subjected, boss of the vault series imprint, makes his warm up debut with his rest one ep. the release includes two original tracks plus a remix by oscar mulero. rest one is based on a cemented beat made of metal hits, fat kicks and abused hi hats. the synthetic sequences, deep sub frequencies and aggressive drones move along the beat changing shape and evolving as the track goes on. shift is the second number, sci-fi arpeggios, subtle kicks, moving percussions and an hypnotic arrangement. oscar mulero reshapes shift by preserving the original arpeggio, adding effects and peppering the track with synth stabs in a constantly changing structure.

with releases and on sci+tec, tronic, trapez, rawthentic etc. frenchman matt sassari already walks on a great path with his style. so amir and butch were even prouder to get the chance to release these three bombs from the man from marseille. stripped down techno at its best.

after releasing with chris moss acid on shipwreck in 2014, drvg cvltvre is now back with a full ep of his own on dutch label cos_mos. since 2009, vincent koreman a.k.a. drvg cvltvre has been churning out his own acid, no wave and experimental house on labels like viewlexx and permanent vacation and now kicks off the new year in style with three more inventive offerings. new earth army is a slow, heavyweight and coarse track with rattling chords, angry percussion and elastic drums that manages to be physical and tough yet groovy and playful at the same time. we have become the filth of the universe is a big, fat, heavy wedge of slow motion techno with monstrous drums and wild acid lines all spraying about wildly for the duration. it’s a warehouse sized track that will reduce the ‘floor to a writhing mess and finally possessed is a sci-fi riddled track with lots of spacey synths, filtered analogue lines and paranoid sirens all making for a turbulent brew of dark and otherworldly energy. once again here drvg cvltvre proves he has a raw sound all his own.

for those turned on by the far-sighted, sci-fi inspired sounds of detroit deep house and techno, this ep from michael zucker s finale underground imprint (an offshoot of his finale sessions label) should be an essential purchase. with the likes of patrice scott, keith worthy and luke hess involved, you d expect the quality threshold to be high. it is, of course, resulting in a quartet of killer tracks. hess hypnotic techno jam -tolox- is a definite highlight, though it pales in comparison to the analogue futurism of keith worthy s brilliant -cyclops-. best of all, though, is scott s -journey into the unknown-, which bobs, weaves, bubbles and spits to the rush-inducing deep house sound of undulating synthesizer melodies and classic, transmat-style motor city rhythm

dj spider & franklin de costa come along with a massive follow-up of their first single on killekill (cat number 016). second bass on the a-side is a bomb of a track with its jazzy beats, otherworldly strings and a bassline straight out of hell. comsume is even more otherworldly with its stumbling, shuffling beat and a spaced-out vocal sample taken from an unnamed sci-fi movies from the 50s. coffee break, the last track of the ep, is a deadlock groove of heavy beats and freaky breaks, that leaves you lost in time and space.

proximas debut album, alpha, released through tempa, follows on from a string of blistering singles for the label, which found the dutch producer carving out a stark and synthetic vision of 140bpm club music. across its eleven tracks, alpha sharpens his already distinctive aesthetic while significantly broadening in scope. it is a manifesto of sorts, centred firmly around his characteristic, titanium-hard dubstep mutations, yet comfortable taking spaced out voyages through melody-soaked electronics, freaked-out sci-fi funk and vocal-led songs.

more than six years into his career after several eps and a full album, there isn’t much known about ben gibson, and he is clearly keeping it that way with intent. gibson first emerged on jeff mills’ experimental, influential 6277 sublabel but then again vanished into the ether, he only reappeared three years later on perc trax, even more surprisingly with a full-length. since then, he’s gone on to steadily more notice with perc’s imprint, sect records, and most recently m_rec ltd in spite of the continuing lack of information. exposure isn’t the most important thing for us at chronicle though, and after hearing these five tracks, we saw exactly what it is that drew mills to him from the beginning. it is a sound that we find a perfect fit for the techno futurism of our chronicle series, and here we offer a platform for gibsons more sci-fi, ethereal sounding material, exclusively on vinyl for the fifth edition of our sublabel.

samuli kemppi may have begun in warm house climes as the duo sam & gigi, but he has since found his niche and fame sound tracking the deep and icy black recesses of space. 2009s komisch debut, deep space helsinki ep, birthed the galactic signature that would come to define his solo techno output for labels like prologue, mote-evolver and perc trax, meanwhile cementing his stylistic meanderings to a single, albeit flexible, narrative. parallax of one second ep is samuli kemppis third outing on m rec ltd, after the full cyclic model ep and remix inclusion on ben gibsons more than milk, and sees the fin plundering the astronomic theme once again with stellar sci-fi precision.

antigone is an artists coming from the depth paris producing and digging for several years now. the three tracks are a travel in to different style of techno with the intention to reach a certain emotion that is close from nostalgia and really deep feeling. the challenge of this work was to find a good balance between sound and colour, focusing on an old sci-­&#8208,,,fi landscape. with a really mature perception this young artist is developing his own sound, a detroit atmospheres, openly characterize this ep, but it remains antigone work at the end with all his sense of details and perception.
