the analog music project is a musical act that focus on building a coherent sound stage using only vintage musical instruments. its debut album odyssey features seven original themes, as well as covers from artists such as krafwerk, roy ayres and vangelis.  from electro-bossa to cosmic-swing, the projects revives and reinvents classic genres giving them a modern analog twist. when listening to odyssey, which was developed over two years of hard work, one can hear a fine selection  of exquisite musical instruments.

alex north’s work for ballet, symphony orchestra, television and film continues to stand the test of time almost 25 years after his death. although nominated 15 times for an academy award, it wasn’t until 1986 that he was finally given due recognition when a lifetime achievement oscar was bestowed upon him. but, as this soundtrack lp so amply demonstrates, his pioneering work on streetcar remains one of alex north’s crowning achievements.

felix dickinson and jaime read met in brighton in 1995 when jaime was producing music for felix’s label ugly music. united by a love of chicago house music they held a 5 yr residency together in their hometown brighton. during this time jaime continued to make music for felix’s label as well as on his own label push 2 shove under the moniker lhas (the larry heard appreciation society). they soon found homes for their tracks on doc martin’s wax records, the belgian label eskimo and felix’s new label cynic music. more recently they have released tracks for tsuba and rong as lhas inc. there is a remix by neville watson. you may know him for his work with kink or his releases on clone and creme.

when i was 10 years old my father took me to a flea market in a very small city up north in sweden, pitea. there was a little bit of everything being sold there: ski equipment, comics, porcelain figurines and vinyl. it was there and then i came across autobahn by kraftwerk. the thing is, we didn t have a turntable at the house we stayed in, on those cold winter weeks so i had to wait until we came back home to give the record a proper spin. in my mind i played it several times and i thought it was amazing. i imagined it was music from the future. what i thought when i heard it for real? didn t like it at all. the very same feeling i imagined autobahn would sound like is the one i get after listening to ishi vu s debut on omena. these five tracks, you could call it an album if you like, are playful, quirky, dreamy and very addictive. like finding a new friend you know you want to keep for a very long time.

nice price deal !!! hypnotic lines and machine made sounds and noises are what to expect by petter b on this 8th release on bond. all four tracks were made during one weekend with a simplistic setup. its straight forward techno with sparse arrangement, focusing on the experience of how a melody or a sound can come alive on a dancefloor when played right. the label bond is the brainchild of swedish techno dj and producer petter b. the concept of the label is music by djs for djs. the label focuses on releasing tracks that enable the dj, rather than the producer, to be creative. it is based on that special bond which is created every time a dj combines tracks, loops and sounds live into something new and unique.

schuko ep is the second release from the lyon (france) based label aiia recordings, which without surprise is still speaking about techno. the release is signed by the german duo schutzkontakt, with one member from dualit, who uses violent and reverbering kicks on konter and latenz, completed by a deep and sweet melody on frage, whether by different layers of indus samples. the most relevant feeling by listening this four-track ep is that it brings you between hard and soft moments, but still in a mighty state of mind, thanks to the intensity put by schutzkontakt in schuko ep. even if everything slacken when zyllinder comes with its more groovy and acid rhythms after the two precedent techno-indus tracks.

marc cerrone became the star of incredible live experiences in paris and elsewhere. as if, after having spent the first step of his musical career elaborating his repertoire, he’d chosen to devote the second one to make it live permanently. firstly on stage, then through younger generations: when bob sinclar samples his music or invites him to collaborate, it’s a new way for cerrone to keep his main ability alive: make crowds dance. a talent which most of his younger fans - todd terje, prins thomas, james murphy and a whole generation of cosmic disco lovers - agree to and get inspiration from. from 1976 to 2014, cerrone, whose discography makes so many others jealous, never stopped playing and keeping his beat which he considers vital. and if disco music had to be summarized to one artist, one creator, it would be him and nobody else. this exclusive double lp sounds like a tribute to his prolific discography, containing incredible remixes talented producers. a cd with all tracks is included.

the first years, from his first album in 1976 to his 7th in the middle of the 80’s, were fuelled with an exemplary sense of creativity and a free-spirit vision. against everyones advice, cerrone was never reluctant to compose long and pure trance disco tracks, not exactly radio-friendly at the time, but which did incredibly well because they encapsulated the hedonism of the day and were far more than a trend. for instance, love in c minor and supernature have become unbeatable classics, featured regularly in the best pop, disco or dance selections, such a success would have burnt most of the others wings, whose career would have been ruined. at the beginning of the 80s, when he decided to unleash his creativity on stage, cerrone managed to rebound with you are the one studio album.

broken grooves are almost always present in arapus productions and pitfall is no different. with a trippy synth that goes all the way and effected voices to go along, this track rules the night and the whole a side.
two tracks found their way on the b side and their flavour is quite different. escape is a pure deep house gem, and a clear indication of arapus soulful influence. extremely danceable and super uplifting, this track brings the summer back. wasting on the other hand is dark and has a dirty broken tech groove. this track may seem toolish but it s a monster when it hits.

this new strand release on lowriders, maleza is a very personal take on bass music, juke, west coast hiphop, jamaican music, prepared pianos, old detuned synths, odd time signatures and huge live reverbs. the idea of the record came when i was going through a lot of personal struggle and i was not able to get out of it. in the same period i decided to run in the woods near my home early in the morning. i ran every day, and ran and ran. eventually i got out of my problems. so i left the maleza away. this is a very personal record, each sound has a deep meaning about me and my loved ones. maleza means bad herbs, weeds, undergrowth in spanish.

nutabe still traveling between sounds we like. dijon triathlon is the solo project of jose santamaria, who for the second reference of discos nutabe brings with him the synthetic and diminutive of house music. pandemia its an ep that returns to the early and mid-2000s, when the microhouse takes the worlds dance floor. three beautifully produced sound and impeccable cuts, where each element has a meticulous preparation and a single order. simple sounds that fill a full dijon triathlon style.

marquis hawkes returns with a new ep for houndstooth, sweet. pairing up a sugary r&b sample with his signature swinging but slamming beats, opening cut when i get home is a return to the flavour of last year s summer smash cant find a reason, although this time around, it s more tracky and introspective. next up, a different facet of hawkes production talents is reprised with at the witness stand, a trippy take on classic ny freestyle. opening the b-side, title track sweet furthers hawkes trademark rough and ready house sound with distinctive vocal hooks and a hip-twitching rhythm, whilst bringing up the rear, what a relief is a raw but inescapably funky drum workout that would make the likes of traxmen & eric martin proud.
