cosmo vitelli, i’m a cliché’s founder and head, heard the voice of our unruly feet after taking us on a long car journey with botox. night dogs is his first solo ep in a long time. and he’s back to the dancefloor with an unexpectedly nervous pace.

the uncanny valley-quartet is rounded up by the ace of spades. before starting to release its first artist-eps, the compilation-series is rounded up for now with the roughest ep so far. sneakers you think you think! takes no prisoners and comes with a dark bass line you cant really resist. the track is a musclebound monster and includes claps that are out of control and freaked out vocals by sneaker himself. no less rough is cvbox machinematch, even if its acid-thunderstorm builds up far more subtly. finally, plätschern by stefan lohse takes us on a 100-bpm-journey straight into analogue wonderland..

the lp offers a different flavor, continuing this celestial, heart-felt journey miles away on a foggy day. but don t get too morose as there is hope in the upbeat, breaks-driven last sunbeam. the tempo continues to build in everywhere i go before launching into the techy sounds of the heavily vocoded computer love. mc fava lends his talents on a plethora of tracks, including addicted and the title track, stay forever.

geno records first release comes to you from belgium based dan d. dan comes from a traditional of both classical and jazz traditions. dan also developed a love of latin dance in his youth. once moving to berlin in 2001, dan was further influenced by the house sounds of the original panorama bar. dan himself has continued on to dj some of berlins best parties/venues including beatstreet, watergate, arena, maria, and the new panorama bar. club der visionäre has also been very important to dans musical growth. dan has had the opportunity to cut his teeth playing 10 hour marathon sets during his regular appearances since 2004. furthermore, he appeared in clubs like rote sonne (munich) and decadance (gent, belgium). friends like tobi neumann and dinky got him into production in 2003. dans first vinyl release on district of corruption lead to praise from some of the best djs in the business. the african market is quite an evolved sophomoric release for dan. the title track, african market, is a pulsating but stripped down organic percussive journey. afro-cuban rhythms lovingly exchange energy with warm analog synths and crisp techno electronic beats. the flip side, el baile, is a slow burning house jam. el baile features eerily reverberated studio recorded vuvuzela, crisply saturated jazz keys, and the same pumping afro-cuban rhythms that sets dans sound apart from others.

the journey starts with epic pads and deep-space melodic strings that flow into rolling drums on the intro, building up into the massive anthem . the drop delivers big, bad, wobbling basslines & retro analog synth stabs that fire over heavy assaulting beats, making this an absolute dancefloor smasher destroying everything in its path and taking no prisoners!
the flip side jumps off with a futuristic atmosphere of high-pitched strings, pads and funky percussion hits while hinting a classic hip-hop sample. wide-open, ravey synths creep up and build into the drop that hits with pounding drums and filthy punishing basslines moving in perfect balance to break free just long enough for the vocal to remind party people in the house what time it is. guaranteed to get the crowd going mental - this one is a banger!

in 2009 the internationally acclaimed german director tom tykwer (perfume, run lola run, the international) supervised a film project in kenyas largest township kibera together with his wife marie steinmann. they put together a team of international film pros that each mentored one film student and helped them put together the movie soul boy. a story about a boy who has to go on a journey to rescue his fathers soul from a mysterious voodoo women.
the result of xavers score is a percussive journey reminiscent of minimal music from the 60s paired with african vibes but completely void of world music cliches. its closer to krautrock and steve reich than to the commonly shallow perception of indigenous music by first world movie directors. full of odd sounding kalimbas and plucky guitars, backed by heavy orchestral drumming and floating e-bows.

andreas gehm returns to the mathematics imprint for another round of sick cuts. this is voodoo opens with an eerie basement banger that is followed by all soul day, a deeper journey into his production. the return of ra kicks up the dark acid while the title track ends the ep with more tech.
