bondage-music head honchos pornbugs prep the labels next release for early april comprising three original tracks and a remix from mihai popoviciu. since 2006, german duo pornbugs have been pushing their minimal yet ambitious dance floor orientated house music through clubs across the globe, with their label bondage-music acting as a catalyst for forward thinking music. bondage-music also works as an outlet for other talented producers including romania�s mihai popoviciu and inmotion music signee markus homm to further develop their sound. fresh from a string of early 2017 digital releases from frink and sous sol, april sees bondage-music�s first vinyl offering of the year, kick started with the subtle and melodic cut �when you are gone�, which takes a deep groove and laces it with a plethora of soft synths and atmospherics. mihai popoviciu then reworks �when you are gone� into a different entity, rewiring a headier groove into the track with raw-defined hats, building further tension with tight synth stabs and ethereal pads. vinyl only track �innocent� then takes tribal tinged percussion to new depths, fuelling it with booming kicks and flourishing chords, further intensified by swirling vocals. a pure dub aesthetic then shines through �maritza�, as saturated drums and a rumbling low end provide the skeleton for swelling synths to meander alongside spiritual vocals, closing out the package.

discographies in dance music don�t come much more impressive than that belonging to paul woolford, the man behind seminal releases for the likes of planet e, xl recordings and running back. special request is the project that sees him continuing to defy expectation with a new ep on the fabric-run label houndstooth. stairfoot lane bunker encapsulates this approach with 5 bold new excursions into the outer limits followed by a remix from minor science (known for his previous releases on whities and the trilogy tapes) the eagle-eyed will notice 5 of these tracks appear on fabriclive 91. this ep is issued as an addendum. redrum is the fierce opener. rampantly-edited electro beats, a sampled speak-n-spell vocal, and a pure sci-fi breakdown sets the scene for the rest. stairfoot lane bunker and replicant are jungle tracks taken to dizzying extremes - the former building from widescreen atmospherics, thunder spells and lightning before descending into a frenzy of breakbeats and long heavy bass notes. replicant ratchets the pressure up further with hyper-edits across it s breakbeat introduction and throughout, punctuated by furnace-rattling subs. telepathic dog and five lane ends are highly evocative ambient pieces, pushing into the uncanny realms of metaphysical music. to end the release minor science comes through with his remix of stairfoot lane bunker, effortlessly blending in his own work with the disjointed sr breakbeats, flashing only snippets of the serrated bars, chopping them up and creating a new track in the process.

d edges cultured off shoot olga is back with a new ep, radiolarian, from german-bulgarian stefan goldmann. again it is a perfectly well sculpted ep with deep and sleek lines that get right into your head. the man behind it is the co-owner of the excellent macro label and for more than fifteen years has released intricate house and techno sounds. he is a deep thinker and master of hi-fidelity sound design and intricate grooves, so is perfect for this label. radiolarian is first and is seven sublime minutes of tunnelling techno rippled with neon melodies and firefly like pads that burrow into your brain. it is a high tempo and high impact track but a subtle one that works its magic slowly. building to a number of peaks, it then pulls back and the whole thing starts again. on the flip, streams is freaky and unhinged, with weird synth sounds making for a trippy atmospheres as minimal beats roll below. perfectly detailed so as to work on both head as well as heel, it rounds out another fine ep.

dragutesku is a new master of micro/minimalist soundscapes, he takes a malicious delight in building upper class patterns composed by mesmerizing textures as well as elaborated structures. the tracks are a mix of clean and precise minimal sound, with deep subs and bright high-pitched notes , slowly developing.

following his release on perlon as alter mahnn, collective member ion ludwig signs toi.toi s 4th release. the ep brings two tracks carefully chosen and crafted. rather than having the dance floor as a drive they are rather more mind driven, a very mature ep. not for you - this track, from the very beginning, manages to create a tension, a rather pleasant tension, a constancy is built and it does keep giving very slowly, building up to be an amazing jam suiting a dance floor as well as an inner moment of peace. are we for real brings a very slick groover. it brings a very delicate and extremely classy straight hihat leading the way at the forefront while the mind is grabbed by the musicality through a beautiful melody in addition to many hypnotic noises in and out.

ypy is the work of osaka based koshiro hino. having recently released on labels such as nous, his own label birdfriend, and the legendary em records koshiro now presents the 7 track lp 2020 for where to now? records. the lp leads with the slow building, off kilter title track 2020,where flurries of eastern horns skitter beneath evolving layers of wonked yet beautifully balanced percussive movements, coming off like a technoid homage to the fourth world works of eno & hassel. as is the case with much of hinos music, as the piece develops it takes on heavier and heavier modes of experimentation and excitement turbines whirr and fizz alongside layers and layers of percussion, constantly teetering on the edge of no-wave breakdown whilst never losing sight of the rhythmic backbone, recouping from every moment of collapse with total grace.

shaun reeves & tuccillo mark visionquest�s first release of 2017 with their �origin 99� ep, comprising four collaborative original tracks from the pair. individually shaun reeves and tuccillo have been driving forces in the realms of underground house for quite some time, collectively releasing on labels such as raum, 2020 vision, circus company and more. this time round though the pair�s material finds a home with visionquest, label co-founder shaun reeves joins forces with tuccillo, following his solo �full time� ep on the imprint in 2016, for a new synergistic release. up first is title track �origin 99� which sees the pair deliver a smooth understated house style via organic percussion, winding dub stabs and tension building atmospheric to create a subtly evolving six and a half minute cut. �one two five� follows and lays focus on a more stripped-back aesthetic with sparse rhythmic hits, tumbling sub hits and a dreamy bell chime melody. �prowler� opens the latter half of the package with soft chord sequences and wandering delayed synth lines running alongside 303 bass and shuffled snares before �blood moon� closes the package on a raw minimalistic vibe with swirling dub echoes and intricately evolving percussion.

its a pleasure to introduce tony rainwater, undoubtedly the most productive and creative savage weve come across recently. see usually we dont do this, lehult is a crew affair, but this guy left us no choice. being a music enthusiast, dj and dancer for a long time, tony has only most recently picked up producing his own music, yet at a stunning rate: when we first asked him for a demo, three months after he started producing, he swiftly dropped us a set of twenty-five tracks, another set of fifty more soon followed. his productions are straight rough edged, no-prisoners-taken jams, combining samples from the most far-flung corners of his eclectic music collection. his magical patchwork wild style is on full display on his debut rockberry jam ep for lehult. the a-side takes us through the lighter side of his repertoire with the title tracks slow building house groove, some dizzy medieval monk grooves on to all the world and seductive r&b on lay it on the line. on the flip operalight irresistible groove and black dream flowers provide some darker moments, before alone closes on a soft note. the vinyl version includes an extra goodie after the runouts. tony is now a fixed member of the crew already and were proud to have him and his crazy energy on the team. this wont be the last youll hear of him.

french producer keumel makes a poised vinyl debut on the inner balance imprint, with three originals of fine skipping house and a remix by imprints head domenico rosa. �laïka� is an afternoon space-walk in the vein of vintage derek carr, its synths, hats and mid-track acid line surfing light and breezy over a scudding, bumping bassline. rosa�s remix strikes a more contemplative note by placing a soft breakbeat under the acid line and airborne pads. �no chill� is a fast-tempo stripped-down house jam that kicks to the sound of the label�s father figure chez damier and his contemporaries. �space birds� rounds out the ep by building a slowburn groove out of which a lightly-warped acid line slinks part-way through.

matuss returns to her absence seizure imprint february 2017 with �seizure no.6, comprising four original compositions from the new york based artist. since launching the absence seizure imprint in 2015 alongside producer friend abe duque, new yorks matuss has carved out an impressive back-catalogue with this new release marking its sixth and previous material garnering the attention of acts like derek plaslaiko, beaner, dj deep, twr72 and norman methner. once again julia matuss, better known as simply matuss, is at the controls to deliver four original compositions, the first of which la folie sees her deliver a haunting slice of tension building techno via throbbing bass, organic percussion hits and subtly evolving distorted rhythms. muirr follows and takes a more reserved strip back approach with swirling bass tones and sparse drums gradually building towards a frenzied fusion of psychedelic synth swells, vocal stabs and acidic hits. opening the flip side of the record is i hate valentines day, a murky five-minute number employing mind-bending low end drones, dynamic off-kilter percussion and sweeping atmospherics before acid slay closes, and as the name would suggest lays focus on tripped-out acid licks alongside chugging bass and minimalistic drums.

baertaub�s newest release wolke welcomes you with bazalt, a very tight and sharply shaped minimal techno track designed to awake your senses one by one from head to toe with small noisey cuts and bits that show their faces at certain times to draw a sonic geometrical map. next up is a relatively darker track rather than rain which again features those alien bits and is enriched with an unexpected and grande synth melody that somehow fits perfectly with the dark mood and alienating sound of the track. b side opens with the ztrl remix of bazalt which focuses on that witty geometrical face of the track and lifts it to an upper level with slowly building beats and hypnotizing loops. the ep closes off with the title track, wolke, which follows a very interesting trajectory: a tense sounding chord line is softened by a groovy bass and dubby touches and percussive samples which in the end provides an unexpectedly feel good ending to a positively minimal ep.

new kid felix leifur made quiet a stir with his debut release on dirt crew last year. the icelandic juggernaut comes from the striving reykjavik music scene and is working closely with the lagaffe tales guys on building a new northern house empire. since his debut hes been working hard on creating a more varied vision of his unique lo slung hip hop approach to house music. with this ep he offers six new outings that have one thing in common, very warm and moody sounds ranging from disco through jazz and hip hop. were certain that he will continue to further cement his name in the coming years and were looking forward to working with him on plenty of exciting projects. opening with eyelids, felix delivers a rough, deep and dark house cut with broken beats, warped piano loops and twisted sampling throughout. classy has a smoky jazz feeling, kept tight with clever beat programming while evolving around a catchy sax motif. our personal fav is the title track, in general, a stunning broken beat house jam, smooth and loose, with swirling keys and a funk flavoured bass. the b-side begins with midwinter, a dance floor gem on a straight up junket. its deep, forward moving and bass driven, much like his track feels like that featured on our deep love compilation in 2016. yet another highlight for us is apollo, theres not many records out there that sound quite like this, thoroughly warped and contorted, depraved strings and a hypnotising rhodes arc and strain until the bass drops and it all falls in place psychedelic beauty! he closes with mine, a dope lo fi hip hop beat that casually wraps our ears, an ice cold soul infused piece.
