respected house and techno artist dj deep returns to rekids with four murky productions this june. having been a staple in the parisian scene for over two decades, dj deep’s vast knowledge of electronic music is indisputable making his return to production in recent years all the more exciting, releasing on tresor, rekids, and his highly regarded label deeply rooted. ‘la grande brasserie’ features rolling kicks and a subtle rhythm as futuristic stabs ebb in and out of the mix, contrasting to the ‘2e service’ version which, whilst sharing a similar aesthetic, sounds bigger with its echoing synths and infectious claps. on the flip, both tracks are more dark and mellow in comparison, ‘paris heartbeat’ demonstrates twisted atmospherics and gloomy elements, whilst the intricate and mesmerising ‘chord kids’ is exemplary of dj deep’s ability to craft imaginative left-of-centre cuts.

fresh from his recent outing as hesperius draco, alessandro parisi is casting off for his debut on charlois. the italian is setting out his stall with a five tracker. honeyed bars are cut by sharp percussion as the brooding -meduna waves- opens. space soaked synthlines coil around a pulsing drum for the slow burning -cosmica 1999.- the flip sees a wave edge enter. cascading chords and a bolstered beats form the pain streaked beauty of -fear and money never had.- -exhibition of love- is brimming with meaty snares biting into thick strings combined in a power filled piece. parisi illustrates his enviable talent throughout, a talent that comes to the fore with the arpeggiated intensity of -virtualand.-

alessandro parisi recorded this album just with a roland tr-707 and a roland jx-3p. the result is impressive. for lux rec it was worth the labels first lp. the heritage from his home in the northeast of italy is clearly present in the music of parisi. back in the late seventies and early eighties pordenone was an industrial city with a vivid underground post punk and wave scene. cold weather electronics. fog and darkness surrounds the place to this day and deeply pervades this record: the history of a city called draconia. who will do wrong shall not be forgiven. limited to 250 copies, it comes in a red vinyl double 12-inch outfit. free download included!

neapolitan techno powerhouse unrilis delivers a brand new ep from gaetano parisio in the form of needing chords. up there with the likes of adam beyer, ben sims and marco carola as one of the premier exponents of european techno, parisios reputation is backed up by an enviable discography and touring schedule. needing chords, backed by a remix from another neapolitan legend in rino cerrone, is a heavy-set, muscular techno-workout which builds with unbridled intensity. cerrones remix is considerably more stripped but loses none of the originals power. moodier and with a sinister edge, its an interpretation which provides an exciting slant on the original. the skippy funk of fake stuff follows and does so with a playful urgency. threaded with a snaking white noise motif that ebbs and flows under staccato keys, its hugely hypnotic while not loosing its groove. finally, its the trippy synths of program meanings that close the ep. heavily layered the track constantly and fluidly shifts with filters revealing new combinations of layers throughout while a funk licked bassline and heavy drums do the rest. hope the usa tour was fun!
