first part of the dekmantel anniversary series featuring two house tracks from juju & jordash and morphosis! to celebrate dekmantels five year anniversary, the amsterdam based label will release a compilation which features tracks from friends and artists who have performed at the successful dekmantel s parties. in a series of five eps the label presents the genres that they have become know for throughout the netherlands and beyond: quality house and techno in the tradition off all the good that came out of detroit and chicago when it comes to electronic music. both dutch and international producers are featured on this comprehensive compilation. the last part will be released in the last week of march as dekmantel then will celebrate their anniversary with a big party in amsterdam.

norm talley tackles techno. yes, you heard that right… in spite of 3 tracks on the original transmissions that fell a little closer to what the heads would expect from a very reliable source, it was that first one that everyone begged for more of. we must agree that those 3 minutes were just a little of a tease, so here is the full 9-minute extended cut of “man on the moon” that all of you asked for, and what a trip it is! certainly funky broken-beat techno is a new look for norm, but it’s pretty obvious in all 9 of the minutes here that this is a man from detroit making the music he knows best. there’s a groove and a touch here that speaks of soul and experience… although you may find this one in the crates of some of the new school techno elite, it’s safe to say they couldn’t have made it the way norm talley did. even if you remember part one you may be surprised where he takes it, but we’re even more pleased to say that “earth 2 moon” beats it at its own game. this one made our necks snap and heads turn the very first time.

alex and bill met 16 years ago when bill signed one of alex s first productions (is this the rhythm? by rhythmnvibe) to a new york label he was running. alex, whose father lives in the us, was a regular visitor to the states and they sent many happy hours together hanging out at the sound factory bar and comparing maw dubs. when bill returned to the uk in 1996, they had a few sessions together making house music, though neither of them can remember why they never finished anything or, indeed, what became of the tracks. fast forward a few years and they finally got back into the studio to make sweet music together under the moniker hotel motel. since then they have created a rich seam of work that some have already described as, like salvador dali with his pants down being fellated by deirdre barlow. few would disagree.

in the psychedelic late sixties there was a lively music scene in the canterbury area that revolved around the band the wilde flowers. they never recorded much themselves, however, but after they disbanded other influential bands were formed from their ashes: gong, soft machine, and, most importantly, caravan.
caravans eponymous debut was released in 1968. it was considered a groundbreaking album capturing the freakish and exploratory moods of the times. their sound went much further than the changing styles of the contemporary underground and that is what distinguished caravan from other bands in their genre.

one of camel s bandmembers suggested doing an entire album based on a book. a number of books were eligible but the emotional appeal to the snow goose by paul gallico was so strong they started writing and recording a concept album that would portray their vision of the story. the result, the instrumental the snow goose, turned out to be their breakthrough.
