german producer and dj boys noize has announced the release of his much-anticipated cover version of adamski and seal’s 1990 rave classic ‘killer’ on 12&#8243, vinyl, via the vinyl factory and boysnoize records. featuring vocalist steven a. clark, the original 12&#8243, version is backed by an instrumental, both of which you can listen to below: as boys noize says: “being a ’90s kid i kind of grew up with this song which later became one of these tunes i’d play out at the end of the night. when i met steven and heard his voice for the first time i immediately thought of that track and the idea of doing a cover version was born. it was initially just for fun but it turned banging and lit the dance floors wherever i’d drop it.” adamski and seal’s original represented something of a breakthrough for both the producer and vocalist, spending four weeks at the top of the uk singles chart in the summer of 1990. speaking to journalist dave simpson in the guardian in 2013 seal explains the impact the song had on his career: “within a week, i went from being a relative nobody – this weird guy at raves, with silver bits in my hair – to a household name.” boys noize’ ‘killer’ is out now on 12&#8243, vinyl, limited to 500 copies.

south of croydon raised christian sibthorpe (aka a1 bassline) sent over a few things over the last 12 months that really had me paying attention. but it was jessica (j. phlip) ended up being the first one to drop falsehood at the spring dirtybird party in sf which pretty much sealed the deal. it just smashed the room to bits. later on i met christian in person when he helped me do a live radio show at rinse fm in london along with ben westbeech and we agreed there that dirtybird would put these two tracks out.a1 claims to have been heavily influenced by early metalheadz and you can really here it on these tunes. while buoyancy is a smooth pulsing affair that really shines in the deeper mixes, falsehood (which we are re-releasing from a1s tighten up label) really buries the hatched in your brain with bits and pieces of 808s, breaks and house hi-hats all forged together like hot iron.

future disco releases the fourth edition of the sort after series and to coincide with the full album release is this limited four track vinyl sampler featuring some of the highlights from the collection >neon nights<. first up is an exclusive track from the revenge. originally created a dj tool for graeme clark aka the revenges dj sets >just be good to mario< is a cleverly produced mash up of the revenges own >just be good to me< featuring the vocals of crazy ps danielle moore, and mario basanovs track >do you remember<. the result is a slow grooving dance floor jam that takes the best bits from two producers at the top of their game. also on the a side, the c90s –shine a light is given the remix treatment by australia outfit flight facilities. the result is a slow tempo song, perfect to start or end the night. on the b side, hannulerauris instrumental >zombie tropicana< gives a firm nod to the 80s with a slow stomping electronic disco work out. finally london duo, tape to tapes >pure & easy< completes the pack. a hand raising house track with soaring breakdown, which demonstrate the breath of the sounds on a future disco collection. all tracks have never appeared on vinyl before and are exclusive to this sampler

maybe >grandfathers clock< is the most house influenced release from the german duo piemont so far. going more deep dirty and housy this time... they turn towards a more relaxed and slack approach. chopping up bits of vocals and sounds, tight and funky, this is what piemont is all about. >running mirror< refers to giorgio moroder respectively hi energy influences and is a hypnotic cool groove monster that will convert spaces into soulful places. frederic and christian have released a good dozen of records now and have been very successful. with >peak time tracks< such as >carbonat< being played by the whole lot of ibiza djs and big names around the world. >running mirror< definitely manifests a turning point in their musical spectrum... to deeper grounds of electronic dance and will get other djs involved in their manifold world of music.

as the third single released in anticipation of scott hansen’s long-awaited full-length as tycho, “coastal brake” may be the best yet—a sweet slice of dream-beat that glides over the ocean surface like a high-speed waverider. “coastal brake”’s vintage synthesizers set the pointillistic scene, blipping and popping around a near-balearic rhythm like melancholy drops in a river, rising and falling and building to a shimmering climax. it’s not quite dance music—more like tycho’s soft-focus take on the escapist beauty of house music. the single’s three remixes do the original ample justice. danish producer (and syntaks collaborator) manual takes “coastal brake” at half-time and shoots it full of feedback, bringing a scorched-earth weight to the proceedings, while hatchback’s “cosmic caviar dub version” turns down the contrast and places the song in a cave full of drugged-out pianos. lusine hacks up “coastal brake” and repurposes the bits for his own stutter-stepping, downbeat funk. listen closely, and you’ll hear shards of “coastal brake” sparkling in between the beats. limited edition (1000 copies) of tychos >coastal brake< on 180 gram vinyl including alternate artwork poster. tycho is the music project of san francisco artist and producer scott hansen. as tycho, hansen blends swirling melodies into vaguely triumphant arcs that crisscross between stuttering beats and vocal samples, creating rolling sonic landscapes that extend into the horizon. known in the design world as iso50, hansen is famed for his bucolic, sun-drenched design style, which serves as a backdrop and mirror for his musical output.

the title of max coopers stochastisch serie ep, refers to his use of stochastic methods, also known as non-deterministic, or random methods of sound generation. stochastic elements referring here mainly to real sounds including vocal experiments and sampled sounds which create a complexity and richness which has been a trademark of many well known traum releases in the past. the london based artist max cooper sees his new 12 inch as a construction of different moods going beyond club music, as witnessed in the past through tracks such as i and end of reason. it is no surprise that dischordance is another one of these timeless pearls alongside these mentioned tracks that have created a fan base worldwide for him. the friction max generates is created by two sides colliding, the synthesised drums and melodies and the random experiments with voice. his dance floor rockers stochastisch serie and mnemonic work in a much more functional way but do include bits of this randomness and therefore are part of the superstructure stochastisch serie. the remix of uk producer leeks is very hip in style and sound and will please a lot of younger djs who love the cool swing and groovyness with music and will find the functionlism here going very strong.

for almost as long as there have been djs, there have been dj tools: bonus beats, acapellas and ambient overlays have long been the stock in trade of selectors interested in more than simple crossfades from outro to intro. but back at the beginning of 2007, luciano put a new twist on a triedand- true idea with no model no tool. the inaugural release on cadenza split composition, a sublabel of the iconic swiss imprint, no model no tool revitalized the recombinant concept, offering djs a selection of readymade miniatures that worked like sonic building blocks—oddly-shaped bits and pieces designed to be stacked and shuffled to the djs delight.

carl craigs creation of angel found its way onto the second installment of darkness, released 2005. observers of carls music declares this era to have been the strongest material since earlier tempered psyche / bfc classics. now reborn by the crafting hands of jerome sydenham and detroit native keith kemp, we enthusiastically introduceà guilty pleasures debut release, carl craig - angel remixes --- jerome sydenham: born and raised in ibadan, nigeria to an english father and jamaican mother, he was schooled in his teens in england before migrating to new york city in the early 80s. sydenhams work today is largely influenced by the cultural diversity of his upbringing and has echoes of a musical history that spans indigenous african and contemporary western music. during the mid 80s he became involved in the underground dance music scene both as a dj and a promoter. in 1986 he threw a successful weekly party in philadelphia and by 1987 he had a residency at the legendary nells in nyc. --- keith kemp: keith kemp has been a dj in and around the detroit area for the last 10 years, primarily focused on fusing fragmented bits of the detroit techno blueprint all over the dance floor. through various residencies, dj sets, and live performances, he has been on a constant personal journey within electronic music ranging from performing at the detroit electronic music festival to movie scores and sound design. since 2001, keith has found himself involved with the operations of the ferrispark record label as well as several releases on various detroit labels reaching all corners of the world. as a life-long connoisseur of music, his dj sets can range from glitch funk, industrial, hip-hop and jungle

under his raudive alias, oliver ho has created a trademark blend of future forward house and techno that has been the sound to some of the greatest moments on our favourite dancefloors over the last couple of months. recently labels like cocoon, drumcode and pokerflat were blessed to release superb pieces by raudive and he created enthusiasm all accross the board from ricardo villalobos to sven väth. for his macro debut he moved a step further: the cone ep with its 3 cuts of twisted house brings some serious madness to the club: raudive’s signature beats get a strong jazz infusion with bits of saxophone and an out-of-control piano spinning around the pumping bassline. crazy all the way while delivering a maximum of dancefloor appeal.

groovebox ep is filled with some class a material for the raunchy dancefloor. first up there is into the club. this track is typical for channel x: it will blow off the roof in the club! as the title of the track already suggests, this is another one of channel xs lengthy journeys into nightlife extravaganzas. a wonderful fidgety bassline and a loop filled with loads of soulful vocal samples from strong male leads to sensitive female souls, this tune is both deep, touchful and destroying. the chainsaw effect session in the middle paves the way for more stomping tech-house business. no time to recover from this, because on the flip its straight onto the floor with wake up: a loop thats made of trillions of little cut-up effects, vocal bits and some straight four to the floor business. after a playful beginning the tune moves into an hypnotic piece of trippy techno only to be converted into a restless party anthem for the Überpeak-time. sick! perhaps there is some time to chill with the last of the three tracks that is against the wall. here it becomes clear what channel x are best at: to create dark, hard and moving electronic music with that special ingredient that is soul. this track is a perfect example: some frightening effects, lots of reverb on the creepy samples, but such a wonderfully harmonic sample that seems to shed light at the end of the never-ending afterhour. if there is a message to this music, it would be: you need to look hard, but there is always love. once again label boss oliver koletzki has picked up these two very talented producers very early upon their career and it has paid off: in one release being better than the one before

daedelus links up with michael johnson for the kind of happy song/sad vocals mash down which alfred darlington learnt from listening to too much brazilian music. this, however, is not bossa. drawing on bits of italian disco, twisted trance, french house and more than a smattering of early 80s english new romanticism its the kind of glorious, upliftingly sad number for which sweet indiscretions were invented. the epic nature of this song is sure to make this a daedelus anthem

stage 6 for the d classics crew...and a sure stike again. back to back re edits from nico (on his own this time), getting back to the rawest side of discofunk. a side opens it with o2 party. nico come up with a kind of mash up, taking best bits from both versions from the original 12inch pressing, fill it with advance thinking efx, and make it into a proper floor burner. cosmic disco funk of highest order we say. b side is called solutions. here we have a total re arrangement from this early 80s slice of pure disco funk, still keeping the original feelgood touch from the original, but with a real modern thinking and great use of efx and tools tweeking in the making of the re edit. if you re not dancing on these two babies... you re probably already dead.

natus n arkus – notably robert natus and arkus p. - both leaders and pioneers of the new hardtechno scene. after individual releases at platforms as highball, definition, artillery, fine audio, bitshift, favourite tools and many more they allied for a track called >hardcore salsa< which became club hit of the year and best sold track 2004. their joint battle live performance is a must-have-seen. the venues they appear at are crowded with fanatic fans and their reputation grows all over the globe. natus recently entered the a&ring doors at compressed and he says the time is ripe for another boneshaker by natus and arkus

breakdance has all the early electro hip hop influences but santos brings a classic sound bang up to date. oldskool drum sounds groove alongside acid bleeps, crunchy synths and squelchy bass. any b boy or b girl will be body popping along to this for sure. its been included on a new elite force compilation for lot 49 due out in november so its looking to be a biggie already. the echobox is a proper twisted club banger that is purely designed for peak time devastation. the tribal groove is crushed to bits as are most of the elements, which is a recipe for intense gritty head twisting.

oliver huntemann already presents the 14th release on his dance electric label. but his release policy is far from being predictable or boring. with jens mahlstedt and andré winter he presents two long time dance music protagonists for the first time united under their real names. both started their careers back in the 90ies, and both delivered stunning production work, before there was ableton live and before there were software plug-ins. these 2 tracks on dance electric prove that they are still ahead of time. these dark and floor-rocking electro trenched tracks are spiced up with bits of melody and incredible arrangements. everybody fasten seat-belts – this is a hell of a comeback...

>get on up< was dj rush s biggest stike so far. with remixes of the best techno producers like eric sneo, thomas p. heckmann, chris liebing and rob acid, t:classixx pushed the track in the clubbers heart. back in the days sven wittekind and robert natus take the tune to other level. on the a side you will find the sven wittekind remix. whose interpretation is a hard, rugged one that seems to be coming alive the longer it lasts. vocal stabs, an enormous dose of hi-hat action and noisy twisters make this one very useful being played at the bigger venues. robert natus is responsible for the second mix of the track on the flipside. the german-based producer delivers a remix in his so characteristic style, as can also be heard on his releases through labels such as systemcalls, planet natus, abstract or bitshift music..
