fist up on the a side is *eat ya foe*, a track which is built on unique percussion that possesses a warm bit crush effect. these foundations support the bouncing bassline which has an acid feel to it that works well against the potent vocals.
further damage is caused on the flip with *illin* where the rolling drums build nicely into the engaging lead line that advances through the track with filters and variations.

mongolia ep is the new dance-ep by dj, composer and musician susanne kirchmayr, aka electric indigo. the focus of mongolia ep lies on an interplay of unsynchronised dub effects. club music is otherwise quite restricted, these unsynchronised dub effects subvert this, the artist explains her basic intention with the tracks based on refracting rhythms and structure.

parisian techno enfant terrible mondkopf makes a rare excursion away from his fast rising in paradisium imprint to deliver an ep for perc trax, a label that clearly shares mondkopfs love for the experimental, the industrial and the distorted. across these three tracks the french producer applies an overdriven, fuzz-heavy aesthetic to symphonic broken beat techno. think ancient methods or perc at their most uncompromising but then expanded in every direction heavier bass, sharper highs and an orchestral edge that is epic without ever coming across as contrived.

as the rumors tell, this obscure piece of music was arranged by three acquaintances, who, by mere coincidence, formed a spontaneous, poly-toxic think tank one marvellous sunday morning, celebrating the beauty of old house music, while at the same time mocking the somehow cheap and predictable functionality of the four to the floor sound design. to honor the inspirational value of situations like these, the decision was made to share the result with a bigger audience. as a meta text, the lyrics form a tongue in cheek comment on nostalgic good old days aesthetics, and are simultaneously, and quite paradoxically, reminiscent of the utopian and transgressive vision of early house and techno music. if there is anything that we can retrieve from this vision today, it is the encouragement to create funny, pleasant and playful situations for ourselves and the like-minded, escaping the seriousness and boredom of the professionalized party and music business. and this is exactly the spirit, which is materialized on this piece of wax.

over the last year i have traveled to canada frequently for gigs and got to know the small but healthy electronic music scene there. cities like montreal, vancouver and toronto have brought forth many established artists over the past few years, such as egyptrixx, azari & iii, basic soul unit, jacques greene, lunice and sixtoo, but 2012 has seen a new breed of no-nonsense house and techno producers come up via labels like turbo recordings and naked lunch. this *dovercourt ep* features three very talented producers: kevin mcphee, nautiluss and gingy. their tracks are a dedication to their hometown of toronto. being removed from the house/techno epicentres of berlin and london, these three are much less interested in what is fashionable or trendy, and more in bringing us straight to the point, no frails jacking house music. i have been playing these three extensively in my dj sets, and i hope you will too. so out to toronto, this one is for you! enjoy. martyn

every once in a while a record or in this case an ep comes along and its so bursting with feel good vibes that even the most cynical dance music listener cant resist. at the mere age of 19, francisco davalos is about to grab the attention of many. simply put, the young mexican has a superb ear for the language of music. after a recent 12 on nurvous (nervous records new sublabel), on the prowl finds itself lucky to land these four tropical themed disco tinged club bombs. with hints of what made tensnakess coma cat so successful the bronx skillfully puts together his tropical ep packed with plenty of playful pianos, strings, congas, marimbas... theres no holding back.

these redux releases are like buses, we dont hear anything for ages then they hit us with three killer eps in a row. following the grand corporation and machete savane comes the return of phoreski. we have not heard much from phoreski for a little while, but you will soon hear why when you put the needle to the record on these two new tracks. he has been busily building up his studio into an enviable aladdins den of vintage kit, wires and analogue recording equipment. all synths and vocals you hear on these tracks come from phoreski, no samples, no guests, no edits. he has been hinting at this raw, analogue authentic sound for a while, but these tracks showcase a producer at one with the machines. >brown biscuits< comes across like some lost italo/cosmic gem, but via the north east of england rather than the lakes of italy. >machines< flexes tight proto-house rhythms with some bass that will make mince meat of lesser club soundsystems whilst the feuding synth lines fight for attention. this is proper body music, play loud!

jamal moss is back on morphine, although you wouldnt think it by the sound of these painfully out-there tracks.both tracks clock in around the 13 minute mark and head deep into total-nutball territory. clued up sickness again on this excellent label. tip!
