nagamatzu were the british duo of andrew lagowski (seti, legion, terror against terror) on synths, guitar, and programming and stephen jarvis (pure motorised instinct, terraform) on synths and bass. formed in 1982 after messing around with old tape machines and drum boxes, making numerous contributions to international compilations and erratically releasing their own cassettes. their name comes from a character in jg ballard�s �atrocity exhibition� and their music reflects his influence. nagamatzu self-released their debut cassette �shatter days� in 1983 after messing around with old tape machines, drum boxes and effects.

colognes well-liked party imprint feines tier kicks off its in-house label with johannes klingebiels latewood ep. johannes provides four original tracks with a capital o! on the a-side the title track with its steaming pads and melancholic synth lines is almost too sweet to be true, while kontakt gets the house party started, serious drum machine work-out and synth horns all inclusive! the flipside delivers the trippy cyprian, revealing that piano sampling still can feel fresh and inventive, and trancy fancy, where nomen est omen.

the music has come into my life when i was about 9 years old, thanks to one of my sisters tape with songs by bob marley and the wailers. so i switched from reggae to dub, from dub to jazz, from jazz to radical improvisation in a moment.now i m 33, and after producing pretty much any kind of music, i want to put together what i still like of dub music with that of the south of europe, which is the place where i grew up, melting everything together with vintage equipments and working with modern machines at the same time. playing and producing this music has been therapeutic for my head. making all this known is for me like seeding again the love for music without any distinction. andrea gabriele 1981 - 2015
