hypnotize to mesmerize. thatÆs always been mark eÆs thing. enjoying a sterling reputation as an editor as well as establishing his own label merc with a string of well made 12inches and two dope compilations, the man from birmingham complements our little label again with some original productions. starting with out with nobody else, mark puts love on top of love. unfortunately for you - and good for us - you have to fetch a second copy to go back and forth with the weighty bonus beats. flip side: the wolf is a murky trip into classic cavernous house music with a bottom-heavy ruffneck sound and an attention drawing siren. that alarm bell is also included in a minute-long extra fx section and for those that cannot get enough, seeks and ye shall find a locked-groove. people who like to carry their record collection around on a hard-drive, will also be pleased to know that there is an additional track to be found on the digital release (no locked grooves there, were afraid). its a contemplative force called stoneleigh express. e is for earthquake!

alexis le-fan and allo rodolphe are aliases for two parisian clowns responsible for excavating some of the deepest nuggets in france. these cuts were specifically geared for the close-at-hand warm weather.

arran was doing a photography course when she joined the band, and at her first rehearsal she brought along a notebook. written on it was dark room notes. we had gone through numerous terrible names, and felt this was one we could settle on. we were lucky she wasnt doing a knitting course.

italians do it better owner/traveling dj salesman/heavy record collector mike simonetti takes an edit to three very obscure 90s house tracks. we were able to recognize the a-side with some help. the track was altered significantly and intro extends and builds and builds and builds... the two tracks on the b-side sound like 90s japanese piano house and a happy house rave track flipped on 33 but to be honest, we have no idea what they are.

it is incredible and a little unnerving to discover that rio padices first forays in production came as recently as 2007. 2008 saw him publish his first productions on mosaik musik, which were of a more minimal, techno nature. 2009 saw the successful collaboration with metroline limited, which has spawned a a number of releases and remixes, most notably his road to alberqueque and twin peaks eps. the same year also saw rio join forces with massimo di lena under their new alias >horacio< to release two ep s on the highly acclaimed raum musik and cynosure labels.with rio currently devoting his time to learning the production techniques of the 90s, blending the use of software, hardware and sampling, his productions, unlike so much of the current trend for looking back, have a mature and studied classic sound and feel to them

the longawaited counterpart to the world famous: eve by day !! big with: anja schneider, adam beyer, joris voorn, steve bug, joel mull, dominik eulberg, james holden, laurent garnier, solomun, ripperton after admired releases on poker flat and of course connaisseur, things were a bit quiet around patrick chardronnet. these days are over now! patrick returns with a big bang offering this wonderful double a-side on connaisseur recordings and opens a new chapter of his delightfully, trippy & emotional adventures. enchanting, mesmeric and deeply touching, these two up-building tracks are reinforcing chardronnets hypnotic side once again. boggler is a simple and reduced spacer that features wonderfully processed drums and an endless arpeggio hypnosis. the track works highly effective only with a few elements until the beat comes back after a massive break. underlined with a strong sub-bassline, the whole track starts to fly away and is taking the whole dancing crowd with on its journey. eve by night – a counterpart to >eve by day<, patricks biggest hit so far, starts rather smoothly and upbuilding. then the track turns to a skipping, complex and meandering monster, which is jacked-up with some dirty hats and a playful synth theme. the theme deconstructs more and more and a logarithm assembles the parts of the theme to a new and unexpected melody experience. sophisticated !

the second and final part to mossas massive album is festine pt.2. the first part was crafted for a more big room, late night feel and for the second slab of wax were going more for the bouncier out-door, summer fun time feel. there were so many moods on this full-length that we were able to craft specific types of eps. to some this may be more of the sound they come to expect to hear from mossa but we know him best, he has flavors upon flavors, which is very obvious on this ep. hes a hard artist to stereotype, exactly why we had to have him on thema. so for this excursion we have a tango-esque dance floor prime time buner-buleria, that will make you slam tequilas like the true lushes we are. on the flip side we have pezzner of freerange and dave aju of circus company delivering some sultry, tangy, funk for the body

compound one started as a concept while they were at the pioneering dubstep club night fwd. fracture had been checking out the emerging dubstep sound and qualifide was then hosting a weekly show on rinse fm and had begun to mix dubstep in with his usual garage style. the timing was right, the studio session was booked? >get loose< was unleashed!

return of the famous label with the 6th release. it includes tracks of fer br, preach, cesar almena and a colaboration work of ivan devero & nuke. the result is excellent, a very cool release with high quality sound. all tracks were made to dance. all tracks are 100% techno but they are very different: funk techno, groove and new tech are the sounds youll find in this release. its the release youll hear on all dancefloors this summer. enjoy it!!

the sound of the new wave band bauhaus seems to make its way into several releases nowadays. &#8232,,we are not talking about samples but the dark romantic feeling of this period.&#8232,,moonbeams track >distance< carries this haunted and ghostly feeling of the 80ies, the chill of cold steel and rooms with little light from candles.&#8232,,sure it would not be a moonbeam track if there were not the spine-tingling melodies which have always been the strength of their music!

for release number 5 well rounded goes deep with the debut release from donga & blake.
label owner donga met blake when both djd at brightons forward thinking drum n bass night carbon spinning similar shades of the deeper end of dubstep. this lead to the idea of hooking up in the studio, and whilst initial experiments at 140bpm were promising, it wasnt until they decided to lower the tempos to housier speeds that their sound clicked into place. this sound is a balanced fusion of soulful house, deep textured techno and rhythms absorbed from garage, funky and broken beat. these 3 immaculate tracks have a simple appeal but also contain many layered sonic details for the closer listener.

as announced moxie is closing its doors, giving way to all the other editors to fight the edit battle… enough is enough. but moxie has to go out the proper way, so here is one more to celebrate the ending of it all. the moxters were in la recently with la 101.1 classic radio booming while on the road. the one song that got played most, by far, was >nananaheyhey< and it was screaming for an extended (break) version. so here it is, our goodbye to you. see you on the other side…

pablo mandelbrot claims to be from bar harbor, maine on the north-eastern coast of the u.s.a. when asked about his upbringing he mentions various occupations including sardine canner and quota negotiator as well as hinting at some dark years spent working in the aqua-culture industry. about his music he says little, summing up his productions with the cryptic declaration: >disco is a deep sea<. we are not entirely sure where or when the two tracks on this 12inch were recorded and the only information from mandelbrot himself is that he has sometimes collaborated with the late conny plankton (who also engineered these two tracks), a legendary figure of the maine/nova scotia electronic music scene. pablo also insists that both tracks are >under exclusive license from lob-starr records<, although we have never heard of this label and their representatives have yet to contact us. we hope you enjoy these two slices of hypnoboogie disco, smoked, cured and de-boned for your convenience.

escape from new york >singles collection< contains the groups full discography. the group comprising of british record producers john falleti, mike whitford, nigel swanston & tim cox (who also recorded as airstrip-one) penned these two gems in the early 80s at a time when italo disco & new wave were the flavour of the day. >fire in my heart< needs little introduction, an incredible slow-mo balearic masterpiece with rapturous vocals. now worth a pretty penny this originally was released on uk rollerball records in 1984.

reggie blount is one cool fucker doing some great p-funk electro tracks as one would expect to hear from midnight star, morris day and the time, bootsy collins and the many unknown early 80s unknown electro funk boogie funkateers. heavily influenced by the underground electro-boogie style of the early 80s as well as more known artists such as one way, kashif, mtume, cameo, and parliament. reggie blount brings together the elements which led these styles to the forefront of the club scene at a time when drum machines and synthesizers were giving birth to the bedroom recording artist. mr blount offers up some heat for your funk bone on his long anticipated debut ep! as with all crown limited releases only two manufacturing runs... one is pre-orders only... two is when prices go crazy in the 2nd hand market. so make sure you will pre-order this in time!

q: how did quinn and alexis meet?
a: the two were introduced by chris veltri, owner of legendary record shop groove merchant in san francisco. veltri and luke had made a pair of plunderphonic dusted disco 12 inches under the name coppa. georgopoulos was a founder of the group tussle and asked if coppa would do a tussle remix. this led to luke acting as producer on the tussle album telescope mind.

here comes edwards follow-up ep. this time he goes a slightly deeper and more direct. it might be the purest music we ve ever heard from the berlin-based producer. all the crazy clubgigs are manifested into hi music now. of course still with the classical edward style somewhere between dark minimal and trancy deephouse aesthetics. >bush of crows< is somewhat of a siginature edward track. but a very rough one this time. with a comfortable paranoia, this track unfolds itself into a little peak time extravaganza. on the flip, he cools everything down with a warm house tune called >the ghetto< and he adds a certain >blockparty romantic< to it... b2. is once again one of those more minimal edward tracks were he masters to be on point with just the core essence o sounds. edward remains a real romantic for sure...

this is a well-rounded compilation of material from various plan b recordings artists. up first is dakini9s remix of >swine<, a track originally made by spider & lola. this is a deep, minimal techno track, with squealing pigs and industrial sounds which were recorded in pig slaughter houses and have been layered throughout the track. second up is courages >mildred< track. this is one of those tracks that just makes you want to dance, period. this is from his >feast or famine ep<, which will be coming out later this year. the third track is from detroits very own bileebob (underground resistance, detroit grand pubahs), who teams up with his agriculture partner, marshallito. here we have an amazing array of driving drumbeats and chaotic synth work that blends perfectly together for an infectious, grooving dance floor banger! the final track is from dj spider: a deep house track, with a funky bass line, nice synth work and a good driving beat. this house track completes the compilation and also gives you a taste of the diversity of this labels sound.

reference (planet e / echospace / beretta) consists of the detroit-based artists luke hess & brian kage. in the first reference vs project we squeezed some of the party out of seth troxler and some of the percussion expertise from ryan crosson to create the still sought after tracks >the fade< and >the bumps<. in the second installment of our reference vs series we wanted to get a bit more soulful, & deep with the music, and highlight two of the worlds finest dub techno artists - stephen hitchell (cv313) and marko furstenburg (surphase). stephen hitchell aka cv313 is first a sound engineer. his experiments with synthesis create a warm, ethereal, and organic analog sound all his own. in the reference vs projects we seek to extract the natural strengths of the artist. when we received the files from stephen we knew we were packing heat! we structured our zone around the life-like chord structure that cv313 so effortlessly creates and gave it some more dance floor flavor. we believe the track titled >the wake< will fill dance-floors over the summer months on the beach as well as in the clubs. what can we say. markos shuffled dub stab style has been in demand since the artist started releasing on thinner back in 2002. mr. fürstenbergs deep and emotional music is an extension of his character. we were happy to receive what we expected from marko, super percussive, cavernous, and soulful soundscapes. again we referenced the package out with some drones, new analog rhythms, and eureka. the zone continues relentlessly in >the swell< to carry the dancer through the night into another summer day in the sun

mysterious producer under the name june, composes a three track ep ranging from trippy acid house to chicago. we found out the tracks were composed solely on hardware machines between 2007 and 2009, each one in the month of june. the a side sticker carries the >flaming june< painting while the b side is individually hand stamped. limited to 400

vol.2 with remixes from robag wruhme, reboot, martinez !! hailing from berlin norman weber and marco resmann released an album in autumn 2009 that can be easily called a success. this is why there were no problems at all to find an illustrious circle of remixers. jena-based robag wruhme already contributed one remix to matthias tanzmanns >bulldozer< in 2006. the old partnership was now revived and robag wruhme was asked for a reinterpretation of another moon harbour track. his version of >mr. jack< captivates you with its mix of funk and darkness and has an overwhelming effect on the dance floor

parts i & ii of friday 14th were previously released on french label astrolab but these two new versions evolved through playing the track in our live set. while in la last year, we were asked to go into the studio and record something... this is what came from that session. also on the release is a great dubby-proto-house remix from roots unit, and most excellent it is too.

the phenomenal handclap band out of nyc dropped a brilliant debut album last year and first single >15 to 20< was a stand out track. hector works label founder anthony mansfield got the opportunity to remix the track and was so into the tune that he rinsed two versions. while these versions got widespread exposure and distribution from both friendly fire and gomma, anthonys remixes were until now digital only. we want our records! the disco mix is a slower funk version using the catchy vocals over a helping of sweet disco dubûthe punk funk mix uses all the elements of the track and points it for a dance floor!

that juan maclean is just a bundle of contradictions. here he has created one of the years best mix cds — and not just a proper party mix, which it certainly is, but even what you might call an important mix, a timely lesson in the enduring spirit of house music — and how does he choose to describe the process of putting it together? as an >existential tailspin<.
