one of figures most prolific artists, a.mochi offers up his first ever ep for figure spc, with 2 especially subterranean and highly charged tracks. mochi, who last year released his outstanding >primordial soup< lp on figure, continues to tread the line between functional club techno, and post-apocalyptic mechanical soundtracks. the well-defined a side burner, >riff< charges along with textured, woody percussion at its heart, and mochis trademark white noise ensemble pushing the high frequencies. a reduced, classically minimalist work, the track relies on just a handful of elements to induce a real fever on the dancefloor. following closely in its footsteps is >sunset<, a deeper cut with hi-tech atmospheres and intricate percussion at its core. metallic synths surge under mochis wall of bass, and the straight-ahead ebb of the sharp hats and claps edge this monster into even darker zones.

edux return from a winter hibernation and summer of partying with some more essential wax. machete savane is their latest signing, aka studio supremo saul richards & andy bainbridge, an integral part on well respected and notoriously raucous party people bad passion andy has perfectly distilled what drives the bad passion dancefloor in the excellent >elysian fields<, and who better to put a unique stamp on the track than their main resident guest felix dickinson. he takes the track into bolder, dubbed out and altogether more acid house territory, while keeping the live elements to the fore. finally mid op amps up the drum machinery, and lays out another corking balearic with balls workout. quality stuff as always.

so you didnt get that last firecracker that came in an incredible sleeve and was limited to 45 copies? well now you and the other 99% of humanity can at least own the music contained within it with this regular re-release, and to be honest although the sleeve isnt hand-weaved by a peruvian tribe centuries known for their mastery of textile craft, the one yer getting here is pretty goddamn sweet. bringing together calypso rhythms and bernie worrell-does-acid lines, fudge fingas >untytled< is an exemplary example of why everyone is in admiration of the geezer, and that is because he can actually make actual music, with compositions and melody and all that. excuse the lofty jargon. linkwood bring equal heat in the form of >secret value<, but guess what? fudge fingas has gone and blessed it with the refreshing audio equivalent of yer girlfriends mint & tea tree shower gel, adding liquid bass and lush keys. the fingas finishes off the e.p with one of his most interesting tracks to date >minus 616<, a dense, immersive piano piece that proves that getting this e.p out to a wider audience was just simply a righteous and necessary move. take that skinny tie off, wrap it round yer arm and mainline that uncut funk, baby.
