relative newcomer to the scene, caserta delivers the goods on his first-ever artist ep release. spanning a wide range of styles from thumping sample-laden hip-hop grooves, to chill nu disco, to bumping old-school house, this one has a little something for everyone. cleverly knitted together with interludes and outros, the dynamic ep is both utility knife in the dj bag, and a beautifully varied listener experience. early support from soul clap, moon boots, kon, roberto rodriguez, justin jay (dirtybird), dirtytwo, craig smith (6th borough project), nathan g

when we signed bosq s tumbala featuring puerto rican legend tempo alomar on vocals last year we knew that it was a multi-cultural masterpiece. we also knew that giving it a boost for the club could take it to a whole other stratosphere. so we enlisted another one of our favorite multi culti producers, auntie flo to take it for a spin, and boy did he turn out a club jam!
another slamming post-disco number from the early 80s lifted from the legendary sam records vaults. this beat is mine has always been a big one, a boogie classic (featured in sean ps indispensable -boogie essentials list) and a sure fire party starter on any self respecting dance-floor! produced by gary r. turnier (of gary s gang fame) and andre booth (of northend, b.b.c.s. & a fame) the funk is definitely a factor on this cut! as if the original 1981 cut wasn t dope enough, boston mixtape, digging and edits king kon (of kon & amir, on track) got his hands on the reels and turned in a storming, respectful reworking for all you dj s out there who want that extra bomb factor in the booth! as usual with kon s edits this one packs a serious punch and this limited 12inch repress is a bonafide essential to have in your bag! don t snooze on this classic, now made available again, legitimately licensed, remastered and reissued in conjunction with sam records new york city.
pegasus warning is the soulful noise & brainchild of front man guillermo e. brown, making his deep&disco debut with try so hard.an anthemic slice of future soul, the package includes a dark and dubby remix by 6th borough project, a moody deep house mix by son of sound, a dance floor banger by caserta, and head nodding boom-bapper from d&d label head jkriv.
donna summer and kon are from the same boston neighborhood... dorchester. so it is only right kon reworks one of her biggest floor fillers. as usual kon keeps things true to the original but with that futuristic twist, sounding big for the parties of today. kon sets it off with a big drum break intro that builds into a vocal drop, kicking back into the groove and again with a few more breakdowns. the flip side dub is brought to us by kons right hand man caserta who kicks it off with a big piano build and really stretches things out giving this songs bass line some serious shine, a stone groove no doubt. both sides doing damage on the floor.
arriving at a fourth midnight riot label compilation in little over a year is no mean feat from yam who?s production operation, and the key to their success lies in the diversity of sounds you can include within the overarching theme of nocturnal grooves.
yam who? call on some respected names to contribute the next midnight riot 12 inch series, including caserta and indeed the boston based producer provides perhaps the best example of a nocturnal groove with his slow burning, beat down house cut >get down<.
the scandinavians the glue turn out their second cut from volume 4 with the uplifting, hypnotic disco burner pink ink which is receiving massive dj feedback.
