dead fader returns with his new album *glass underworld*. dead fader is the alter ego of john cohen - former brighton resident, now based in berlin - who has worked relentlessly since 2007 to realise his vision of electronic music. his tracks are characterised by pioneering sound explorations, which on one hand oscillate between sonic extremities and on the other hand carefully craft cinemascope sound worlds. *glass underworld* became a very personal exploration for john, developing further his emotionally tinged brand of techno which he established with the previous ep sun copter. furthermore, the film interstellar visually influenced the album, mapped as an image for cohens tracks to exist in. the vinyl release is limited to 300 copies and comes with download code included.

juan rico, a.k.a. reeko and a handful of other aliases, is a consistent and reliable ambassador of a spanish techno scene that has brought us everything from oscar mulero to tadeo. in his architectural guise (which is also the name of his personal releasing imprint), rico has developed a penchant for perfectly interlocking sonic elements and for a structural sensibility that delivers on the promises of advanced engineering implied by his artists pseudonym. the first result of his new alliance with the wolfskuil label is a full lp that dispenses with the formalities of introducing listeners to the artist, and simply dives straight in to depths of his active mind.

limited to 100 copies hand-stamped 12 inch.return to disorder is the new label from hamburg producer and dj helena hauff, known for her dark brand of ebm and electro-infused music and without doubt one of the best selectors currently playing in clubs. the act responsible for the debut release from return to disorder is children of leir, a leicester-based psych rock outfit whose influences come from mystical horror. not the sort of music one would immediately associate with hauff s floor pummelling dj sets and a hint that return to disorder will be dictated by hauffs tastes as opposed to a need to satisfy the beat. the four tracks present here are a fine introduction to children of leir, with their feedback-laden sound perfectly enhanced by the mastering skills of pete sonic boom kember.

where his previous effort, 2014s *the hollow organ*, dealt in dense, distressed sonics, *olympic mess* is younger responding to a period spent engaged with loop-based industrial music, dub techno, and balearic disco. these musical references, all of which can induce hypnotic states and feelings of euphoria, inform ten evocative aural landscapes which unfurl over the course of an hour and act almost as a counterpoint to the turmoil that spawned them.

a recontextualized hybridization of that which is familiar to create the foreign. using classic chicago, detroit and new york as a reference, i sought to explore new sonic possibilities while limiting myself to the classic machines and sounds of the era that inspired me to dedicate my life to this art-form.

for some it might be kraftwerk, but for me, my favourite electronic pioneers are probably australias severed heads. they were so far ahead of the game that they had to invent a lot of the technology they used. inspired, playful, never boring and always sonically brilliant they pushed at the frontiers of electronic music more than most. by the late 80s they were pursuing a slightly more polished course and made a series of records that had the potential to reach a much larger audience. possibly because of their name they never quite managed that, but they had several big club hits, the dub versions of which crossed over into the nascent house scene. i am honoured that i am able to make the dubs of those three 12 inches from 1988 - 1990 available again.

flumo limited returns in the form of a translucent blue 10 inch, slice of blue acid from el_txef_a. the release features 2 originals that incorporatesthe emotive and deep vocals of terence mckenna and is packed full off 303 beats, ready to do the work on the dance floor. side a of this double sider comes in the form of ‘neurotransmitters communication’, a 9 minute roller which blends heavy bass beats and piercing vocals into on ocean of squelching undertows. for side b, el_txef_a presents us with ‘fear vs love’, intertwining flutters of break beat around chugging acid melodies, and leaving the listener with a perfect combiantion of sonics. this is one piece of wax that is almost certainlly an essential for your record bag, a homage to the warehouse raves of times past and a melting pot of acid acoustics.

iconic deep house label large music returns to the vinyl market with a limited repress of the classic kerri chandler release return 2 acid. first pressed in 2005, this was the 100th release on large and has been out of print for 10 years. the a side features kerri s powerhouse tribute to the glorious days of acid house laced with driving beats and an incessant 808 acid line. on the flip side kerri goes old-school, this time with an electro afrika bambaataa influenced jam entitled planet sonic. also included for this special reissue is the unreleased acapella of return 2 acid solidifying this as a true collectors item

the maghreban is new to house music, and doesnt really listen to house music, which isnt necessarily a bad thing. he has worked extensively in other genres under other names. looking at house from these sideways perspectives perhaps gives him an interesting angle on it. this second release sees the maghreban expand his sonic palette somewhat, taking in some african sounds but also continuing along the vintage theme of his first 12 inch. radio play from benji b (bbcr1), thristian (nts), support from ben ufo (rinse/hessle), brian not brian (going good/kristina records), gatto fritto (international feel), sasa (in flagranti, nts), leri ahel (mutant disco).

the *obsidian falls* ep from seattles josef gaard sits at a very fascinating but incredibly complimentary space between traditional techno tendencies and freeform ambient composition and experimentation. each track seamlessly references each other providing a straightforward sense of cohesion while maintaining a constant and aggressively progressive motion. the ep will guide and gently coerce the listener into experiencing a somewhat altered perspective on sonic and musical expression. without much notice the listener will effortlessly travel from point a to point c without realizing they have ever touched on point b.

great circles is pleased to present another artist from the philadelphia underground - m//r magnetic resonance. with this debut 12 inch, m//r brings a new dimension to the labels sonic story. on the a-side, adjacent possible is warehouse primed, with its massive kick, rotating squelches and infectious claps, while texas acid patiently seeks you out and finds you huddled in the darkest corner of the room, its delayed synths turning percussive and pattering your theta state like acid rain. on the b-side, honey single deftly weaves dub fragments and metallic webbing into a padded electro structure. panthers 1 slows the pace and opens the doors to a phantom voice and lush melodic strains that slowly merge into a unified ensemble over the extended, hypnotic beat.

born to trinidadian and finnish parents in sweden, jean-louis huhta took an early interest in percussion punk, african, disco, dub, detroit techno and chicago acid were all early sonic influences. couple these genres with an interest in percussion, drums, synthesizers and skateboarding and you are half-way into describing the sound of dungeon acid.
