like many electronic artists, ryan lee west aka rival consoles spent his early years experimenting with idm, glitch and dance, but one consistent element in his musical journey has been his desire to create a more organic, humanised sound. through these experimentations he has found a process of producing electronic music that feels close to this urge. west engages his hands directly with instruments and is very selective about what he then records into the computer. he reduces musical parts even further, leaving enough space around the sound for it to breath.
odyssey is a reflection of west’s quest to create atmosphere and space from minimal arrangements. ‘i don’t like music to sound overly laboured, so i restrict how much is going on. i’m kind of obsessed with the idea of reduction.’ this 5-track ep was mastered by naweed.

we have decided to publish these tracks as our first release because they took inspiration from the two words label name: eleusína and recreations. thinking about that ancient mysteries and hoping they could survive till nowadays and in the future as a aid of our poor life helped us a lot in composing these tracks.
the two track ep was compost almost interely by machines with a little computer aid. cause we are only humans and conditioned by our fears and weaknesses, we have decided to make them almost mono tracks to maximize the transfer achievement to vinyl. have we took the wrong way? we do not know, but we keep some time to reflect about that and find the best balance between stereo and mono that fits our soul.

dojo is about getting back to the roots of american techno and house, and getting away from the computer. we want to help bring back the spontaneity and freedom of live performance and recordings. we want to celebrate the raw physicality of the music, and the dj who still likes to mix. ross since, 1997, ross has been in the background of the westcoast canadian techno scene, particularly the victoria family that included mathew jonson, cobblestone jazz, the mole, and hrdvsion. in 1998, he released the now out-of-print compilation album ôgarden city dubs, that featured first material by mathew jonson, and cobblestone jazz. he left for california in æ98, but kept his finger on the pulse as the art director for itiswhatitis recordings. while in the bay area, he listened mostly to soul,rap and early american techno music. heavily influenced by his time spent in the u.s., he started to develop a musical aesthetic, which he is now ready to express. young florent florent moved to vancouver from switzerland to attend art school. he began to get into making techno. tapping into his french-martinique roots, florent quickly developed a unique sound, which caught rossÆs ear. a few live jams later, it was clear that they worked well together, so they got a studio space and got to work. one month later, dojo had its first release. florent has only been making music for a year, but his swiss work-ethic is dangerous

after internationally acknowledged releases on philpot and buzzin fly, here today surprise us with their first ep on 33rpm records. here today (florian schirmacher & engin oeztuerk) shape computer based soulful electronic athmospheres! focused on house music but always willing to experiment with various well integrated influences, styles and sounds. engin oeztuerk and florian schirmacher share the musical affection for marvin gaye, the meters, theo parrish, basic channel, eric b. & rakim and alexander skrjabin. as a member of the band faruk green engin oeztuerk already released records on copasetik and 33rpm records. florian schirmacher has been releasing music on labels such as cadenza, cocoon, morris audio to name but a few. he is also part of the electronic house music duos glowing glisses (pokerflat) and federleicht (connaisseur). on the comrades ep, these two musicians team up with benjamin wild. benjamin wild produced ambient music in the early nineties. since the mid-90s his focus has been turning to dance music. you might know some recordings he did for kompakt, perlon, morris audio, force tracks and many other labels. let them out and enjoy!

boxcutters work, due to its bass-led and rhythmically 2 step nature, is often categorised as dubstep, although in style and idiosyncracies has more in common with idm artists such as squarepusher and ? ziq. together with kinnego flux the belfast based band/ensemble. funk and soul music with electronics using instruments, vocals, computers and hardware synths and modules.

rockford inc. is sullivan sawyer and dwight jenkins who put their souls into their computer and see what comes back out. in this case, its >like a rock<, a contemplative slow-burner that spreads itself over 11 minutes. on the b-side, >minas theme< is an uplifting melodic house tune, drenched in optimism, the ideal antidote for dreary dancefloors.

peter introduces himself like this, >ive started making music with an oric-1 home computer in the middle of the 80ties, later the commodore amiga was the flagship and then....the casio fz1 and now i use the galaxy of software and the korg mx1, roland tr727, roland jx8p, korg ms20, yamaha tg33, yamaha dx7 so i guess that it makes things clear, peter is one of these producers that uses older analogue machines along more recent software gears. and you can sure hear it in its productions, it sounds huge, powerful while style wise keeping things on to the soul filled part of the dance floor. peter delights us here with two stunning tracks that contain modern beats structures echoing rather old school house patterns and hooks. as always with peters incredible music, originality, surprises and ingeniosity are 100% at the rendezvous

thom yorke is the pen, voice and soul of the rock group radiohead he has just released a solo album the eraser and that is where this story begins. abandoning his guitar get-along gang for the cold warmth of his computer and underhyping an album that should be plastering the walls and buses of your local city, the anxiety ridden and morose yorke cuts to the core of the dark state of humanity, unapologetically commenting on the zombies that were once humans. on this extremely limited 12,the album title track the eraser( already big with timmy regisford ) gets remixed in a distorted detroit style by slow to speak, following up on the recent bjork, u2 & arc gospel choir reworkings. on the flip is various acapellas of thom speaking on the current state of society and commerce and the radiohead song climbing up the walls, which in some strange dysfunctional way is married lyrically to the eraser. comes in a hand made silk screened jacket

nach drei alben auf kompakt, zuletzt signs under test- im jahr 2015, kehrt der us-amerikanische house- und techno-produzent john tejada mit dem elf-tracker dead start program zum kšlner label zurŸck. eine reise, die das spektrum von johns stilen umfasst - von seinen charakteristischen soul-techno-melodien bis hin zu den hypnotischen mustern seiner trance-electro-hybride. ob solo oder durch seine vielzahl von kollaborationen tejada beschŠftigt sich mit allen elementen innerhalb und au§erhalb der club-umgebung. sei es auf seinem (44.) fabric mix, als schlagzeuger mit der detroit legende daniel bell als dbx, mit tin man auf acid test oder mit dem selbsternannten desinformator reggie watts als wajatta. vom arrhythmischen maschinenspuk des openers autoseek Ÿber den hŠmmernden puls von hypochondriac und dem schwerlidrigen breakbeat von sleep spindle zur kosmische infundierten vibration von telemetry, der lebendigen traegheit von loss und clubbigen winde von duty cycle und heal bahnt sich john auf dead start program seinen weg durch genres und tempi mit optimalem chamaeleon-effekt. das artwork, basierend auf einem bild von mark richards, wurde von johns langjŠhrigem freund juan mendez aka silent servant, ein ebenfalls wichtiger mitwirkender der los angeles szene, designed. der titel dead start program bezieht sich hierbei auf das analoge start-up-programm eines alten cdc 6600 computers aus einem toten anfang zu booten. dies lŠdt in johns eigenen worten metaphorisch dazu ein, einen neustart von den herausforderungen, die das leben mit sich bringt zu beginnen.

an unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with beautiful reshapes by cv313 (recorded and reshaped from 2007-2016) this is where the sound of cv313 was realized, culled from cassette tapes recorded live (1995-2000) with nothing but analog/digital hardware, no computer in sight (excluding our commodore 64 midi sequencer, which is still alive and well today). the radius project has been absent since the final release in 2001, the first 12- appearing in 1996 (limited white label run of 100 copies pressed at acme pressing in canada) after revisiting these works we realized there was truly some magic here. this project was initially sent to rod modell & mike schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001. they were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to octal records for release, sadly, that didn t materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. we ve spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. (that is of course, if you can get past the tape hiss) we ve had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life, it s been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting these masters.
