die veröffentlichung wird mit dem track atmosphere burning abgeschlossen. dieses stück ohne beat atmet synchron mit dem universum ein und aus. der track wurde von der schönheit unseres heimatplaneten inspiriert, der im weltraum schwebt und jenseits des menschen existiert.

bisher nur als teil eines box-sets erhältlich, wurde v.i.p. vagabonds in power live aufgenommen beim berlin jazz festival im herbst 1978 und im darauffolgenden jahr veröffentlicht. es is ein heftiger und textlich bedeutender schlag gegen den mißbrauch von staatsmacht. zugleich ist es das letzte album mit drummer und afrika 70 bandleader tony allen.
