as the timing appears to be right while summer just made it’s entrance it seemed only appropriate for the release of another single.
the idea behind the release was conceived when digging for records through paris while touring a couple of years ago during a conversation with a vinyl monger discussing 70’s pop-funk pakistani composers.
since the inspiration as well as the records sampled for both of the tracks were picked up from the “city of lights” it seemed only appropriate for mononome to finally collaborate with parisian label and long-time friends stillmuzik for a release.
“loralai” evolves around a feel-good uptempo groove emphasizing on the sample while “besima” is based mainly on mononome’s characteristic drum sounds, leaving an essence of psychedelia in the background.

back in 1995 while living on the west coast, at the peak of the rave experience, dj spun and dhyan moller recorded a bunch of live tracks, without any sequencer, all direct to cassettes. spun aka jason drummond, reached out last spring after rediscovering all the cassettes and asked us if wed be interested in releasing some of the tunes. jason shipped us the cassettes and after a good transferring session, we decided we had to release all the tracks under a 3lp set. this stuff is fire. we still love dj spun and dhyan moller!

the jamaican sonia pottinger was once called “the most important jamaican woman involved in music business”. dancing down orange street is a collection of some of her famous productions for different artists. the album captures the moment when rocksteady transformed into reggae by speeding up a little and moving towards a more jerky and less smooth musical palette. famous singers as delano stewart and ken boothe are present on the album with multiple tracks. the vocal trio the melodians (known for their hit “rivers of babylon”) provide a couple of beautifull songs. even after all those years (released for the first time in 1969) the compilation remains a treasure of showcasing some of the finest songs produced by sonia. sonia pottinger was married to music producer lyndon pottinger and started to record musicians in 1996. during the late 60’s she produced songs for joe white, the melodians and toots & the maytals.

so you thought u-trax was all about fancy, state-of-the-art, absolutely undanceable, hard-to-understand, semi-intelligent techno? well, you’re absolutely right, but this u-trax-release is just not! produced by german heinrich tillack, these tick trax volume 1 are just the good old way of making techno. raw & uncomplicated, in the tradition of the chicago underground.

this is something in between underground & commercial in a good way... patricio cabezas is an experienced musician and producer, born in chile but lives and works in sweden. after years as a touring bass player, he dedicated himself to start programming synthesizers and producing electronic music. in his music, cabezas embraces the grey zones and in-between-ness that formed him since childhood. he approaches music the same way, discovering and experimenting, almost hybridize genres and moves between live and programmed performances. in 2015 the tom ep was released under his alias this other space on tasteful nudes/argot. cabezas is also working in collaboration with dagfest (paper recordings, bearded man, melodica) and 95kbps (krater).

rob belleville is a producer from the netherlands. his music can be found in the same space as producers such as arne weinberg, microworld, sean deason and drivetrain. he is know for moving between ambient electronica and atmospheric techno sounds, always warm and well produced. this release is no different, as here we have two very special tracks with the same integrity as anything rob has written in the past. on the a side we ve got implacable force which features a driving techno foundation and washy synths, interwoven for perfect headspace. the second track in is sungazing, which takes you into a more lazy groove with swirling, warm pads and more good drum programming. the b side features rise n shine and sands of time, both blurring the line between deep house and techno, with a fine balance between the melodic textures and tech house percussion. if you like atmospheric, melodic textures and quality music in general, this one is for you.

this album is a collaboration between labels kontra-musik and kess kill. what would have become of d.a.f. if they had been signed to trojan instead of mute back in the day add a good pinch of absurdism and social realism in the vein of prized film director roy andersson and vanligt folk might just be the answer. the gothenburg groups name can be translated to common people and they make use of primitive electronics, drums and skewed vocals - ranging from harsh social commentary to the purely nonsensical - to create their own take on body music. hambo is the name of a traditional swedish folk dance that was highly popular among the common people at the turn of the last century. with this album, vanligt folk juxtaposes the working class dance phenomena of hambo with modern day rave culture. this is done in the most blasphemous manner thinkable, as is the way of vanligt folk. concepts like nationalism, race and tradition are all treated with the same merry lack of reverence. the only thing that needs to be respected is the dance and those who take part in it, whether accompanied by accordions or drum machines. or both.

boogie café enlist the expertise of goshawk & erik rico to provide the goodness for the next instalment in their boogie café black series. the home e.p. houses four versions of the title track with side a serving up a piano vibe mix, alongside a dub mix for good measure. the vibe mix layers a bassy, bumping piano line & erik s rnb flavoured vocals behind a shuffling beat before a soulful flute line takes centre stage. on a slightly different tip the dub mix drops the flute in favour of echoed out stabs for a sparser and tougher aesthetic, readymade for the dancefloor. flip it over and the percussion vibe mix adds in some choice congas and bongos, combined with sustained organ-style synths and jazzy piano chords, creating a more summertime soul style to the track. the fourth and final dub mix sees goshawk use erik s vocals in short but sweet snippets, adding extra atmosphere to the track but allowing the piano and percussion to lead the way.

2nd ep from david kitts new jackson yous lp released in march this year a mini lp of sorts featuring 5 new tracks! according to david: like lightning was written after a late night/early morning adventure with friends in galway city a good few years ago now. i always find it hard to choose singles but this seemed to be lot of people s favourite album track. i ve availed of every last second of space on the 10 inch to turn this release into a mini-album of sorts with three quite different instrumentals one part folk, one part modular electronic and one recorded using two buddah boxes in the glasgow underground. there are also two unreleased songs that have knocking around the hard drive for a while but fit nicely on this release.

master of snare disaster limewax strikes back hard again on this huge 4 track ep on prspct. delivering all things great this disturbed but brilliant producer has to offer. drum & bass for the freaks and outcasts that crave for more then just a rolling beat. 2 solo tracks + 2 collabs with the likes of l 33, switch technique, dieselboy and thrasher. did we mention this release is huge? hell yeah we did! well it s a good thing as its double huge anyway! all hail limewax and houjekkmuil!

music is feeling, music is meetings. in 2015, the s3a records 04 was released with collaborations of good friends of s3amet in the world by the music (tito wun, mannmademusic). this sampler continue the story with tracks from people s3a met during gigs and travels in the past year: sweely delivers here great speedy long jazz banger with a great voice sample as a theme. the columbian felipe gordon gives a great stompy funk bass track! on the b side, the french g2s drops a beautiful house sample based -graef like- song. for the last track need a little bit of story. in 2016 s3a released an ep called 3711 on soundofspeed records in japan. the track -bush- taken from this ep has been remixed during a contest in early 2018. 42 remixes were done and the winner has is remix edited here. pnom pen gives us here his 80 s electro version of the track adding great pads and a complete different rhythm and grooves!

this single is very special for visions recordings as we see a fresh collaboration between alex attias and luman child, two swiss artists reunited for the first time.alex proposed luman child a collaboration after listening to his music. then they met and talked about music , visions, influences, method of work and decided straight away to work together without knowing each other well and pushing them outside their comfort zone. they are both very happy with the resultjalex attias has been in the music for many years producing, remixing many great artists and djing all over the world. at the moment alex is about to release a compilation on bbe records ( lillygood party !) , plus a couple of remixes are on the way and he s also preparing other singles for his label visions .luman child produced in 2017 a killer first album with german label solid ground still available on a neo soul hip hop tip. he reached number 11 in the uk soul charts. as a musician and bass player luman child had a few collaborations with ferry ultra, gogo music and marc mac 4 hero.the project they present here is very organic soulful and musical. this single hold two killer tunes for the listener and the dancers.the a side is a 125 bpm disco jazz funk killer jam with live bass, fender rhodes and vintage keyboards sounds driven by a very funky drum beat and live basseline aimed to the dancefloor and good time party people keeping a smile on your face. its simply groovy and goes on and on for 10 minutes of pure disco pleasure.the b side is a funky number boogie jazz funk inspired by mr ayers vibes and sounds . the rhythm is groovy at 120 bpm and the moog bassline is round and fat. accompanied both track by fender rhodes and dope keyboards sounds, this one will definitely find place in dj boxes for those who play and love soulful music with an open mind. groovy , warm and soulful at his best.
