rfsplit is a new series, a collaboration between crf and a guest label with two different artists. for the first release, we choose clft, the french label based in lyon.on the a side we ask birth of frequency to do two tracks, the scar and the fink, two hypnotic and abstract tunes, with a dry and claustrophobic atmosphere.clft choose 2030 on the b side with life’s lake and fallen-in, very detroit influenced with light pads and melodies.

2015 looks to be delta funktionen s year. following the terrifically dark and deep wasteland series comes -a new planet-. a cold electro beat is the bedrock from which a corrupting and corrosive 303 coil grows. but even with this caustic foundation, moments of salvation are to be found. a second techno moon dawns midway, frostier percussion giving way to warmer rhythms. full and flowing bars fall and rise behind the squawk, allowing a new and brighter element to bloom. a track that is at once atmospheric and club centric from an artist at the top of his game. this will be released as a limited single sided 12- vinyl with a silkscreen print on the b side.

mannequin records is elated to present a selection of the killer “zombie holocaust” soundtrack by nico fidenco, remixed by mannequin records boss alessandro adriani on the b side. zombie holocaust movie is another slice of italian zombie craziness for the late 70s/early 1980s. the film, released in 1979, was directed by marino girolami, and starred italian zombie favorite ian mcculloch.

* kickin in*, an epic 12-minute journey through disco, that patrick cowley recorded in 1978. the song encapsulates the hi-nrg dance music that patrick became known for. it was an * up* sound for the gay disco scene, music that would compliment and sometimes enhance all night dancing. on the flip are two earlier songs produced between 1975-77 featuring basslines by college classmate and studio mate maurice tani. both songs feature patrick narrating erotic gay sex fantasies inspired by san franciscos leather bars, back rooms and bathhouses. these songs show the sleazy side of cowleys slow burning, oozing electronic creations

last spotted together on the cut some three years ago with their eponymous debut lp, the crew like kaidi tatham, akwasi mensah, matt lord, and dego ‘ranks’ mcfarlane reunite for this fresh 2000black 12&#8243,,,,,. off the christmas card list is apparently a precursor to a second album from the quartet and it’s the last 12&#8243,,,,, in a fine year for 2000black that saw the killer dego lp as the centrepiece. the a-side is dedicated to the title cut, an endlessly slinky boogie number that really showcases the collective musicality of this crew, whilst the b-side is split between “hurry whilst they are away” and “fila high”. the former is bugged out beat down west london-style, and the latter a killer latin-flecked cut.

the vinyl factory has teamed up with french label zone for another rugged techno four tracker, this time from close associate and well established production talent maelstrom. though his name suggests total chaos, maelstroms music belies intention, focus and precision. often marked as exciting newcomer to french techno, maelstrom has actually been making music for over fifteen years. with a cryptic history of aliases and side projects, illegal raves thrown in warehouses and fields and basements, the artist has really come into his own under this moniker. the optics ep showcases metallic techno, acid house, industrial noise and stark ambient sounds, forging smokey machine music for those with a penchant for post punk and a soft spot for the spikier end of the techno spectrum.

finally available on wax, cv313 s classic -lost sequence- culled from the celebrated japan exclusive -live- double cd album released back in 2009. this was lovingly remastered by bazza @ alchemy mastering in london, paying close attention to every finite detail. this master has never sounded so good. on the b side there s a rare live version performed by intrusion at a loft event put on by the good folks over @ little white earbuds. this rare recording was reduced and stripped down, core traces of the original swim inside oceanic bass, and modulating frequencies creating an atmosphere all of its own. this is one for the heads.

herva is the artist name of hervè atsè corti. he lives in relative seclusion from the dance music world in the italian countryside around florence and is one of the most intriguing producers to work in house and techno for a while. his early musical life as a drummer, plus his extra-musical interests in engineering and electronics has informed a unique, freeform, and very tactile approach to dance music. its house and techno that doesnt adhere to the usual influences of detroit, chicago or berlin.

the imogen label launched back in september with a pair of ilija rudman remixes of london acid jazz favourite brand new heavies. this second release sees them change tack somewhat, adopting an archival focus to dig out two tracks by croatian hero ilan kabiljo. known mostly for his 90s work, kabiljo comes from legendary croatian music stock - his father was composer and musician alfons alfi kabiljo. this expression 12inch sees imogen dig through the ilan archives for two rare and unreleased tracks records in 1990, with a side cut cool nights a supple midnight saunter through jazz funk that highlights kabiljo s compositional class. golden days is just as good as sounds like a loving homage to the 80s.

limited to 250 copies.spain s alex font inaugurates his new acme imprint. on the a side, sound on canvas is deep and percussive minimal house with a rolling bassline and trippy sound design that is typically suited to awkward and paranoid afterhours shenanigans. the rhythm gets up more on the deep house tip, still keeping the exotic wooden percussion grooves with organ stabs and dreamy, swirling keys that fans of the mountain people or agnes and quarion will appreciate. on the flip into the flux is a sweaty, peak time people mover, using the same reliable elements like on the other side but with a swing fuelled groove and a hell of a lot of funk that fans of sascha dive or brothers vibe will no doubt dig.
