the strobe light in a dark room. as we move into fall with “october times” a tightly woven groove and galloping kicks push us into more experimental territory with soaring vintage synths that create tension and finesse at the same time. finally we finishing things off with the esoteric vibes of “suque” this deep and dirty track channels the positive force from another realm, which is the perfect match for the inspiriting concept of sol asylum.

(ahd co-owner together with damian schwartz) and kastil this e.p. centers it s attention towards electro, but continue ahds heritage of giving a twist to those 90s sounds that influenced us so much, from early idm to detroit, all is present here. the opening track is the one that gives the ep it s name, an acid stomper build around an electro beat that builds up and down fiercely. the track maintains its tension throughout its whole length by building strings and arpeggios over its acid sequence, never transferring its beat to a straight kick, capturing the attention since its first second. proposed playground is build around a more steady electro beat, strings and sounds merge themselves around the beat to create a beautifully hypnotic piece where where some background melodies tickle our ears bringing memories from idm golden years. zero one is closing track, without leaving the electro rhythms the defined the whole ep the track is build around a phrenetic synth sequence that sets the path for the whole length, rhythms are rough and strong and its syncopated hitting adds emphasis on that frenzy atmosphere since its first second till the last.
