power station continue to present their penchant for dark dance club sounds as the third edition of the kris baha-led imprint looks to another melbourne local by way of lochlan denholm aka disrute. after surfacing on the labels sampler debut just last year, reflexivity sees lochlan a chance to explore his style of twisted, pulsing homage to new wave and motorik throb. anvil landing wastes no time laying down intentions. sparse friendly drums are met with a modulating bass line and lazy arpeggio, an incessant sonar pulses and drum rolls intensify. snorkel continues the mid-tempo intensity, distressed kick counterpoint with aggressive stabs that rise and swirl before reaching a powerful climax, a track reminiscent of the 2000 s turbo-charged italo disco edits. on the flip we see japanese supergroup mascaras, made up of chida and 5ive (cos/mes) tackle unreleased kabutops. vocal fans of disrute s kabu track from the label sampler, here mascaras provide a fast paced acid-heavy reinterpretation, intense yet restrained with erratic drum trickery taking disrute to techno territory. finally, disrute reflects with title track reflexivity. digital arpeggios and a brooding one note bass work around curt cress style harmonic drums, a low slung piece for the early evening. hand drawn picture sleeve and label, a complete package that signals exciting times for power station ahead.

creme organization s jericho one label continues to set a fine agenda with its fifth ep, this time from dj plant texture aka dona basile, who also releases as dona and given. this is only his second ep under this alias, and is one that again marries breakbeats, techno and electro into electrifying new forms. things kick off with maybe sometimes , three minutes of brutal old school rave. maybe sometimes (2_3 psymono mix) is then a heavily filtered and stripped back version of the same tune that is brilliantly weird and otherworldly. lello from sda then picks up the pace once more with reversed stabs, slamming drums and rubbery bass all cut up with yelping vocals and dusty breaks that take you right back to the early 90s. on the flip, gargantuans is on a deeper and more trippy old school flex with bright pads and gurgling bass taking you higher, then cyclone (tribute to the 90 s) is just that with its frenzied drums, filters and euphoric breakdowns all run through with street fighter samples. d_one then ends the trip with a bit of ambient electronics, with odd sine waves and sharp sound designs placing you in an unhinged world.

u is a producer and dj currently living in london. previous records for man make music have proven suitable for the club as well as home listening, while a collaboration with babe, terror as btu for erol alkan�s phantasy label was varyingly described as �pleasure with a sense of dread� (the line of best fit) and �akin to having five songs playing simultaneously on your computer� (the guardian). 2014 saw u�s debut �haven in a heartfelt world� ep described as -giddy electronic fuzz that packs the subtlest of punches descends into dense glitch noise then returns triumphant gritty and melodic� (crack magazine) and �distorted dreamstates� (ransom note). after the deranged chamber­edits of vienna for where to now?, u returns to the well­trodden path between flattery and irreverence in dance music with a special edition 2-­track 12- for phantasy sound. friendly ghost enters with a splay of combat­bongos, a thin synthetic aura draws over the fluctuating rhythms before a strangely negative bassline sets the pace in nu­wave perpetual motion, inevitably spiraling back on itself into a clattering reversal. on the flip ascension hymn rushes headlong into a mechanical shunter, abruptly dragged back by a frail and singular voice reciting an uncertain mantra of self­fulfilment over this blunted hardcore epic spanning 13 minutes. pressed to heavyweight vinyl, designed and printed by the artist in an edition of 300ish.

alek s offers up another dose of pensive techno vibes in his �paradise lost� ep. side a opens up with �bold�, a slice of laid back while still pounding techno, boasting zippy synths with an unmistakable analog flavour. it�s closely followed by andres zacco�s rework of �honey wheat�, an apt reconstruction of the original that�s aimed squarely at the dancefloor. the argentinian producer and recent ilian tape alumni dives in with a powerful groove, cutting its way through a suspended atmosphere full of spaced out sounds. over on the b-side we�re greeted with �paradise lost�, a slow-paced melody that gradually shifts into a dreamy groove filled with spaced out drums and abstract delays. last but not least, the original version of �honey wheat� is a somewhat atmospheric, yet functional floor warmer that fits a resigned groove.

following the successful reception of klodio s debut ep, the tokyo-based producer spent the year playing shows in japan with various upcoming artists like fulbert and label co-founder alixkun, and taking part in disruptive events such as pow wow school of music. when klodio decided it was time to start recording his second ep, he took a slightly different direction, going from techno-influenced detroit house to house-influenced detroit techno. -shinagawa sunrise- is a fast-paced retro-futuristic jazz jam which climaxes on a fantastic sax solo by the young and talented ilia skibinsky. daiba goes a step further in this techno journey, flowing from glowing, light, syncopated chords to a dark and aggressive atmosphere, and back again to the relaxing chords. more polished, singular, deep, and yet aggressive than -toktroit-, -rainbow bridge ep- brings another stone in the asia-infused universe that the french producer is bringing to the world of electronic music.

eshone (donnie valdez) is a 31 year-old graphic designer, music producer and dubstep dj from albuquerque, new mexico now living in poland. eshone has performed in twenty states and several countries, including: canada, denmark, poland, the netherlands, and slovenia. donnie s earliest musical memories were his electric guitar playing days and listening to heavy-metal bands from twenty-five years ago. learning this instrument and listening to heavy-metal expanded donnie s musical horizons to signal processing and sound manipulation. armed with technical knowledge, donnie shifted his focus to music production in 2004, specifically, drum and bass. eshone makes tunes quickly because of his innovative production techniques and instant application of his craft. his frenetic production pace is closely related to his high-energy live three deck sets. donnie learned how to mix in 2003 and had plans on becoming a turntablist. currently, donnie prefers to mix and blend his productions, which focus on heavy basslines and anthemic grooves while keeping a dark vibe and gritty texture. donnie s love of nature and music gave him incentive to create his record label, elk beats. the elk is very similar to donnie s music, internet presence, and online persona: peaceful, present, and powerful. donnie enjoys spontaneous activities, such as: fly fishing, skateboarding, and snowboarding. his other passion is music, and eshone s productions are custom-made for large rooms with low-lights, loud sound systems, and an intense emotional experience.

london-based producer, visual artist and nts radio host kit grill has announced a new 5-track ep, titled westway. the ep will be available digitally along with a limited run of 200 vinyl copies designed by alex sullivan, with cover photography by grill and an accompanying video by london director laurie lynch. westway draws on grill�s personal experiences of living in a cityscape and echoes the industrial, fast-paced and repetitive rhythm of his home city, london. the ep was recorded over the course of several months from early 2015 to february of this year, the propulsive beats and driving, shimmering synthwork across tracks like �distance� and �street runner� inspired by and echoing the brutalist beauty of the capital, culminating in the euphoric, widescreen string flourishes of closing track �stairway�.

after a few digital releases, lunar convoy delivers a masterfully executed debut ep to inaugurate newcomer belgian imprint norite�s vinyl series. counting northern electronics, hypnus records, semantica and prologue among his main influences, lunar convoy�s first effort is utterly coherent while not failing to evoke a plurality of emotions. imbued with sacred atmospheres, infiltrated with mysticism, ritualistic melodies and aesthetically charged rhythms, outer rim territories is a testimony of his love for deeper realms. on the a side, seswenna�s trancey lead synth and pumping bass opens the ep with an excursion towards distant planets. ryloth ventures into darker fields, scattered with whirring and saturated analog complains and haunted by ancient voices. on the flip side, eriadu sets a more mystical pace with syncopated kicks and floating eerie pad, to embark on a parallel dimension. allen�s take on ryloth is symptomatic of the us-based producer, speeding things up and offering a stripped down version filled with devastating hi-hats and firing toms to end this solid 4-tracker with the hypnotic-yet-effective sound that got him signed on attic music, m_rec ltd, polegroup or more recently granulart recordings. with such a captivating release, lunar convoy has set a high bar for the upcoming releases and left us under his sway.

after a quick 4 years hiatus, filled with releases on innervisions, maeve and a couple of remixes, aera is finally back on his own aleph music imprint with 3 unique tracks. a1. two planets is the most obvious track of the ep. an exercise in outsider trance, a pulsating, polyrhythmic synth propels the track forward, the intricate 707 pattern keeps a steady pace, while background strings provide all the drama. b1. stylistically reminiscent of aeras first releases on aleph music, black glitz is the deepest track of the bunch. floating on a cloud of dreamy pads and voices, that arpeggio makes you realise immediately who you are dealing with. b2. maskull is a rather ambiguous little tune. somewhat rough around the edges, sparkling in the darkness of late nights, dwelling in voices and fog, this is the one for the heads.
