londoners kiwi and ashworth return to sneaky for a follow-up to dawn ep, the warm, dusty and at times experimental release, championed by the likes of daniel avery, eric duncan and tiefschwarz. the past few months have been busy for both halves of the duo, with kiwi signing to duke dumont s blase boys club and remixing for house music super-labels bpitch control and get physical, whilst ashworth has signed music to tomoki tamura s holic trax and needwant. second ep takes a new format, with two original tracks alaska and na am on the a-side, backed up by a nicholas & marcoradi remix of cux3 and ranacat s remix of zubr. alaska could be described as an amalgamation of the inspirations that lead to the first sneaky release, combining the pumping house beats of cux3, the comforting wurlitzer of zubr and the ethereal movie-soundtrack dusk. na am is something totally different, existing mainly as a collage of recorded and found sounds, avoiding the usual structure of house music in favour of something reminiscent of the weirder side of the chemical brothers. strange though the track may be, the climax would undoubtedly move a room full of pilled up ravers to a state of frenzy. the b-side remixes both hint to dance floors of the 90s, with nicholas and marcoradi making you wait and wait before dropping an unforgettable piano hook, whilst sneaky s ranacat lifts zubr out of context and into peak time territory.

modelmaker is a new london label from the collective minds of dan berkson and james what. the esteemed house duo has long been garnishing a range of international imprints with their inventive analogue house and techno sounds, but now they are focussing on their own outlet. initially launching with a couple of self penned eps, release number three will be the pair s long-time-in-the-making debut album, and after that a considered selection of other talents will join the ranks as the label pushes on. always primarily focussed on machine made, texturally rich house and techno, each release will come with unique artwork based on works from what s great grandfather, conrad felixmuller, who was a well known german expressionist.

proud yorkshire label hudd traxx have been putting out a reliable stream of quality deep house since 2005, with artists like dj sneak, rick wade, iron curtis, jay bliss and agnes just some of the many names to appear on the label. this 46th release features three debutants, while the fourth name, j.t. donaldson, spearheads the release with a wishy-washy, bassline driven deep house vocal cut -got myself together-. hudd traxx provides dusseldorf producer maximiljan with his first physical release with the track -son of a- which merges the linear 909 house style of norm talley with smooth chords and cheeky vocals similar to the now defunct swiss house duo azuni. but most interesting for the label on this release, it s the two new names in professional gigolo and tuneon that prove hudd traxx still know where to look when it comes to unearthing new and vibrant talent.

orphx the veteran industrial-techno super duo strike again with their latest ep on sonic groove entitled sacrifice. filled to the brim with pulsing modular sound design and industrialized techno rhythms. orphx once again shine bright in a sound of darkness. highly recommended for those who like their techno and industrial tough but yet hypnotic.

brooklyn duo xeno and oaklander are a minimal electronics girl/boy duo from brooklyn, ny. they began writing music and soundtracks in 2004. liz wendelbo is french / norwegian and sean mcbride is from maryland. they record their songs live in their brooklyn studio and play analogue synthesizers and instruments exclusively. this summer, xeno and oaklander bring their minimal electronic sounds to ghostly international with new album par avion, their first for the label.
