desolat is happy to announce a new 12inch by giuseppe cennamo. born in naples, italy in 1980, giuseppe took to the turntables at age 13. following the legacy of fellow napolitanos like marco carola, danilo vigorito and davide squillace, he took the inspiration of classic house and melodic synths to build his own brand of tech. his tracks on several labels got a lot of peak time play and caught the ears of loco dice. fortuitously, after a break to clear his head, mr cennamo decided to take the inspiration of a loco dice dj set to create something specifically tailored for desolat, which resulted in this release.this particular slice of vinyl is aimed squarely at the djs - with the title track amanecer digging deep into the pads, a cantering kick and gentle swing that hints at detroit forefathers. cuando tu quieres stomps its heels and morphs into a very whimsical bouncing house burner: plenty of fun to be had with this one. dejame asi feels like a spaghetti western re-imagined with the help of a conical moving laser beam, a childrens choir and a bag full of kazoos while the rest of nothing is a reduced, pinocchio-like percussion-driven track with an insistent bassline

lol is a bit of an unusual project, its just a thing in its own right, its not for anything or anyone in particular, its just an lp made by three bored people who like music that sounds like it did before the advent of the internet. the project was recorded in the bedroom of a warehouse conversion in hackney wick (bedrooms can be incredibly creative spaces, seeing as most of us were conceived in one). they wrote about self-obsession, social anxiety, drug abuse, and failed relationships using pre-21st century recording devices such as vhs tape, 70s valve microphones, analogue synths, cheap argos catalogue guitars, and 80s drum machines.

the truth: this one is for the indie lovers ? five tracks of homespun homegrown homemade shoe-scuffing heartbreakpop featuring a ruffled array of alternative special guest singers. gospel music, aka owen holmes, is the man at the eye of this particular humble hurricane. when he isnt emailing camera obscuras tracyanne campbell or darren hefner hayman he is playing bass with cheery floridian indiepop critters black kids. and when he isnt working on black kids somophore album he is laying down hobo-jumping leftfield nuggets when run the gamut from johnny cash to jonathan richman and beyond. but dont just take our word for it ? this is what gospel music has to say about himselfË

12inch full of music with a definite sense of place. eerie synthesiser pulses, funk-infused drums and languid guitar-scapes have been part of the musical topology of düsseldorf since the early seventies: and this particular release pays full tribute to that legacy, with jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag) comprising an eerie piece of swampy lazer-forest rock. this sound is also a modern day staple of düsseldorfs nightlife at the salon des amateurs, a small bar attached to the kunsthalle art gallery that is an oasis of hypnotic disco nightmares. the salon is where der räuber und der prinz made their first live appearance in 2008 (when the original composition for moogwalzer was debuted), and both members of the band frequently play there: ralf beck with his bodyrocking club act unit 4 and sebastian as half of art-rock duo noblesse oblige. meanwhile two of the guests on this release - detlef weinrich also known as toulouse lowtrax, contributing words about a ghostly maiden on moogwalzer, and thomas klein contributing drums to jagd auf den hirsch - are both original members of the quintessential düsseldorf act kreidler. salon dj resident vladimir ivkovic also had a hand in the creative clarion call for the jagd auf den hirsch (hunt for the stag). to complete the circle, düsseldorfs new resident and desolat mainstay guti wrote his remix in the middle of the night in buenos aires, as a kind of letter to his new home-to-be. there we have it: a true tribute to a city we love, with tracks for the dancefloor as well as moments of melancholic contemplation.

sascha dive has been successful both as a producer, and as a dj. when you talk with him about club music, and in particular house music, you almost get the impression of talking to a human encyclopaedia. his expert knowledge combined with his definition of contemporary club tunes makes his sets a unique experience. he takes the audience on a trip towards the future and the past, and at the end of the night gently back into the here and now again.

at a dark night in autumn 2009 i decided to move back from berlin to the circle. back around christmas 2009 the quiet wintermonths took over and re-created the studio in the circle where i was able to sitdown and mixdown the tracks i created over the last 21 months in berlin.
for the first time i decided to give this particular album the unique touch by handmaking all the artwork. every single record has been handstamped both sides, the covers manually printed and put together. all 200 pieces are different and have their own singular identity. now, at the end of june 2010 i can present this big collection of expressions. quagmire ltd is a small platform to release this debutalbum. limited to 200 pieces of triplepack 12 inch including 13 mixes.

they advised us not to sing reads the cheeky title of excentric chilean beatmakers los updates new ep . 4 tracks full of wicked grooves, raw and sweet at the same time and that particular discard of old rules that has become the trademark of producers coming from the land at the end of the world. of course released by nice cat! records

it is no secret that the 1980s was probably one of the best decades. 1986 was in particular a very memorable and historic year across the world. it also happens to be the year delete was born and the name of the groove laden a-side. >1986< does not boast any sci-fi effects or other worldly sounds, it does however have one of the catchiest bass lines out there. >our generation< pours a real telltale chicago house vibe, complete with derrick carter style vocals and a bone-chillingly infectious four-note pad melody. this is eyes closed, hands in the air euphoric house. the 12 inch rounds out with delete still showcasing his knack for creating funky bass lines with, >lunchbox<. this number runs a bit deeper than the first two tracks, as it is rolled along by little percussion edits and snippets that evoke a more subtle laid-back vibe.

after a couple of remixes made for the labels around 2002 losoul finally delivers his first single ep and we are very proud about it! those tracks feel like losoul really made one special for logistic! a sweet record greatly representing the music we have always loved to release. in between house and techno (losoul style… groove but freak!) this 2 tracks ep has a strong and particular energy perfectly designed for dance floors. a precise production work on both >dogma< and >calma< give cool sensation on large sound system. enjoy!

stewart walker started his career on the mythical detroit label matrix, did some stuff for force inc, tresor, mille plateaux and minus, before founding persona. we really believe scratched notes is among the very best music he has ever released!

jay haze aka fuckponys superb ode to love in general and loved-up ravers in particular provides us with another sparkling gem: the second single from his current lp has the equally romantic and revealing title >i m burning inside<. it allows us to clearly feel that love-fuelled power, but never lets us get close enough to the fire to get seriously burned. jays sound is simply a tad too cool for that. despite all the emotional appeal, he always keeps a wink in store to save us right at the brink. the remixers reboot and paul ritch give far more obvious signals. both of them say loud and clear: dance!

nice price deal !!! austria and in particular vienna finds itself the focus for new and creative sounds - phlox is a fascinating imprint promising dubstep, plentiful low end and an intoxicating blend we can only describe as neuro garage. a new label, a new identity - and a refreshing music policy - simply that they dont actually have a music policy.

the particular view on a musical future might have been considerably different when olaf hilgenfeld (berlin) met iftah gabbai (jerusalem) for first sessions in 2004. the piano player hilgenfeld used the accordion that time mainly, whilst gabbai was using all instruments available, a computer was among those more by chance. only one year later the duo skinnerbox played regularly on such uplifting, innovative off-partys that came up in the new techno generation again.
that was just the beginning. skinnerbox have developed a purely electronically composed and performed music (partly featuring vocals by elle_p) – that is not based on loops but improvised techno inspired house and minimal house. the roles in the duo are clearly settled: olaf hilgenfeld – moog synthesizer, iftah gabbai – hardware drum machines, max/msp und ableton live.
all these distinct impacts and effects can be heard on their various releases from the last two years, but far better in their live sets. skinnerbox are an experience, taking you on expedition with paralyzing minimal, breaking house, hard-edged techno-jazz, and ambient electronica futurism.
it was a desire to eternalize this play- & colorful diversity, often just caused by the moment, as entire homogeneity. thus, they needed to leave temporarily their environmental techno and minimal house scapes. >king of spades and marmalades< – the result – is a jazz opus wrapped into a disco suitcase. it is a reminiscence as well as going far ahead of daily musical habits, shown not at least by the order of tracks, do not starting with a stunning hit of the album, but with 20 minutes of challenge.

bodo elsel has only done a handful of records and the two that i have known and loved since 1998 were put out on playhouse, the excellent housey sister-label of mighty klang elektronik. one track in particular, discount baby, has always stood out in my mind as a high water mark in the sacred art of groove (you may have heard of it). punchy accents and resonant bass layered with trippy vocal loops, its dubby acid house of the highest order, made by a mysterious german lego-master, who the a&r team of mike mind and thomas st shindig managed to coax back into activity.
it only took bodo a year to answer mr. minds email, but he eventually delivered three amazing tracks... >haustier< revitalizes piano house. >mai< is incredible, and >mein haus< is one of the top few all-time expressions of the greatness/meaning of germany, putting it in the fine company of the autobahn, sven väth and christmas-market schwein. nice wibes!!
the icing on the cake was that bodo made it very clear he wanted no part in royalties or any of that business crap... he just wanted 42 copies of the record. yes. 42.

andres is releasing an ep on kalk pets featuring three different versions of his track >ballad<. now if you re associating melancholy and a thousand tears with that title, you ll be taught better by the track itself. for this particular ballad is full of positive energies and sings anything but the blues.

stone cold classic funky disco floor filler thats stood the test of time. first time ever on 12inch!!! taken from the hard to find self titled lp by tommy stewart, bump & hustle music is the definitive disco funk party anthem. it was recorded in 1976 in atlanta, georgia, and since then the lp has found itself in the play boxes of soul, funk and jazz djs alike. however, its not until now that this amazing song has finally made it onto the preferred format of dance djs the world over û the 45rpm 12inch single. in 1976 tommy stewart was a busy man, working as an arranger, producer, performer and writer for a host of soul and rnb artists. the lp made for abraxas records was the first to go directly under his name, and although it failed to take off locally, the lp soon became known by djs across the world primarily for the club smash bump & hustle music. as it happens that song in particular almost didnt exist but for tommy needing to come up with something quick in order to fill in a gap in the album. conceived and recorded on the spur of the moment, and with backing vocals by isaac hayes singers hot buttered soul overdubbed later, its a superb example of rhythmic simplicity blended with soulful, catchy harmonies. its just impossible to listen to bump & hustle music without a broad smile coming to your face, and when played loud in a club, its impossible not to dance!

as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.

juan sanchez, the amsterdam based producer with spanish background, makes his wolfskuil debut with an impressive 2 track single. the freakshow ep is an examplary showcase of what juan is capable of. two peaktime tracks, but both with different angles. the title track delivers exactly what you expect from a song with that particular title. freaky, out of control basslines and over the top rhythmic exersises, with loads of subtle hints, clever programming and detailed edits form the freaked out basis for juans vocals. no 4 bars are the same, but the track is coherent from beginning untill the end. prepare to rip up floors with this one!23 positions shows a different side of juan. its carrying his trademark production style, but 23 positions takes a more melodic approach. beautifully arranged strings sweep in and out througout the track, accompanied by a non stop rolling groove. again there is a remarkable eye for detail, clever programming and spot on sound engineering, wich makes this tune explode from any pa.
