stroboscopic artefacts rip into autumn with a masterful split vinyl. sa006 sees jonas kopp taking to the a-side with the punishingly good >alkitran< and the flip side picks up where the monad series left off with markus suckuts >vary<. >alkitran< writhes hissing and spitting into existence. snares lash across the opening, to be replaced by subaqueous grumbles and whirling from above. the title >alkitran> begs no translation, the tracks sticky, black palette and viscous textures effortlessly communicate the notion of tar. markus suckuts >vary> takes the opposite tact, his dark tones are built amid structures that are suffused with light and dappled with the grindingly ecstatic. this is superbly elegant techno that has refused to sacrifice any of its hardness in order to achieve elegance.

at least since his workshop005 release, he has modulated his way straight in our hearts. unlike other artists, he knows how to let his synthesizers speak and tells us little stories, while always searching for new romanticfrequency ranges. so >my heart< tells us a story, from the in-ear adapter straight into the heart.

to support his just released alien artform album, delsin puts out the 2nd dimension 5 12. this 3 tracker continues where the lp version left us: 3 brand new tracks (only network was released on cd only). this one comes for the dancefloor. it opens with dark city, an haunting, melodic 4-floor techno track with those old skool drum sounds. dope! the b-side holds 2 tracks in the same vein, where music box film-esque, like derrick may used to do, and gradually builds up. network is a more soulful tracks, playing around with some nice synths and reminds of old insync / irdial stuff.

what a perfect definition of minimal techno, differing from all this crap that made minimal suffering over the last months. swen hutmacher aka shi buka and thomas wangorsch know where to set samples, sounds and elements, and italian fellows nihil young and alex d elia deliver some nice personal flavour on the original as you are used from their work for labels like rekluse or their very own frequenza. this is the deal!

sneak previews of elements of both of these new tracks appear on the >structures< lp, where john utilized beats and breakdown fx versions in his mix. now, both tracks are ready to be unleashed in their full glory as an exceptional double-header on bedrock.

at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.
for the first time i decided to give this particular album the unique touch by handmaking all the artwork. every single record has been handstamped both sides, the covers manually printed and put together. all 200 pieces are different and have their own singular identity. now, at the end of june 2010 i can present this big collection of expressions. quagmire ltd is a small platform to release this debutalbum. limited to 200 pieces of triplepack 12 inch including 13 mixes.

lover. fighter. prophet. freak magnet. time-traveler. musician, photographer and designer jimmy edgar is a wayward prodigy streaking across the cosmic dance-floor. in 2001 at the tender of 18, his hyper-sexed microchip stylings caught the ear of warp, where he cranked out his brand of amped-up laptop funk for the next eight years, culminating in the full-length classic >color strip< (2006). now 26, edgar is shaking things up at !k7. on new turf, edgars sonic prowess takes on a leaner, more radio-ready shine and what edgar does essentially and very well is make your body move.

the environmental radiation dose on the moon ep is the first collaboration between zooloft and aconito records. the two labels are twinned in exploring the limits of techno, experimenting with structures and sequences and ultimately arriving at the place where the deep and dark sublimes. the ep opens with the child that was watching the moon a track lifted right out of the drone-techno hymnal. it starts with muddied, subterranean bass and builds not just outwards but inwards. filled with obtuse references and metallic rasps the atmosphere created is obscure and spectral. on the reverse the moon that was watching the child sounds like its been exposed to radiation. the sounds are distorted, as if created from samples of the genome unzipping. the arrangement is stunning, bells filter in and out and the layers smelt into one another. there is awe at work here, but its an awe that remains underpinned by terror. this release, mastered in berlin at the legendary calyx studio, is something of a record collectors dream. it will be released on solid silver vinyl in a very limited edition of just 200 copies. za000ltd should be enjoyed on wax, this wont be available digitally.
